4400 points compared to 3200... I did mention you could do it in the brief game summary in the first post Had a couple of attempts to beat my score earlier, both times I blew myself and level 5 up. Oops. |

I'd also like to join the competition. I've been playing Alien Syndrome for the Lemon64 Competition, and it's already driven me nuts a few times. Playing Thrust will be a welcome change! At the moment, I still find the controls incredibly frustrating and tricky though. Not looking forward to Reverse Gravitation.
My score: 17,900 ![]() |

Its not easy...
|
Now this may sound like a bit of a nit-picking point, but shouldn't I have the same points as Leezer, as our scores are equal? I think that I have been automatically allocated lower points because I am down as 6th and not joint 5th. Are there any rules regarding level scores? |

This has happened a few times. I'm not sure if we've ever ended the week with two equal scores, but the first to post a score gets priority in the table. I think people have said the scores would be ammended so both are equal at the end. Should the first to post get a slightly higher score? I'm undecided. Maybe a point or two extra would be fair? |

I wouldn't worry AJ, i'm sure we would amend it when we put it onto the leaderboard. Sometimes just those few extra points can make all the difference. Have to say, i'm really enjoying this weeks game. It can be *mighty* frustrating but almost ecstasy when you succeed! I'm dying for "Scout" to come up ... pmsl! |

Mostly harmless

Doesn't last for long though so not really worth bothering with, didn't know about the bonus though! I didn't even realise you have a shield till yesterday and have never used it! Does anyone use the shield, I find it just distracts you from controlling the craft? |

It was just the way the spreadsheet calculates the scores m8 - i.e. top score/your score/position. As it's a temp spreadsheet i am pretty sure it will be corrected for the end of the week

Correct , part of the calculations looks at the position you are in the table So as an example say we had 6 players and their scores were Player 1 - 1000 Player 2 - 600 Player 3 - 600 Player 4 - 400 Player 5 - 400 Player 6 - 300 The scores would be : 1) 1000 - Player1 = 100.00 points 2) 600 - Player 2 = 71.67 points 3) 600 - Player 3 = 63.33 points 4) 400 - Player 4 = 45.00 points 5) 400 - Player 5 = 36.67 points 6) 300 - Player 6 = 23.33 points And this is how it would show through the week , however when the final scores are worked out there would be no difference between those who scored the same amount so the scores would actually be : 1) 1000 - Player1 = 100.00 points 2) 600 - Player 2 = 71.67 points 2) 600 - Player 3 = 71.67 points 4) 400 - Player 4 = 45.00 points 4) 400 - Player 5 = 45.00 points 6) 300 - Player 6 = 23.33 points So dont worry if the temp score tables through the week show you at a lower amount - if you match the score you get the same amount. |

i second you pro - i mean every time you have a go - on one go you end up going quite far, next go you die level 2 - those cannons are just soooooo random i find myself getting thrust rage!!! its a feeling i havent had in years gaming.... fustration at my own stupity i can live with....when a game can be unfair then i can't live wiv it- or am i just being a loser / im crap at this - get over it baldyman / type thing going on. i know its in the realms of classix --but-- i thought that if a game makes you super angry - that in itself is a flaw in the game - but it keeps you coming back for more punishment...sooo..it is a flawed classic one word for this game...AAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHDAMMITCANNONSIHATETHISJUSTONEMOREGO |

if you want to play in a retro league then surely u have to be prepared to play any game that is selected. a few people in this league like playing this game. its not one that i would pick up and play all night, but at least i tried to get the highest score i could posibly get. thats what this league is all about. getting the best score. not to play the games you want to. your game will be selected soon enough. and then possibly other people will moan about the game u selected. we just have to try our best and get on with it. |

I too agree the game can be a bit random - those cannons can sometimes be deadly accurate , sometimes not fire at all - but this is part and parcel of a retro game , and a budget retro game at that I must admit though that the game isnt as good as I remember it being - or maybe I'm just not used to playing games via keyboard anymore |

i think you think a lot like me opa, i often don`t like games i cant control or crappy speccy games with shite graphics/gameplay. I think a retro league is more than just picking good games, its about games that you remember that bring a smile to your face remenising, regardless if they are good or bad games, take me for example i was nearly gonna nominate a c64 game called house of usher that could be the worse game ever (if you think thrust is frustrating try this one !) but i actually bought that game on budget and did quite enjoy playing it, but got so frustrated with it i hacked into it to get endless lives and time. lol |
