I'm surprised I haven't found a topic on this place yet...has anyone else here checked out the 2 OFW locations in Illinois? I usually trek down there maybe 2-3 times a year to see the NRAE (at least the Naperville location). I made a stop there while in Streamwood opening a new CEC this past June to see the show, and quite honestly I think it's pretty watchable considering its one of two NRAE that I know of still in public restaurants. Naperville the employees are usually pretty polite when I ask to watch a few shows...just a shame the last turntable doesn't work so the Dook bot will never be seen by the audience. As far as Tinley Park, the one time I drove there they refused to play the show saying it wasn't working. |

"So they took it apart" Yes they took it apart! I will bring my flashlight with next time I go and take pictures. "is it still there? " Technically, yes! but it is just the mechanisms on the center stage "Can they sell them to us?" I doubt it. " they are fixing them " not to be rude but they are NOT fixing them! I have been going there for 2 years and they have looked the same every time |

Those NRAE shows were problematic to begin with in terms of frequent breakdowns (from what I heard, anyway). I imagine that trying to fix them 20+ years later would be pretty difficult. It would probably be nearly impossible to get them back to 100% again and rather time-consuming and cost-prohibative. And it's not like the guests at the FEC really care if the show is working 100% anyway (sadly...). There's a reason there are so few NRAE shows left and the small handful that are left are in such bad condition (turntables out, etc). Kind of a shame because it was a very cool concept and looked great when it was working as intended. But once those turntables stop moving, it kind of destroys the whole concept and makes the show boring to watch because you end up with a bunch of figures that don't rotate/revolve and have limited movements. This is all just my opinion of course.

I Doubt They would contact Fechter. People don't care or the show there, just us. I Remember seeing a Classic show on YT in like Isreal where the people though CEI Went out and they programmed them themselves. |

I don't know if he could but even if he could, why would you want to spend good money to fix a 20 year old fragile show that is likely to be junked within the next 10 years anyway? If I were them I'd just replace it with a big screen TV running cartoons if/when it stops running entirely. It's just barely working as it is.

If I was in that location, I would offer to fix them up. You can imagine how much better the band could get when you clean the cylinders and valves out. Whew...last time I did those...I was covered in dust! |
