Cool, hope people like this one. Personnally I think the SNES version is a better game, but I thought this more suited to league play due to not having the choice of level order. |

45,430 Not a bad shooter. A bit mean on giving out money, unless I am missing something. But not bad nonetheless. Not sure how much time I will get this week, so here's my effort after my first ever go at this. |

40,930 I don't think using all 40 secondary weapons on the first end of level baddie is the correct way of doing this, but I died on it about 5 times in a row when I didn't so that was my only way to do it I am tired, so I'll try again another day.![]() |

78,830 Finally beat the B2 rocket machine. Too many mines hidden in the trees got to me thereafter. Have played this through using Continues (score resets, so not cheating!), and the speed rockets up ramping up also the overall difficulty. Last few bosses, for anyone who gets that far, are rather ridiculously tough. Methinks I will manage the half-way marker, but no better. |

Not sure on this one myself. I got to the stage with all of the trees, and after the tree section there seems to be a bunch of huge turrets that can clearly take damage yet WILL NOT EVER DIE. Their attacks arent exactly hard to dodge, but it doesnt matter when they dont blow up and crowd you into the side of the screen. .....that and the attack patterns in this game seem extremely random/simplistic. I've so far tended to just spam the "special" weapons at the bosses since they're damn near useless in the stages themselves. Though I tried them on the turrets, still wouldnt explode anything. Not that any of this is a surprise. I tend to dislike pretty much anything made by Capcom. I'll give it some more attempts later if I remember to. EDIT: Yeah. Not submitting for this one. I hate to say it but this is one of the worst shmups I've yet seen. It seems like they didnt even try. Almost all of the enemies are the same (complete with the same patterns over and over), stage 3 has trees that block your vision (a big no-no in this genre), and all in all, the whole thing just seems very cheaply made, though again, it's Capcom, so that doesnt really surprise me. I think the only shmup I dislike more than this one is Ikaruga. Well, and maybe DDP Daioujou. I have exorcised the rom from this machine. As this genre goes I'll just go back to yelling at Caladrius and Saidaioujou and forget this one ever happened. Edited by Misery, 30 Sep 2013, 05:11 AM.

Yes, this game isn't that good, but i'd rather play a mediocre shmup than some primitive game for intellivision or Atari 2600. No need to rage so much about this:). |

If you hate this, or even just think its a bit unfair (like me) then you should still try the SNES version, it has longer levels but easier bosses, and some bonus stages between levels to raise cash to buy more weapons. Maybe with hindsight we should have played that instead, but due to the longer levels, multiple lives and choice of level order in the SNES version, I thought the straight forward arcade game would be a better choice.

Bah, I have to complain at least somewhat, or it'd be totally out of character for me. And with a name like "Misery" too, hah. And yeah, I think I've played the SNES one, which is part of why this one kinda surprised me. It was like "Geez, I coulda sworn I'd played this before and it was at least decent". Not a game I own on the SNES though. I didnt really find the game to be unfair.... though the damn "huge turrets wont blow up sometime this century" bit was nasty. It's just the sort of thing where I've played waaaaaaayyyyyyyy too many shmups, both good and not as good, to consider this one to be of much quality. The main thing that lost me about it was the enemy patterns. It really was just the same ones over and over and over and over..... Doesnt sit well with my limited attention span. It's too bad, too, as the game's actual mechanics were solid enough. As for more primitive games, hmmm, I actually tend to like them myself. EXCEPT when it's the ones that go bizarrely slow/jerky; some of the Intellivision ones do that. The 2600 never seems to have that problem. I use that thing frequently. Also the Intellivision's controller is made of sadness and tragedy. Not that this contest would require such a thing, but I always have to mention it when that thing is brought up. |

Mis, any score you can post in here will give you a chance of being Champion; it matters not if you hate the game or not. Plus: the all important chance of your game being chosen for the next round. No score posted, no choice of game in the mix. And even if you only post a score of 1 (one) point, it will count as a legitimate entry. We had one guy some years ago posted a score of ZERO on Paradroid (C64) just to get in the mix for the next round. |

87,530 Keep forgetting to use my Special Weapon. Earned enough from L2 to buy best of everything, then forgot to use! Would have beaten this boss otherwise. Next time! And for this boss you get two chances - you turn around and fly back. |

You just need to dodge them, ideally also dodging incoming missiles. Then destroy those smaller turrets with your normal weapon, use 30 x shell/super shell on big laser-shooting turret, another 30 on the bunker shooting bullets in 6 directions and you're off to stage 4. You can also leave the bunker for later, fly a bit further and destroy more stuff for some extra points. |
