This is a link to a YouTube video to a vintage promo film regarding the Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Virginia theme park (Then called THE OLD COUNTRY) from 1976: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylxYR3OC57c At the 12:42-12:47 mark you will see in the film footage a few seconds of a walkaround rat that is quite similar to the Rick Rat walkaround costume (the inspiration for Chuck E. Cheese) that was created by Nolan Bushnell a few years prior to the CECPTT 1977 launch. And the Rick Rat-ish walkaround for Busch Gardens Williamsburg is yellow instead of gray. It might be the age of the film. A lot of the colors look off. |

It is yellow, 80sgirl. I suppose Atari bought the costume and repainted it gray. |

I wish Jul Kamen and/or Kathy Hopp knew about this Old Country 1975-1976 Rick Rat-ish walkaround. |

I was actually talking with Travis about the Rick costume. He said that It was a standard design that had more than one made. He also appeared at Casa Bonita restaurant, which is the same one Nolan ended up with. So the company that made him probably had more than 1 style. https://www.facebook.com/showbizpizzacom/photos/a.307884760553.333804.242019870553/10153967433105554/?type=3&theater Neat stuff! |
