Most fans have seen these videos come up in their feeds, showing a CEC that dis-franchised and became "Fun Zone & Pizza", in Chico California.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8EtubUJ76w ("No more Chuck E Cheese!?" 2011) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4nqebm43CI ("No More Chuck E Cheese: Aftermath" 2011) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLdBhKEfmbI ("It's STILL closed" 2015) Which closed and sold all of the store art, games, and bots(3 for $100!). They left it abandoned for a while..I checked Google Street View to see if it was still there, and it wasn't! It's being re-developed as of November. (Google's "timeline" feature shows that it was Fun Zone & Pizza until August)

Wow! I've actually seen the first two videos of this strange, former CEC a long time ago. Then, I saw the third video last year. Now, it's actually being redeveloped! I can't believe it! It's so strange how a CEC location could end up like this! Thanks so much for the update! |

I wonder how the showtapes worked out if these were just generic animal friends---- |

There was no showtapes. The bots just sat there aired down. I heard they also used DirecTV to play on the TVs in the store. |

That would explain the Wubzy in the background of the first video. If the franchise owner is still operating the Redding, CA store I'd love to talk with them about how all this happened and if it was a success to them. |

In the video he says they didn't have the money to remodel so CECE closed them. |

I believe he says they couldn't afford to remodel so CEC pulled the franchise license. They could have in theory stayed open as an independent FEC but it looks like they couldn't make a go of it without the CEC branding. Edited by PaulKTF, Dec 30 2016, 05:37 PM.

I believe Menutia and then 80sGirl also said that they used frozen pizzas and sourced prizes from *not* Corp. I think these were all posted as well. Some videos of Chico when it was a CEC - both Phase 3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGT8IAgCskk ("SANY0025.MP4" 2008) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfRkUliCerA ("T.J.'s 3rd Birthday Party at Chuck E Cheese" 2008) Between 2008 and 2011 they remodeled to Phase 4. |

Actually, Corporate wanted to remodel it to Phase 4 in 2011, The franchise owner said no, Chico CEC Got shut down and became Fun Zone & Pizza. Just a correction.

They at least got somewhere:![]() They painted the walls purple, a Phase 4-geared move. That's what led me to believe they remodeled. Upon closer examination the showroom posters are just re-skinned Phase 3 record posters. |

I remember seeing those videos. I thought the animatronic mechs looked weird in the video where they showed everything in the store was being sold off. I've seen animatronic mechs before in other videos but those black body mechs looked weird. |

Those are plastic 'Body Molders' so the cosmetics look proper around the mechanics. Underneath them are the regular cylinders & metal.

Ah that explains much. I also noticed it looks like they removed the normal mech heads most likely to stick the mascot costume heads on after they lost the franchise tag. |
