I only read about heaven this afternoon. Seems if you get the 3-1 or above, when you die you get a "second chance" by going to heaven - if you survive, you enter the game back where you got killed.

It's difficult to tell, since you take a totally different route most of the time, sometimes skipping between levels, and who knows what's in some of them. The first warp on 1-1 is quite useful as you get an instant extra life, however, playing through all the levels is probably going to get you the best score and you'll gain lives as you go along anyway. |

Really? I get the warp, then jump to somewhere where I get a choice of two other warps: one on the left that jumps you below the kiwi the the cage, and lets you get two letters, and the one on the right that jumps you to the top where you get a line of fruit, then drop down and continue the level from there. I've never noticed an extra life. |

it's not that easy though as the version you sent doesn't work for me. If we want to be 100% sure we are playing the same version, then we will need to list each file used in the archive along with it's size and date. And also list on which version of mame this works on. The version I'm running has the same level design as the ST version. It has a warp on the first level just above, and to the left the 2nd platform amongst all the hermit crabs. This then takes you to a "secret room" where you can swim to one of two exits. These exits then take you to 2 different locations within the 1st level. One of the exits allows you to get a couple of letters. No sign of any extra lifes though. The version I'm running was pm'd to me by Necronom, and has the right .zip name. The version Antiriad sent does not work on my verison of Mame (although I think they both are the right versions - Antiriad's one is missing some files). I'll list the the archive files when I'm back on my home PC. |

After Ant posted the "official league version", I used his (it seems to be exactly the same as the one I was using previously, apart from it has a few file missing). I added the missing files from my original on to Ant's version and I've been using that ever since. Here is the fixed version that I am using. If you want this removing from the board Ant, let me know, or edit this yourself. Maybe this will stop the confusion. And some people say choosing "attach drive" then clicking the game is difficult when using other systems... |

Sorry, not trying to get you in trouble by saying you pm'd me a copy Anyway, so which level 1-1 do you now have (after using Antiriad's verison, and copying in the missing files)? It seems we are missing the correct level 1-1, our 1-1 seems to be everyone else's 1-2 Once you copy in the missing files and use Antiriad's version, does our old 1-1 become 1-2? (hope this makes sense). |

On the 'NEWER VERSION' level 1-2 from the other version is 1-1. The link that Ant posted (which is coming up as the jap version on mame32 plus) has the 1-1 that I remember from the Amiga and Mega Drive versions, and what I'm using now. The extra life I'm on about is via the warp on 1-1, which takes you to half of the letters needed to get an extra life (with the Kiwi cage on your lower right, inaccessible). Then you shoot right to open another warp, where you end up in the water (1-4), then you get out and jump up some platforms with those foxes roaming around and the remaining letters are there. This is right next to the Whale. Edit: my English went out the window the first time I posted this, sorry. |

I know. I only PM'd you the link because I wasn't sure if Ant wanted the link on the forum. Here is the starting screen for the first three levels on the version I am using: ![]() ![]() ![]() And I don't think I have the same one as SS, as I can only get 2 E's and an X from the first level, and no warp to 1-4 or inaccesible cage (I just jump up to it). |

yep Necronom that's the same as me - which looks like it is the wrong version. Our level 1-1 is everyone else's level 1-2. Maybe we should have 2 leagues this week wrong version vs the right version . My current high score of around 100,000 will obviously not count.I now need to find a version of mame32 that works with the "correct" version. So what version is everyone using? I've got mame32 0.100. Once I get the "correct" version running I will be on to my 3rd version of New Zealand Story this week

I agree, you have the wrong one. I have thesame as Sureshot. I did have the other one originally. But I have to say that the one I am using now (that comesup as Japan on mine too) is much better. Te additional level at the start gets you into the game much better. |

I have the same as Necronom and TK, which looks like thje wrong one. I downloaded the one Ant put up, changed the name and aftr auditing the only one it said I have was tnzsj file, which seems to be the right one, but i've been playing with the tnzs file. This is why I put up a post sayin i'm using the same one as TK, is this right, which noone responded to. K i'm gonna start playing with the other one now, if anything an extra level at the start should mean bigger scores. |
