I am very saddened and disappointed to report that there was a failed attempt to hack and shut down our forum last night by 2 or 3 members over at the new Retro Pizza Forum site. We have evidence of this attempt in writing in our possession. Forum staff was up past 3 this morning working to round up those responsible and ban them from our forum. From what we have gathered, multiple people were going through a VPN (virtual private network) to disguise their IP addresses, with Pttraefan as the ringleader. These accounts were able to sneak under the radar until we dug deeper. Pttraefan, CECrockafire, mrs. helen cheese, Doofatronic, Cecarkansas were all linked to and were possibly used by Pttraefan at different times for whatever reason to fool members. He is currently going by the name rockafirefan on his Retro Pizza Forum site. He was aided by show bizz pizza, (known as Jasper T. on the Retro Pizza Forum). Please be aware that all usernames listed above have full intentions of doing harm to our forum and we cannot have that. The administrative staff on the Retro Pizza Forum site are not looking for friendly compaction and are not affiliated with Retro Pizza Zone at all. We recommend you stay away from that negative environment and let any staff member know via PM if you find any other suspicious user accounts. Please let this be a reminder that when forum staff eliminates an individual or individuals there is a good reason. The entire staff was slowed down from earning a living and making a paycheck because of the happenings of yesterday and the attempt to restore order. In the future, if you have a problem with a decision that the forum staff has made regarding a member - the most appropriate thing to do is PM the staff privately. One reason order got so out of control yesterday was because there was a public thread with an audience. Everything that transpired and every staff decision yesterday was made for a reason and that is to keep everyone here safe..... that is our primary goal, plain and simple. Now having said all that, I’d like to address the other issue about edits. We’d like to assure everyone and apologize about the edits issue. It was a definite oversight on our part about editing lists. We were slowed down from addressing this legitimate issue yesterday. I would like to assure everyone that we will be discussing this issue very soon, it will be addressed, and we will come up with something that will work. I’d like to drive my point home, that had members just respectfully PMed the forum staff we would have identified the oversight and worked with you. Again, the topic spiraled because there was a negative audience. I would like to suggest to everyone that private PMing becomes normal practice. One other issue I’d like to bring up that has been bothering me is - just because you have an opinion does not mean you have to take so much pride in it publicly. That’s kind of why, in my opinion, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook have become such wastelands for our fan community. We'd like to think of our Forum as above all that, and strive to practice safe standards. Please remember to respect each other and be good to each other on social media! You may not realize it BUT you are the fandom’s “good will ambassadors” and you represent the brand. The reputation of the brand seems sometimes tarnished at times due to people and their actions. Just because you’re behind a keyboard and people can't physically see your face, you are still representing the brand with your words and actions. The next time you’re possibly looking to start a confrontation with another member of the fandom, please remember these words, “Words can hurt more than physical actions.” Together, one post at a time, we can make this fandom the best it can be. It starts with YOU though. Thanks for reading and continue enjoying your time here on Retro Pizza Zone Forum! |

Very well said. Stay safe, guys! While we don't want to have to babysit you, we all still care about each and every one of you and don't want you getting into trouble or getting hurt. While we're doing all we can, it's ultimately up to you to be safe and smart on the internet. Just, please, trust us. |

Alright, time for my slight rant, but don't take this in vain. When we say we're discussing things, trust me, WE ARE. We actually have a lot to do regarding the forum and its members, and it's not always easy. PLEASE remember though, that we are volunteering our time as well (as proved last night). When stuff of this nature happens, we as staff strive to make sure the issue is resolved. That's why we'll try to take care of it, whether it's at work, at home, in mid sleep, and so on. We take time out of our day to juggle this and the stuff we have to do. It's not easy, but we do it because we love this forum. We've put time and effort into this forum, since October 10, 2014. That's a year and a half, already. To explain a little more on what happened yesterday in general, regardless of how certain members acted, I know for a definite that Jacob and myself had to take care of this during work hours. In MY case, I can get in trouble for even being on my phone at work. We had staff members keeping watchful eyes on everything, it was hectic. Around 8:30 last night, I personally arrived home and immediately hopped onto my computer as the situation seemed to be getting worse. I didn't eat my dinner. Around 8:45-9:00, I got into a Skype call with a couple of people (names will be left out so y'all don't nag them to Skype). As one of them had to get to bed, another joined, and myself as well as these two others continued the call, battling this situation, while one was watching their forum closely. I personally was contacting people to ensure our safety, as well as tweaking settings on our boards to ensure that nothing would happen. Things continued to follow through, and by the time things even remotely started to simmer down, it was 2:30am. I still had not eaten, I was beyond stressed (two people to vouch for me there) and I get getting progressively angry. I got fed up to the point where I ate a small dinner at 2:30am. Good potato salad in my system lifted my spirits, and by 3am we all decided it was time for bed. This is just a small idea of the time and efforts we put into the forums, and we still do!! We may not respond right away, or respond how you'd like, but we try our best to guarantee your safety in any way possible. We've always been lenient, but we also try to do what has to be done, and in the RIGHT way. There may or may not still be threats to the forum, but we're trying our hardest to make sure nothing bad happens. Please remember guys, we do this for you. We love this fandom, we love topics and whatnot, but the efforts are for y'all. With all of that being said, as far as I am aware, things have simmered down, and there should be no major problems, but if there are, PLEASE feel free to message ANY of the staff members, as they're all willing to help. In addition to that, as Jacob said, we're looking into the list thing, and we promise we'll find a compromise for this!! Please be patient! Thank you guys again for being patient the last couple of days!! -Brandon |

....I just noticed something, mrs.helen cheese was member number #666...Retro Trash was the one who pointed it out, but maybe it was a sign. Anyhow, thank you all for trying to keep this place a safe forum. The fact that HACKING was involved in this is crazy. |

I haven't even been on the forums for a couple weeks because of school, and MAN did I miss alot! Its really not cool or fair when people can't play by the rules. It makes things miserable for everyone. The fact that there was also "hacking" done is also sad. If everyone played fair we wouldn't have stuff like this come up. No one would be banned. And it's also sad when people get banned on here because thanks to our awesome RPZ Team, we have a fun and safe environment to enjoy and interact with other fans with the same intrests. It was very rare for that event to come up, but in the slightest chance of it happening agian, please, just follow the rules and be fair. We're doing you a favor.

Trying to take down a website because you were banned?! That's pretty childish. Even if they were kids, it's still immature and unreasonable. |
