I thought it would be cool to have a thread to share restaurants/FEC's that have retrofitted RAE's or MMBB's. This place is called Banjo Billy's and had a retrofitted PTT show! There's lots of footage of it at the 7 minute mark in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWNeES8nGuI And this place is called Marc's Funtime Pizzeria. There's a teeny clip of their show in this commercial (if you can survive the awful voice acting haha). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsfPFoHanHg Edited by Cavity Sam, Nov 11 2014, 07:06 AM.

Yeah. I Had Seen Those. Banjo Billy's Supposedly uses RAE Shows. And Mark's Was where they filmed the 1981 promo before it was converted. Theres also a few more. Jungle Jim's Hypermarket: Has Pasqually(Pedro), The King(Elvis), The Warblettes(Jungle Pets) And Formerly Dolli Dimples. This store also has Other Displays, among these ptt shows. I Wrote to them, and they sent me some postcards & pens.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=uH8DNcyk3vA www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQZlrQOXHyw http://www.junglejims.com/american_grocery/images/pets/Pets2.jpg http://www.showbizpizza.com/photos/misc/elvisshow/index.html And These on SP.com http://www.showbizpizza.com/photos/misc/wizbangs/index.html http://www.showbizpizza.com/photos/misc/pumpkinfest/index.html Interesting.

Found this on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfQeOc24iYQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FazEUEbKaMQ Looks like PTT Helen, two Jaspers and two Pasquallys. The duplicates look like (altered) cosmetics on a different bot, considering the lack of hand movement. Jasper and Pasqually had unique hand/arm assembles to allow them to play their instruments. So internally it might be the whole PTT gang here. The only one that looks restore-able is Helen. Sad. Edit: Apparently this show is still active, because here's some new video from just a few months ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5mQ8TeIYF8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMkK18yZEcY Bots look like they're barely working, though. Are you 100% sure on that? Because from what I've heard even after PTT contracted the armature construction out, they kept the cosmetics construction in-house. Those are definitely PTT Helen's cosmetics, so Helen at least had to have come from a PTT show. I'm doubtful about the non-PTT origin of the others also, considering the shape and construction of the masks. Edited by 80sgirl, Jan 4 2015, 07:18 PM.

Now that you mention it, the dog on the left is definitely the King. Can't believe I didn't catch that. Maybe because he's shown sitting down in the earlier videos. Might be the King's cosmetics on another bot. He's got Chuck's gray eyelids. The panda may have originally been Madame Oink. Kind of hard to tell with the alterations. Bit of a tangent, but.... I have mixed feelings about retrofits. I don't mind the ones where the cosmetics are obviously all new, since the owners may have bought the bots naked. But these types of retrofits where the bots were obviously sold with their original cosmetics that were subsequently butchered just make me angry and upset. One more set of a very scarce number of bots that fans could have enjoyed now only good for parts if they ever come on the market again. Some of the old eBay listings I've seen on Worthpoint for bots actually have descriptions encouraging people to "use them for your haunted house" or "change the appearance of the character before you use them in your store" too. Makes me want to grab these people by the shirt and shake them screaming, "DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND THESE INTACT?!" /rant Edited by 80sgirl, Jan 4 2015, 11:35 PM.

Does it matter who did the retrofit? No matter who was responsible, a set of PTT bots and their cosmetics that escaped destruction when their original home was lost were still ruined. Edited by 80sgirl, Jan 5 2015, 06:07 PM.

I've seen theese while hunting through old PTT stuff. The panda is probably chuck or madame oink with oink cosmetics. ( oink and chuck are similar, so it's indistinguishable without proper inspection.) On CEC Retrofits, Rocky & the rambling rascals are a 2stage MMBB. http://74.220.215.244/~syracus4/projectabsurd/enchantedforest/enchantedforest07142007.htm |

This is one of the reasons we chose to restore Rolfe. When we bought our 4 bots, we had the idea of using them in our own project, since they were just bare mechanics. We still may do a retrofit with the other 3 if we can't find cosmetics and parts at a reasonable price and since they're not in the best condition. But, Rolfe was so close to original, it would have been criminal not to restore him. |

Criminy, that's even worse. Full body bots are even more rare on the secondary market than the PTT bots. |

Unpopular opinion time! I'm perfectly fine [and even support!] retrofits on a few certain conditions:
If I ever get a basic bot with no, or incomplete, cosmetics, I'll follow my on list of rules and retrofit them if I feel like, but always in the procedure that makes it safe for the bots and cosmetics. |

I don't have a problem with retrofits as long as the original cosmetics aren't altered or tossed. Like if someone managed to get their hands on a 3 stage CEC bot with cosmetics and wanted to convert it back to the RAE character, I'd rather see the cosmetics sold to someone who wants them than just thrown away. But obviously the places running the retrofits in this thread don't do that. |
