The Announcement Regarding Editing Your Posts


As some of you have expressed recently, you've found that you're unable to edit certain posts, if at all. Some of you have also sent PM's to the staff asking to edit certain posts, or certain parts of a post, and trust me, we've heard them all.

The answer to this dilemma is this. *I* changed the editing capabilities on your posts, and the reason is actually quite simple.

The Staff Team (myself included, as well as mods) discussed whether you all should be allowed to keep your editing capabilities or not, as we've found a lot of issues with them lately. Not with the editing capabilities, but the outcome of them. By that, we mean that we've found that when fights break out, after a while, posts will be edited, and we don't know the whole story, because we simply can't see it.

With that in mind, we changed the editing capabilities for our member-base to a limited-time-to-edit, so we -AS A STAFF TEAM- are able to moderate the forums, and make fair judgements for everybody, rather than certain people getting in trouble because of information that we can't see.

That having been said, we trust that you all will make wise judgements in your posts, and treat everyone fairly as we've been asking for the past year and a half, for without respect, what is this forum? We trust that you all understand this decision, and that you all follow through with this request that we've brought to the table, and that you continue to enjoy your time on the forums!!

As far as editing posts go, feel free to contact the mods, and they should be able to edit those posts for you, WITHIN reason. As far as editing them yourself, again, remember, you have a window to edit them, but after that window is gone the post will remain as it is.

That's why there's a time frame. If you can't get it done within that time frame, then you can ask a Moderator.

There arev some curse words to be added to the fiter, i have made typos causing me to post those words and i cabt edit them for a while

I disagree with this so much... I mean seriously... there's so many people out here that make these important lists like my Pizzacam one and stage one, but now we have to awkwardly ask a mod for a teensy change... that's like asking your mother if you can go to the bathroom... just awkward and annoying for her to answer and you to ask...

Umm... how do you guys intend for our lists to be updated now? You removed useful functionality here because of a small handful of cases of "you not being able to see edits" however, the majority here needs their lists to be updated weekly or even daily. Is there a compromise for this??

Maybe you could like ask a "Past Revisions" button that shows what they said before so fights don't break out, but other than that, I'm just gonna have to find another forum because I can't and will not ask a mod to change everything for me... because I use forum coding and I add that stuff to my posts. I can't even edit my comission shop to add more coding... :/ Forum mods can't do that because it can take hours to make it look right. They don't have that time...

I agree... I kind of also want a compromise for this or else I'm gonna have to gather my stuff and move to another forum...

We demand our edit privilages... there is another forum to move to if not. And we got an awesome dude who is a genious future mechanical engineer on that forum. Shame he was banned.



The admins have really chose our bad side. I THINK MAC TONIGHT SHOULD BE IN CHARGE!!! SHE IS THE MOST RESPONSIBLE AND UNDERSTANDING!!!

I can understand some of your frustrations in the edit function for major posts such as the CEC locations, for sale sections, etc... otherwise, it's just people abusing the edit function.

Rule of the thumb is to take your time to think before posting, "Is it allowed on the forum? Is it insulting? etc etc".

Currently, I think it's good idea to keep this function removed till the audience calms down and it possibly could return.

One suggestion, the original post or the "topic starter" should have the ability to edit the post as it's mostly made up of lists, for sale, updates, etc etc.

It also would be neat to show a revision history for the "topic starter" edits.

Okay, so lets not get too bent out of shape over this. We're willing to work with you to find a compromise, but we've found that we have difficulty fairly moderating the forum when content goes missing for no reason. So, our intention is not to restrict you, but to protect you.

Frankly, we didn't think about the lists, so thank you for bringing that problem up.

So, how do you propose that we keep content that needs to be reviewed in case of dispute between members? And, keep in mind that it's not as easy as just adding a button that does stuff. We have to work within the parameters set by the board structure.

I'm sorry, but there is no possible way to set only specific people to having this removed. Which is why it was done to the group as a whole.

HOWEVER, seeing this lashout from certain members has me wondering if we should let y'all have these PRIVILEGES back, as the amount of disrespect and actions from said members actually shocks me.

I've been part of this member base for almost 2 years, and for quite a few before that (when we had the old forum).

I'm sure I could find a workaround for this, however, this would also mean a lot more work for us as a staff team, and we work as hard as we can to make sure this is a safe environment for all of you. HOWEVER, I've not been able to find that workaround, so there's not much we can do.

By the way, it's insane that y'all are gonna pack up and move to another forum (ADVERTISING FOR THAT FORUM) over one small thing. Not to mention, whoever used my name to register for the other forum, not cool, because I never registered, so nice try, LOL

More and more members are being INCREDIBLY disrespectful to staff when they don't want to punish you and want the forum to be at its best and strive. They said they're trying to compromise but I wouldn't even do it if you act this entitled and disrespectful with all this sass. If you're gonna be this rude then go to another forum.
