Hi! I have a few questions on beginning to restore a RAE (This is out of full curiosity, I am not actually restoring a RAE) Here goes nothing: For the RAE, how would one fix a mask that's paint is cracking or chipping? If you need to repaint something on the mask, what paint works best? How do you get rid of the dirty streaks that appear on the eyes? And finally, what temperature should a RAE be kept at for it to function its best and prevent mask melting? Any help is appreciated! Thanks very much! |

if you mean the Eyes as in Eye Balls Showbizpizzafan used Pine Sol on their Mitzi's eyes and scrubbed the eyes, The temperature should be cool not to cold or you will be wearing coats not to hot either so they don't melt just cool enough to not melt latex, Latex melts at 250 F to 350F depending on the specific mixture and depending if you live in the south or north is a other thing since it is hotter in the south but cooler in the north so if you live in the north you will have a less of a time keeping them from melting except in the summer but in the south i am using Aaron as a example his mask melts easier since it is like summer always there so it is hotter As the paint question you might want to repaint depending on the condition of the mask if it is Melted or if it is like the ones in Scandinavia golf and games you might want to buy new ones, as for what paint that is a question for Aaron my knowledge ends there good luck with this information

Small areas of damaged paint can be touched up with a brush and acrylic paint. I put a little liquid latex in the mix when I repainted Earl's hands. Cracking is more likely to be due to latex breakdown than paint peeling or cracking. If the paint is worn you can repaint with an airbrush. The eyes can be cleaned with cleaner. They're not delicate. Latex masks should be stored in clean, dry, cool environments, away from sunlight. |
