155300![]() My local arcade used to have a Star Force machine, it was always ignored by the people who all played Double Dragon and Wonder Boy which ment it was easy to get a go and I often had a few turns while waiting for another machine to free up.. I forgot all about it untill today when that music started Cheers Fairziff.. |

![]() Score: 148,900 Tips I've gained from MAME's history.dat file... * A Trick : You can determine which direction the end of level boss will move before it even appears by looking at your score. If the hundreds digit is odd, the boss will move to the left. If it is even, it'll move right (the tens and units digits are always zero). * One Million Points Bonus : On the violet continent, if you see a coelacanth fossil on the left side, go to the -right- side and shoot. Cleopatra appears - shoot her and you'll get a million-point bonus. The coelacanth may only appear on the third violet continent. * 80, 000 Points Bonus : At some points in the game you will see two columns of green arrows down the center of the screen. Concentrate on either the left or right column of these arrows, and try to shoot 16 in a row. You will be awarded an 80, 000 bonus for doing this. The first time these appear, it is possible to get two such bonuses in a row (if there are not many enemies around!), and sometimes more if the level ends before the column has finished appearing. Later on there is a short column of only 16, so only one bonus is possible here. * 50, 000 Point Bonus : You've seen a big enemy that combines into parts. When you hear the tune it is about to appear, STOP SHOOTING (You don't actually have to stop shooting altogether, but if you hit part of the enemy before the center part flashes white the bonus will not work). Position your ship so that you are just underneath the center part of the enemy and wait for it to flash white. Once this has happened, shoot the center part several times : the enemy will be destroyed and you will be awarded the 50, 000 point special bonus. |

111300 reminds me of Warhawk on the c64 also what's the crack after you get killed and seem to start from a different area? Sometimes you'll start at the end of level baddie, and sometimes you'll have to go through a couple of areas again? |

I need a bit of advice, guys: Star Force (and a couple of other games) are coming up rotated 90 degrees anticlockwise, and I can't sem to get these ones upright (I've gone into properties and the display option only allows me to rotate 180 degrees). Pain in the arse. I could post a score, but it would be crap and look funny. Anyone help? (Bear in mind that I am crap with this kind of thing, so it may be something obvious, as I've only just got MAME back on the computer.) By the way, I'm using MAME 32 0.81. Cracking game, by the way, we had one in our local arcade too. |

143700 ![]() In Mame32 go to Options / default game options / and theres a rotation option - mines is just set for 'default' but you can rotate clockwise / anticlockwise - i'm using a slightly later version of mame (104) Other thing to do in here is check the stretch options - if you turn those off it may reset back to a smaller screensize but with the correct aspect ratio |

It turns up in those planet-looking orbs. I don't mind the normal gun too much since your ship is half the size you are with the upgrade, but you don't half have to hammer it. I'm still stumped as to how to get that 80k bonus, seems like you have to have exact timing. |

want to know where some extra lives are ? ok .. near the end of level three on the left hand side there is some green "?" marks to shoot on the ships surface which is in the shape of a zig-zag and when you shoot them it turns into a yellow smiling face - well, shoot one of them (I think it is the top part - 2nd from the left) and it should turn into a green smilie face and you also should hear a little jingle to indicate a extra life. On level 4 close to the beginning there is the same - shoot the green "?" - the ones on the left hand side - one of the smilies turns green when shot and a extra life is yours ... I will post a screenshot if it just makes everyone confused !!! (edited due to some quite astonishing inaccuracies) |
