Hello! I'm a relatively young CEC and Showbiz fan whose love for family entertainment restaurants featuring giant, singing robots has been rekindled by the popular game Five Nights At Freddy's. Please don't take me as one of those annoying kids that only knows about the old restaurants because of the game, because I've been into this little fandom for quite a while now, since I was 10 at least (I'm 17 now), I just never really got into it for whatever reason. Let's see, I guess I'll start by recounting my connection to Chuck's first, since that's what I grew up with. In my area there were once two main CECs, a rather rundown one in a ghetto area that featured a three stage RAE conversion with the weird, lanky looking Munch's Make Believe Band, and a cleaner one in a better area that had a Studio C stage. My dad vastly preferred the cleaner one, but there was something about the ghetto one that fascinated me, and I now realize that the animatronics in that restaurant had a huge impact on my life when I was a child, as that was probably my first time seeing audio-animatronics, well, ever. I can recall that the only one who really scared me was Pasqually. Funnily enough, there's a local pizza chain 'round these parts called Pasqually's that I always used to go to as a kid, so that's where I thought the pizza that CEC serves came from, and Pasqually was their mascot or something. Of course, even before the ghetto CEC closed down the Pasqually's in that area did first, so that threw my little childhood headcanon out the window. I also have a faint memory I had of being chased by Pizzacam down an empty hallway in a nightmare once, so I guess I kind of predicted FNAF in a way. ![]() As you've probably surmised, the ghetto CEC closed down a few years ago. For a while, it was replaced by a used video game store, but then the whole building was torn down. I believe they either built a CVS over the former plot of land, or it had been there from the start and I just can't remember. All I know is there is only a single recording of it on Youtube, and that's about it. Oh well. As far as I know, the CEC in the nicer area is still around, and despite being clean in most areas, it doesn't have the same charm as the older one in the worse neighborhood, so I tend to ignore it, as well as another one that opened up in another nice area. It's like, give me the full band if you're going to make this germaphobe suffer through a loud, stressful environment with screaming kids everywhere! Sheesh! Now then, my experiences with Showbiz Pizza. First, let me shed a little light on the subject of why I'm 17 and I have an unhealthy obsession with the past. I had a very strange childhood compared to many children of the 2000s, as my parents raised me mostly on things from their era, meaning that I had a lot of exposure to older TV shows and movies. A satellite channel that we got for a while, Noggin, was incredible in this regard. It aired classic Sesame Street segments from the 70s, the freakin' Electric Company, and even short little informative bumpers about the production of Sesame Street. I also watched VH1 a lot for whatever reason, and the show that captured my attention the most was I Love the 70s/80s/90s, which was like an anthology series about pop culture from one of those specific decades that catered to a specific year. For whatever reason, I was mesmerized by what had gone on in those eras, and I demanded to know more, even as a child. Then, my big break came. By the time I was 10, I could comprehend how to use the internet, and eventually, my travels brought me to Wikipedia, where I first discovered that mysterious restaurant of Chuck E's past called Showbiz Pizza Place. I was instantly hooked on learning everything I could about it, from its inception to the eventual tragedy that was concept unification. Luckily, thanks to a small subset of dedicated fans, I discovered that a man in my home state had opened a restaurant of his own that used an old RAE band. And, well, even if it was open for less than a year, my 13th birthday was still one of the best I've ever had. I've experienced something that less than 1% of my generation probably will in their whole life, and that's just so cool to think about. So yeah, that's my story as it relates to Chuck E. Cheese and Showbiz Pizza Place. Two interests that I'll probably have for as long as I live, and I'm not ashamed of them at all. ![]() Anyway, if any of y'all really want to know anything about me, then I'll just give a quick summary. I'm 17, and I'm not giving away my home state. But, I guess the first person to guess it could get a free request from me. Just to be nice, since I like to draw. I have liked the Showbiz page on Facebook for quite a while, and if any of y'all wanna add me on there just shoot me a PM and I'll see if you're worth adding. Thanks for reading my novel, everyone! Hopefully the stigma of being a younger CEC and RAE fan has been lifted from my shoulders a bit with my personal story regarding these childhood meccas. |

Hello there! Welcome to the forums. Also, I know how it feels to be a younger RAE/CEC fan. I'm just a year below you in age.

Hey, thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I didn't know there was a blog feature on this website, but I decided to make one just for fun, since I love the RAE so much, I ranked the top 5 characters! Click to read! |

I wouldn't worry about getting criticized about being here because of FNAF. As long as you contribute and don't just spam I don't think anyone will mind. You're definitely not alone. ![]() It's great to see someone younger who is interested in the history of CEC. The early history of PTT in particular is really well documented, since it was linked so closely with Atari and Nolan Bushnell. If you want to learn some neat stuff, I'd recommend checking out the book "Atari Inc: Business is Fun." There's a whole chapter just on the development of Chuck E. Cheese. That's pretty beautiful, but according to some reviews of that book, the grammar is really bad. It's probably nothing that I can't already read here on the site. |

Nah, there's tons of info that's unique to the book. For example, how they were still working out the bugs after the first restaurant opened. They gave a free dinner and show to a group of poor kids and Helen Henny's head rolled off during the performance. I'm still working on reading through it (the book is 800 pages) but I'll post a review of it sometime. |
