Greetings fellow fans! Not sure if anyone remembers me from the old board (I believe my username was RetroMan88) but I am very pleased to see that a new message board has emerged for CEC/PTT/SBP fans. I registered on the previous board just before the unfortunate malware infection occurred, so I only made about a dozen or so posts. Anyway, I thought it would only be appropriate to re-introduce myself. I visited Chuck E Cheese's a handful of times growing up in the '90s (I visited the one in Danvers, MA, as I'm from the North Shore) and remember being scared out of my wits by the robots, so needless to say it wasn't my favorite place growing up. Fast forward about a decade to when I was a freshman in high school and began learning about the golden age of arcades. I was shocked to find out Chuck E. Cheese's roots dated back to the '70s, so I did a google search and sure enough Showbiz Pizza.com came up. I read the site often and even lurked on the message boards, but got sidetracked with life and other hobbies. My interest reignited once YouTube started gaining serious traction and I started searching for old commercials, amateur footage, etc. Flash forward to my first semester of college in the fall of 2010 and I decided to register on the SB.com boards as I felt it was time to finally start participating. Needless to say, I was blown away by the amount of history about the animatronics, shows, and general history of both Pizza Time Theatre and Showbiz Pizza. I especially loved the megathread Jonathan Sullivan started where he was sharing pictures of his memorabilia and other PTT-related possessions. Anyone recall offhand what photo sharing site he used for his vintage PTT pics? I've been trying to find it and have come up short, so if anyone knows if his stuff is still out there in cyberspace, I'd appreciate it! I recall he had a three or four-page PTT locations list circa 1983 that was a lot of fun to read, especially comparing that with the location finder on CEC's official site and finding out which current CECs were PTTs back in the day. As my name suggests, I'm into all kinds of retro pop culture, whether it's Godzilla movies, golden age-era (1978-1984) arcade video games, classic Peanuts holiday specials, '50s rock 'n roll, or Coca-Cola collectibles. I'm 26 but I've always been attracted to the pop culture of decades I didn't get to live through, especially the '50s, '70s, and '80s. Don't get me wrong, there's still some great entertainment being made today (I love the How to Train Your Dragon movies, for example), but I've been attracted to classic movies and other pop culture artifacts since childhood. I guess that would make me an old soul! The day scientists ever perfect a time machine, they'd better reserve a spot for me in the queue! I'd love to go back and see PTT and SBP in the early '80s, but for now, the videos are the next best thing to actually experiencing that era. It's good to be back and I look forward to contributing to the friendly, knowledgeable conversations here! |

Welcome to the new forum! I wasn't around for the old board, but I like hearing about the stuff that was on it. Sounds like a lot of information was lost when it went down. Wish the wayback machine had archived the actual posts. All it has is the list of threads. |

Welcome! (or welcome back, I feel like I can't actually say that since I'm brand-spankin' new myself, haha). It's a new board, but hopefully given time and activity it'll be as bustling as the previous one! |

Welcome back! I, too, am a Coca-Cola collector! Only started a few years ago so I don't have much, but I have a few pieces. |

Thanks for the kind words and warm greetings so far, everyone! Glad to see a fellow Coca-Cola collectibles fan here, vahdude. I actually started collecting about a couple years ago myself, but like you I don't have a whole lot. If you check the hobbies thread under The Real World folder, you'll see my brief but fun list of Coke items I've acquired. I'd be curious to know what you've collected, so feel free to jump in anytime!
