Idk why but I felt like making a topic about Peter Piper Pizza. I don't like it that much but I'm surprised it was never brought up over here. A little history. The first Peter Piper Pizza location opened up in 1973 in Glendale, Arizona. It started out small and a few more locations opened in the 80s. Still kind of small but by the 90's they really needed to amp up their marketing campaign. They made a few commercials to attract visitors and the sales went up a lot. They eventually had 50 locations in the state of Arizona. In 1995 they bought out a competing chain called Pistol Pete's Pizza and converted almost all locations to Peter Piper. They were also opening Peter Piper locations in California, New Mexico, Texas and Mexico. By the 2000's they were well known all over the country even though they were only in the Southwest. Eventually they started opening some locations in the Midwest but they didn't do that good and closed later. By the 2010s things started changing for them and they started loosing money. Most kids by then didn't go to arcades anymore and played video games at home. In 2014 CEC Entertainment bought them out. They helped them with advertising and remodeling almost every location that was open at the time. To this date Peter Piper Pizza is still doing good and they are opening more locations soon. If you are visiting Arizona I recommend you to check out the very first Peter Piper location in the Glendale Plaza Shopping Center in Glendale, AZ. It's still open to this date and it is four minutes away from the Chuck E Cheese's in Phoenix. |

That was a competing chain called Pistol Pete's that Peter Piper bought out. By 1996 all RAE shows were gone. Luckily both known Arizona Pistol Pete's locations got away from them. The 43rd one was found by Peter Piper and got shut down in 1997 or 1998. The other known one was in the Central Place shopping center and they changed their name to Pepi's Pizza to keep their Rock-afire Explosion show. That one was never shut down by PPP but the franchise owners eventually had to do it in 2008 because they weren't making much money anymore. The show from 43rd ave went to the Chuck E Cheese's in Phoenix, AZ to use for spare parts. It was dismantled in 2006 when they became corprate. The entire RAE was sent back to corporate and they used the parts for other 3-Stage shows. Anyways, the Pepi's show is unknown right now but they did have it when they closed in 2008. |
