markopoloman fires upwards and rotates to bring us Thrust on the Commodore 64 Link to the ZIP file Controls Joystick control IS possible, but I recommend playing on keys A - rotate left S - rotate right Space - shield/pick up fuel/tractor beam Shift - activate thrusters Return - fire cannon Gameplay On each level the aim is to escape towing the Klystron orb. The player's craft has to fly down, hover above the orb and pick it up with the tractor beam (space). Thrusting upwards, the ship has to escape the planet's atmosphere to complete the level. A nuclear reactor on each level powers the cannons on the walls, which can be destroyed with a single hit from the craft's cannon. Shooting the reactor stops it generating power, so the enemy cannons will fall silent for a short while. Do too much damage to the reactor and it will start to meltdown, shown by a countdown. You then have to escape before the timer reaches zero. Destroying the planet AND escaping with the orb brings big bonus points. There are six levels. Complete them and they are repeated with reverse gravity, complete that six and the next six levels have invisible walls. Get past those, and you get six levels with invisible walls AND reverse gravity Scores to be in by 1200 on Sunday 17th June Final Scores : 1) 97650 - Leezer = 100.00 points 2) 93450 - necronom = 95.77 points 3) 68500 - Merman = 80.91 points 4) 64950 - LeFosse = 77.01 points 5) 50450 - Titch = 67.50 points 6) 37850 - Freshmetal = 58.96 points 7) 37700 - Zaphod79 = 56.80 points 8) 35150 - Baldyman666 = 53.41 points 9) 26700 - A.J Green = 47.00 points 10) 25350 - Proevofanatik = 44.23 points 11) 25250 - Russgalleywood = 42.10 points 12) 24850 - RS200 = 39.81 points 13) 23400 - Sureshot = 36.98 points 14) 23150 - Sputryk = 34.77 points 15) 22850 - Fairziff = 32.53 points 16) 22700 - Antiriad2097 = 30.37 points 17) 20400 - Markopoloman = 27.11 points 18) 20250 - RocketRanger = 24.95 points 19) 16050 - Paranoid marvin = 20.72 points 20) 13950 - Madge = 17.56 points 21) 7400 - Supermario = 12.12 points 22) 5000 - Elgin McQueen = 8.81 points 23) 2900 - SirClive = 5.65 points 24) 1050 - Opa-Opa = 2.62 points |

Hoooooooooooooooooooray! One of my most fave games - Although I am still not that good at it!! Hey Sirclive - you should like this, it looks kinda like a speccy game mate
I set up a different set of keys.... Arrow keys.... Up = thrust left = rotate left Right = rotate right Left CTRL = fire and left SHIFT = shield/pickup Thats much easier for me as the Return key seems too far out to use in the other setup!! |

Nah, looks like an Amstrad to me I remember playing it before and it is a good game. Just quite busy in my life at the mo, so anything other than the quick blast pick up and plays aren't getting enough attention. Thats why I only got one go of Paradroid. I'll give it a go though. |

You should count yourself lucky on the various key options available - I used to play this on the Atari XL ![]() Which while it was a good version the Atari did not let you press multiple 'normal' keys at the same time so you *had* to use the function keys at the side of the keyboard So for comparison it would be like playing the C64 version but you needed to use F1 / F3 / F5 / F7 for thrust / shield / fire Made it a more challenging game anyway :-) |

5050 Which is about the odds on me doing any better unless I can fathom out how to change my key settings. My laptop pops-up a window after so many 'shift' key presses! Maybe doesn't help that I have a Japanese keyboard system. Any help anyone can give... Arigatou! |

I can not get this game to work properly! For some reason the ship won't turn right! The 'S' key works for right but no matter which keyset I use on either CCS or WinVICE and on two different computers, that's the only key that works which makes it rather cramped to play! So, since iIhave played this game to death through the years I'll just post one score and wait until next week. 7550

19550 OK, so as I cannot read all the Japanese kanji yet (and I will not pester the wife) I will make-do - by trying not to thrust much. Never been a fan of this game, though, so don't expect to play it much more. |

Russ, try switching the joystick off completely in VICE Spurtryk, as Clive says it's "StickyKeys". Trigger it deliberately and it will pop up a dialog box saying "OK Cancel Settings" - go to settings and disable the combination for StickyKeys (and make sure you hit Apply) |

You could use Joy2Key, or an I-Pac to convert joystick inputs to key presses. I'm using a joystick, as I can't use keys. EVER! |

Welcome to our new contestants, don't forget to go to the Nominations Thread to put your two games into the pot for next week. (The way we do it is everyone nominates two games, and you are free to change your choice during a season. But you must post a score in the current week for your games to be eligible for selection in the next week. But I'm sure you can read the thread and nominate some sensible games to play in the League) |
