A complete change of direction in week 2 as we go to Domark's 1986 Spectrum release, Split Personalities (aka Splitting Images) nominated by A.J.Green.![]() We'll play the original version of this game which is listed as SplitPersonalities.tzx.zip on the World of Spectrum page where it can be downloaded. For those without a TZX file compatible emulator installed, I've tested this one with ZXSpin on PC. Alternatives and emulators for other platforms can be found here ZXSpin specific info: Once installed, you can load a TZX file by selecting 'File - Insert Tape' from the menu. Screenshots can be saved in BMP format by selecting 'File - Save Current Screen' from the menu. You probably want to convert them to JPEG or GIF or whatever before uploading them, or the forum posts are likely to get bogged down. Twin Galaxies only has one score listed and its on the C64 version. Default settings: No choice really, there are no options to change. No continues allowed, no auto fire allowed, start tape on side 1 Scores to be in by 12:00 noon on 01/10/06. Scores at 11:00 on 01/10/06 1) 431400 - Fairziff = 100.00 points 2) 425600 - A.J.Green = 96.55 points 3) 271900 - Ashlington = 75.96 points 4) 267500 - Elgin_McQueen = 72.67 points 5) 240900 - Necronom = 66.81 points 6) 231600 - Leezer = 62.95 points 7) 226500 - Opa-Opa = 59.59 points 8) 217500 - madroXounds = 55.76 points 9) 158800 - Sureshot = 46.18 points 10) 129400 - Ghostbiscuit = 40.00 points 11) 94400 - SirClive = 33.16 points 12) 75000 - Zaphod79 = 28.14 points 13) 47000 - Frank Chickens = 22.11 points 14) 45400 - Merman = 19.15 points 15) 26700 - Antiriad2097 = 14.21 points 16) 19700 - RS200 = 10.62 points 17) 19200 - Danny = 7.78 points 18) 8700 - Kaiserpc = 3.79 points |

This is the first Speccy game in the League if I'm correct. Someone give us a rundown of what to do so I'm ready for it when I get home

Its not easy...

The idea is to build up a picture of a famous celebrity. Clicking on the top left square will shoot out a piece, which could be either a piece of the picture or a bonus item. You have to move the pictures into the correct position. The bonus items can be matched together to gain points. However, if a bomb shoots out, you have five second before the bomb explodes. You must get rid of it either by shooting it out of an open door or dousing it with water. Hope that makes everything clear! |

22,200 I had this on my C64. It's very difficult to do a picture in the time limit, and I usually nave no time at all to go for bonuses. ![]() |

Not sure about the keys - I use the joystick. You could try pressing each until you find them. You only need the four directions and fire. Are you using ZX Spin? I just pressed the "open" icon at the bottom, double clicked the zip file, then double clicked "Side 1". It took less than a second to load. |

32,400 I only got this score because I kept running out of time when I only had about 2 blocks left to fix in place, so I got lots of bonus for having time left on my next life. I almost never get any bonus because the time limit is so supidly strict, that I can't affort to spend half a second putting a block somewhere for later (plus they get in the way of the proper blocks). ![]() It's funny that you posted a Homer pic, as 10 minutes ago I was thinking that Clive Sinclair looked like he was in the Simpsons (having yellow skin). |

15400![]() Rubbish, complete rubbish..! Time limit is to tight and the game throws out far to many bombs which are nearly impossible to get rid of unless they land next to an open door. There is no fun to be had from this game, it is just frustrating. The reason that these "slide puzzles" are given away in Xmas crackers is because no bugger would buy them.! |

You lot are being hard to please this season, aren't you? This scored 90% overall in the Crash review. For those with control/gameplay issues, the review specifies keys etc and how the game works. (Control keys: O left, P right, Q up, A down, CAP SHIFT to SPACE fire, R and T abort, H pause, J continue) TK - why can't you get it to work? What emulator are you using? It took me no more than a few clicks to test this one out. Does your emu support TZX files? Have you tried extracting the files from the Zip? Opa, we did buy this one, and in great numbers. I knew a puzzle game wouldn't be to everyone's taste - you can't please all of the people... A.J, you nominated this one, do you have any comments? |

I know people bought it, I still have mine on the ZX shelf upstairs. I read the review, I belive YS scored it high as well, then went and bought the game only to play it a few times and find out the Crash were complety wrong and it is utter poop.... To be fair if you could gain extra time by collecting certain bonus items and if the bombs were not so frequent and allowed you enough time to clear them it would play better. As it is if you get a bomb come out with in the first 3 or 4 squares your dead, there is no way you can shufle it round an empty screen in 3 seconds and get rid of it.. Didn't like it then, can't stand it now

18700 You know the rules, Koops Well after thinking this was utterly atrocious at first, I only think it's semi-bad now. Anybody got a rundown of the bonus item combos? So far, I've done the US against China flags and the fist against Labour. I'm guessing the gun goes with the bullet too. |

You can also put Labour and Tory together, as well as Dennis and what looks like alcohol
If you put the tap on a bomb you get 5k as well! And yeah, the end-bonus system is a bit cack really. Should deduct points if you lost lives or something. |

Once again I'll refer to JoyToKey It works with any game or emu and with all sticks/pads, translating joy input to keyboard. You can have multiple custom configurations set up for specific games or emus - just leave the game on keyboard control and JoyToKey will take care of the rest. |

34800 Reckon you're just as well figuring out the bonuses and going for them. I go for the edges first but keep 2 randoms in the top row at the right to make bomb disposal easier, anything else I just kick out. For some reason Spin has never liked me so I print screen and use paint to get my images. |

Erm.. If you think Q,A,O,P and space are weird I'm guessing that you never had a speccy The only thing about this game that I felt at home with straight away was the keyboard layout. I doubt I'll be scoring high this week as I have anger management problems and have been advised not to play this to much

Personally, I think this is one of the greatest games released for the Spectrum, and I nominated it because I wanted to show people who hadn't played a Speccy game that it wasn't all monochrome graphics and crap arcade conversions. Can everyone work out who the celebrities are? Be afraid - I might choose Friday the 13th next for the Speccy! |

Nope, fine here. Out of curiosity, does the path have any spaces in it (as in 'Program_Files') ? I've seen way too many emus have problems with spaces in filepaths (as well as a few apps at work) so I keep all mine space free in C:\emulator\<system>\<emu> I also try to stick to the old 8.3 letter naming conventions, hence 'emulator' instead of 'emulators'. ZXSpin is sitting nicely in C:\emulator\spectrum\zxspin\ and loading games from C:\emulator\roms\spectrum\ |

This will probably be because you are loading the tzx version, which, with some emulators, loads the game in real time. If you download the z80 or sna version, that will load much quicker. The z80 and sna versions can be downloaded from here: http://www.rebelstar.co.uk/games.htm Type in split and the games will come up to download. |
