Moving aside from the little conversation that the above members are making that prove your point,
Are you referring to CEC Indiana and I? If you are, are you implying that disagreement and conflict in discussion is a bad thing?

I hate to post even more in this thread, but it's one of those things that bugs me. I was calmly and legitimately trying to discuss this issue honestly while doing my best to not be snippy. I don't think I or Indiana said anything rude or drama-y, I thought it was a just a normal disagreement worthy of discussion. Challenging and discussing opinions is the only way to get things done, more often than not.

If I'm mistaken about your intent with that statement, my apologies. I see both a lot passive-aggressive nonsense and shutting down of any and all conflict around here. I'm a little sick of it, so if I've misinterpreted and you meant something else, well, that's embarrassing for me more than anything. I mean, I just wrote at least a paragraph rebutting nothing if that's the case. Otherwise, I totally can get behind your other ideas.
I apologize if I came off that way. I was not talking about you guys, or singling anyone out.

I only meant that I would not get involved with anyone else's conversation. I would never say anything mean that would hurt someone's feelings. Nobody has done anything wrong right here.

I encourage you guys to talk about whatever you feel, because we are all friends here. That sentence was my bad.

Nah, man, it's all good. All I wanted to understand was your intent, because intent is really important in understanding context. No harm, no foul.

I think you guys need to adhere to COPPA-it's a US law that places a lot of restrictions on websites that serve kids under 13. That's why most websites don't let kids under 13 make accounts. I don't know all the ins and outs but I think it is something the mods need to look into further to make sure.
But the person who is signing up on RPZ could lie about their birth date to get in. :ermm: Because there's something when you sign up that asks what your birth date is, you can probably easily sneak by and go to your profile and change your birth date to your original birth date. So I think that if someone is underage and lies about their birth date (and acts inappropriately), I'd say- like a user above the one I'm quoting said- give a temporary ban. If they still act up...take their privileges away by giving them a post limit.

If that can't work, if someone lies about their age and acts inappropriately- actually we should start doing this probably- disable the option to change your birth date on your profile (since I don't see why you still can) and still continue to leave the option to show your full birth date, your month and day of birth, or completely hide your birth date (or whatever that other option is). If they lied about their birth date and don't act maturely, just give them a temporary ban and once you lift the ban, if they continue to act immaturely, give them a longer ban. Or you can give them a ban and not lift it until the day they reach 18 if you can see the birth year of that person who hid their birth year (as a staff member). :-/ Besides, I'm sure every member's birthday is logged by the website so... *shrugs* :ermm:

People here have confessed to being underage. In other sites I go on if someone confesses to being under 13 they get banned with zero exceptions because COPPA is federal law and most sites don't want to go through all the special rules to comply with it.

It's probably not my business, but if there's any proof at all that anybody in underage, yet they act like a mature adult then nothing should happen. However, if there's proof that somebody is underage and they act like they are, a permaban may be in order.

I hate to name names, but Mr. Ruxpin is actually a good example. He's underage yet acts maturely. He doesn't make anybody else mad as frequently as some, and he mostly just keeps to himself. He doesn't need to be banned.

But, say if somebody joined the forum, told everybody they're underage and then behave in a manor that is immature and/or causing the forum to gain a bad reputation, I would say the banhammer should be placed in effect.

I haven't notice any "extreme" drama. For the most part it seems to me things have mostly cooled down since that weird instance were someone said they were going to "hack us".

However I may be wrong. I'm mostly wrong.

I think there shouldn't be an age requirement and that anyone acting immature just gets banned. Make it a rule.
It kinda makes it unfair for the underage mature people who want to join RPZ.
