You could always PRNTSCRN and import it into a paint package to shrink it down - that's what I do with MAME.

Why on earth would you do that when if you push F12 in MAME it takes a snapshot in Jpeg format and then puts it in a nice folder called "snap"..?
Madness...

For some reason only known to Windows the PRNTSCRN has stopped working with it so I have to faff around with screengrab software, a real pain in the arse. :(

EDIT - What do you know, it's starting working again as soon as a read your post - AJ you're a genius! :D

That what I do in MAME and it works fine, but you do realise we're playing a Speccy game this week don't you? Unless you've got a very rare version of MAME that emulates the Speccy..

there's unfair, then there's just fucking balls, got to Jagger, 239700 points, the first FOUR damned icons were all bombs, how was I ever going to get more than 2 out of the way, I wasn't that's how.

The bombs are without doubt the single most annoying feature of the game. If there was a pattern or some indication one was due they'd be bearable but as totally random things they're a pain. And 4 in a row is nonsense, you'd think they'd have factored in some sort of limit. Didn't even know Jagger was in there...

Found it helps if you memorise which icons sre redundant, like the gun on the first stage, don't need it for anything as there's no bullet. Annoying as hell when you forget these things.

I was quoting AJ Green, not yourself Mr Chicken ;) AJ said he used the print screen button to save pic's in MAME and I wondered why..?
I knew you were using Spin which was why I was able to offer advice regarding saving screen shots which use the .BMP extension.. :)

Apologies for mis-reading your post opa-opa.

There's no chance of me playing this game again as it's too fustrating and Spin is a poorer emu than Spectacular IMO due to the lack of smoothness, SP was jerky in use. My low score will stay with me for this round. To be honest, I'm surprised how well I did last week considering I only played it for 20mins.

Domark must have paid a good bribe to get this fustrating rubbish good marks. <_<

Well found out what the earlier problem was, my file size was too big, just cropped it down and resubmitted it, didn't exactly give me a clue though, just said, "you cannot upload this type of file"

You can use any emu you like for it, as long as we're all playing the same copy of the game that's all that matters.

My highest score was managed using PSPectrum.

I only quoted ZXSpin for those who didn't have one as
(A) I have it installed so was able to test it; and
(B ) its free - Spectaculator isn't.

I only used Spin as it's the only one I know of that has screenie support, still it's nice to know there's other options. :)

Spectacular is free providing you use the versions before the switch - I'm using v5.3 and it's fine for my use, though PSPectrum is getting a lot more use. B)

This is my first chance to play the game and I've gotta say, GREAT NOMINATION Greeny.
Loved this as a kid and have been playing the remake 'Picture Mixture' a bit recently. Hope it helps me get a good score.

You can get the remake from here if you want to keep playing after the game week ends...

I love this game, but it has a seriously flawed scoring system that encourages you to die near the end of a level so you get a big time bonus.
Its a bit late now but I would say that games like this should be judged on the level you reach and then the score is just used to seperate the people who reached the same level. As a kid I never even bothered looking at the score, I was always more interested in which celebrity I could get up to.

Having another think about this, I reckon it would be better if the devs made it so you lose your bonus when you die. This would definitely stop people life whoring for uber end of level scoring.

Darran: you need to move the cursor to the arrow at the top-left and press fire :P

It's a bit like Butasan I spose. A lot of the high scores were not from people competing the game. My highest was from a level about 2 or 3 before the furthest one I reached.

Not having a picture to see doesn't really make any difference at all, since it tells you where the square goes, but the fact that the doors don't shut, and the permanent electric things are in stupid places means it's totally ridiculous.

I'm happy with my score, even though I did level 7 or 8 without getting ANY bonus (apart from a tiny bit from having a few seconds of time left).

I think that will do me. Roll on the next game...

I liked it. And this is coming from someone who has never had a Spectrum, hates the colours, graphics, sound, keyboard, lack of disk drive, lack of proper joystick support, etc...

I would have prefered the C64 version, but I'm always happy to play good games on any format (with possible exception of Mario games, because I'm sick to death of the wanker being in what seems like EVERY game on Nintendo's machines - that's why I've never had one).

I would have rather played another Spectrum game this week instead of Tapper.
