Suggestion: Post Limit

Seeing as certain members on here are making 13-15 posts a day (which is completely unnecessary by any standard tbh) I believe there should be a post limit for users on here.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with being an active member, but when you're bumping 30 ancient topics a day it gets a little trying for the more mature members on here.

Heh. Just as I send a report about that, this pops up. Funny that. But yeah, definitely a bit of an issue with this, though, I'm not sure if a post limit is the solution. Wouldn't be against it, personally, but I dunno.

I feel like it should only be applied to spamming members and people who are TRYING to bump up the posts to become the "#1 poster of the day".

I have to agree with Mr. Ruxpin on this one. There is a fine line between contributing for the good of the community and spamming posts. I think a post limit really cripples a forum in so many ways. If a person has a lot to say and is contributing a lot to the table here, I don't see the issue. I don't know why we're so upset at the number of posts people make on this site per day, it shouldn't really be something that gets everyone so upset.

I agree. I don't think the issue is the number of posts, but that the issue is actually people posting in multiple topics that haven't been posted on in months when they are only going to say something that isn't necessary.

I don't think limiting the amount of posts for everyone is a good idea.. it could halt participation as well when someone actually has valuable information to help someone.

Just a more strict rule about bumping old threads would be nice.

I sometimes have information I would like to post in the shoutbox but there is not a moderator approval list for it, it drives me insane.

How about when you create a thread, you can create a post per-day limit for your thread? For one, several, or all people on the forum? I understand that this is near if not impossible to implement through ZetaBoards, but creating a post limit is near if not impossible as well.

I think it should be a situational post limit. Someone has a clear tendency towards necroing and spam posts that don't contribute anything? Temporary post limit for say, three or four days, then lift it. Something like that. I think we can all think of at least one member we wish this could have been implemented for, but it would probably vary from member to member lmao.

well i dont personally think you should punish a person for posting alot. Just saying since alot of people on here do it sometimes.

When I saw this on the board, I had to check it out. Because once when writing a reply to one of my fanfics or something, I got a glitchy message saying that I had to wait about fifteen minutes before posting again. :ermm: Plus what's weird was that the box that appears with- for example- the “Topic Created” message and other messages too, said “Topic Created” and there was no space between the 'D' (in the “Topic Created” message) and the message that appeared afterward. I forgot what the message said, but...I think it's something about...time between posts or something like that... Like let's say- Okay, I don't know how to explain it because I don't really remember what the message said...but it did say I had to wait fifteen minutes but allowed me to post my reply after waiting about a minute... :-/ But yeah, I came here after seeing this on the main Board on RPZ (or whatever you call it that has the shoutbox) and decided to see if this was the case (since I thought it was accepted). :)

But I do agree with everyone here! :munch3: I would like to be able to post information I know (if I wanted to add information to the post) and adding a post limit would probably affect how many posts you could do in the Stories or Writing board as well, so if someone posted a fanfic up and wanted to do updates, they probably couldn't, unless it'd only affect how many topics on a certain board you could post a day. :) But by affecting updates in fanfics, it would affect you posting replies to people and it would also affect your ability to update as well (if you reached the post limit). :ermm:

But if it's repeatedly off-topic and the person who does the off-topic posts intentionally would keep doing it, the poster responsible should have a ban. Well, several warnings before the ban though, to be fair... And if the off-topic posts keep coming after a certain amount of warnings, the person should have a temporary ban (or something) and receive a PM by the Mods or Admins or whatever stating the reason they were banned.

Well basically just have it work like the Code of Conduct on banning (and how the PMing thing works). :ermm: Sorry, I'm just trying to make sense here. XD
By the way, the glitchy part of the message that appeared was what I mentioned above: No spaces between the word “Created” and the message that appeared after that. And it saying that the topic was created was glitchy, too, since I wasn't posting another post on the forum that was new. XD

Dude. You've literally made 4 objection posts in this single thread. :P You're not really helping your case here.
(And since you're gonna respond to this, 5 :jasper2: )

Yeah... the only outright objections I've seen on this thread are from the kind of people who have a potential to need such a restriction. It's not helping any of such parties' cases...
