I've always seen pictures of these, but I wish somewhere out there there was a video of them in action! |

As far as we know, we have no PTT Video of the portrait bots. If Travis can make them move, we might have video of Them from today. Travis is owner of 2 Portraits, Crusty and Chuck E. He also does ShowBizPizza.com. |

Actually, 1st Gen CEC's hat could not rotate. If you look closely at the color picture of him, you will notice that his hat is actually cut in half as well, as the hat's brim shows, preventing any hat movement. 2nd Gen CEC, on the other hand, might have had the possibility of a spinning derby, since he was now a full 3D figure instead of being cut in half and fixed to the wall. Unfortunately, we may never see CEC or Crusty move at all. Travis stated in his restoration thread that the latex on the guys had become too fragile for operation. If he tried to get them moving, it would likely cause irreparable damage to them, especially Chuck and his mouth movement, which would heavily strain the latex and cause it to possibly rip apart. But hey, what do you expect from 38 year old materials? Another blow is that restoring the latex to operational condition would be way too expensive. Oh well! At least we're lucky enough to have the guys in our collection, and that's what counts! Edited by HarmJasp1981, Oct 1 2015, 01:30 AM.

I learned a couple years back there was someone who runs/ran the Disney Extinct Attractions Club who had film/video footage of the 1977 CECPTT show from the first Winchester Blvd. location, but couldn't find it anywhere in his house and I don't know if he really has the 1977 CECPTT footage. I wonder if that 1979 Real People feature on Nolan Bushnell and his CECPTT will ever surface someday, I wish the DECADES channel aired the 1979-1980's Real People TV series in occasion - mostly in a weekend marathon of shows it does. |

I think it's safe to say the original portrait Chuck could move his eyes by circular rotation. Not too long ago Travis posted a picture of him on Instagram. It's tiny, but you can clearly see Chuck looking to the right:![]() Here's another pic for comparison:

[sidenote]I doubt he found 1977 footage, as video cameras were really expensive, and could even be the 1982 Commercial, the oldest video we have. If Travis hasn't found it, I Doubt he has.. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have it.[/sidenote] |

There was that 1979 commercial on the old forums I am also trying to replicate a portrait Chuck. I'm guessing it will be done in the end of summer 2016. Edited by CECArizona, Oct 1 2015, 07:15 PM.

Then it's settled! Bottom line: MUST. GET. FOOTAGE. Also, do we still have a hold on that 1979 commercial? If so, could someone upload it to YouTube and/or post a working link to it? |

I'm not even sure that 1979 commercial mentioned on the old forums is actually from 1979. A lot of the commercials on YouTube have the year misidentified. There's even one the poster claims to be the first that's selling the Chuck E. Cube. |

The December 1979 first ever CEC corporate newsletter (which would become the Pizza Times corporate newsletter) mentions there's a 1979 CECPTT TV commercial made and airing on TV. Even the 1979 CECPTT franchise brochure mentions TV commercial advertising for CECPTT locations. |

Yeah, I know there was a commercial made in 1979, just not sure the one they're talking about is it. There's a lot of videos out there with the wrong dates on them. |

I don't know if corporate would have these commercials and footage as well as photos because when showbiz pizza bought them they discarded Anything thy couldn't use again(such as possibly the original Winchester bot) |

Where? I have that feeling like I've seen 1st Gen Foxy Colleen somewhere. Do you mean the 1st Gen Chuck or the 2nd Gen Chuck. |

Well, on a side-note, this picture of Chuck E. Cheese shows him looking to the right as well... it supports both sides of the issue. Chuck E. Cheese is looking to the right, just like the picture above, implying that his eyes were almost always positioned to the right. Chuck E. Cheese is looking to the right, just like the picture above, implying that he could move his eyes right, and possibly left. |
