What are the odds of another store/ restaurant popping up and using their own unique (non- retrofitted or already created) animatronics to attract customers?

It looks like animatronics are slowly being phased out........ So I'd say there is a 15% chance.

I know there are some left some with Animatronics and some Without I know there is one Circus World Pizza i am going to call and see if they still have the Show when i go to Kentucky there might be a few more Circus World Pizza's left to. Sadly the ones with animatronic's die out fast I personally wish there was still some around when i was a Kid since i could never get to like the 90s voice actor for Chuck so I only went once

There's almost no chance of another chain starting up to compete. CEC itself is just barely hanging on and both PTT and Showbiz were close to going under together. We're lucky CEC survived to this point. |

I wouldn't say they're just barely hanging on. The company lost money the last two quarters, but that was expected due to acquiring Peter Piper's Pizza. It's not like they're going out of business anytime soon. They've been in a much worse financial position at several points in the company's history and always recovered. But I agree there won't be any big competitors muscling them out. Most FECs are either a single location or a very small chain with just a few stores. About the closest thing is Dave & Busters, and they target an older audience. Honestly I think the companies will merge at some point. |

Doubt it. The market for FECs is so small now that arcades aren't popular anymore. CEC is lucky to have made it this long. Unless their is an unforeseen technological advancement that either makes arcade machines popular again (VR of some kind perhaps?) or advancements in robotics that makes animatronics popular again I don't see it happening. |

Animatronics did get a Recent spike of popularity thanks to Fnaf and some people still like Skee ball and a lot of people play Claw Machines |

FNAF fans and skee-ball aren't going to be nearly enough to support a competitor to Chuck E. Cheese's. The FNAF fad is already starting to slow down. |

The slim chances of a new FEC competitor would really have to offer something that goes above and beyond what was seen in the past. In order for something like that to come into play, like toycollector was saying, a drastic advancement in technology for the game machines and animatronics would probably help out a great deal. But that would have to come from folks who are ready and willing to think outside the box and invest time and research. I don't see that kind of dedication. As for the popularity of FNAF, I don't see how that really helped much. While on some level FNAF did open a gateway for new fans to want to learn more about animatronics and FECs, most of the time, it just leads the FNAF fanbase spamming under YouTube videos pertaining to the RAE, PTT, CEC and other similar content. |

Yeah i agree with you but the FEC in my town without animatronics still is very popular it is not competing anything close to CEC but it still has some places threw out certain states i would find it cool if they got animatronics since they could pull it off in my opinion at least the other ones not the one in my town |

There's a big difference between a single FEC and an entire nation-wide chain of them. |

I think that in the case of arcades, your biggest demographic are people in their 20s-40s (ie. people who experienced them in their heyday). As far as animatronics go, I'd say the appeal is almost non-existent. Definitely not enough to attract/sustain a business by itself. And, considering the demographic for arcades (and most of the successful arcades also being bars), I'm not sure a functioning animatronics show would fit in. -- probably best to create a business based on financial return and not what you love personally. Maybe I'm just a cynic. :/ Edited by Pixel, Jul 12 2015, 10:09 PM.

I find that arcades are just like bowling. As King's appeals to folks who grew up going to those places, it's no surprise Dave and Buster's does just as well in regards to target audience. Animatronics on the other hand, that's probably going to require reinventing the art form. It's either do something that previous FECs never tried before or find a new marketing strategy. From what I've been gathering about animatronics so far, the reason it's considered a dying art form is because aside from cost, it has to do with marketing them with a dead trend. |

They sadly do not have animatronics but they could pull it off in my opinion there is 55 restaurants it is not a big chain but it is probably the only FEC out there with more then one restaurant left http://www.happyjoes.com/index.php Edited by BeachBearFanSppIa, Jul 13 2015, 02:43 PM.
