I'm surprised I haven't found a topic on this place yet...has anyone else here checked out the 2 OFW locations in Illinois? I usually trek down there maybe 2-3 times a year to see the NRAE (at least the Naperville location). I made a stop there while in Streamwood opening a new CEC this past June to see the show, and quite honestly I think it's pretty watchable considering its one of two NRAE that I know of still in public restaurants. Naperville the employees are usually pretty polite when I ask to watch a few shows...just a shame the last turntable doesn't work so the Dook bot will never be seen by the audience. As far as Tinley Park, the one time I drove there they refused to play the show saying it wasn't working. |

If it was that easy I think they would've done it by now. The classic RAE is actually a lot easier to repair (by comparison).

Thank you! Also can you try asking for the manager for their plan for the show? Are they doing a complete restoration or are they just going to merge with Naperville location? |

I think a guy claiming to be a tech there messaged the old fourm ages ago trying to find a way to fix the shows (At least the efforts there) I don't know if he went trough it if he was the tech but many members basically told him the chances of it working as it did was really REALLY limited (One even suggested selling the 2 shows off entirely) |

Update... Tinley Park NRAE is up for sale. Do not waste the owner time if you're going to low ball. Expect at least $10,000 for everything. |

Giving you info about the Show!

Does this mean we should remove this location from the RAE list? That only leaves 3 left in America. At least we have one of each type.

Okay, I'm just going to be blunt. Why would anyone buy a NRAE in such poor condition for any amount of money? It's broken-down 22 year old hardware that had issues even when it was brand new (allegedly- according to those who bought the shows brand new in the early 90's). Now in 2015 it doesn't work like it should and it would cost more than the show is worth to any FEC in time and effort to get it functioning at anything close to 100% again. I'm not blaming the seller for trying to sell it and recoup some money out of it, but I can't think of a less worthy thing for any FEC to spend money on than a broken-down animatronics show that will probably never be at 100% again. For $10,000+ I could buy a lot of skill games that would actually make my FEC money. A Classic RAE would make a lot more sense to spend money on- at least that show is reliable and easy to maintain. In my opinion, I say the price is somewhat worth it. I'm an engineer and everything can be easily fixed. Plus, there's less NRAE out there so it's little bit more rare. If I had the space and money, I'll go for it. Still too early for me, I wish it was up for sale about 10 years into the future. I could grab it and restore it to perfect working order. |

Mostly I'd be impressed if anyone ever got non-functioning turntables working again. When those break and the characters and stage stop turning it just ruins the entire concept of the show, visually. |

There can't be much of a market for old, obsolete, broken animatronic shows, can there? Besides, ask yourself why OFW wants to unload the show? They want to get rid of it because they've figured out they can't fix it (at least not at a reasonable price). I mean even if you're just a hobbyist the show is pretty much unfixable (which is kind of a shame because as I've said before when it's actually working as it's supposed to, the NRAE a pretty cool thing to see). Its going to be awhile before someone buys it its not impossible to fix but you would need a lot of help and by the end of it the price would be probably higher then Aarons price to buy his but if you bought Aarons last spare show it would be brand new if you requested it to be repaired "Instead of what FTM did". But I could see a Engineer "Like what ConnorL said" or someone trained in that area to fix it easily

I wouldn't even bother buying a new NRAE show (even assuming I could get one for a halfway reasonable price) because the show has proven itself to be unreliable. The fact that so few of them survive 22 years after production says it all. I suppose getting a modern show system for it would be relatively easy, but the hardware of the show itself is the real problem. The turntables and the bots themselves just don't seem to last all that long. I'm not even sure if you'd be able to run it all day in a FEC for very long without something breaking down within a few months. That's another reason I'd go with a Classic RAE show- it's dependable and built to last if properly taken care of. Edited by PaulKTF, Sep 27 2015, 10:56 PM.
