I thought this topic deserved its own thread. I just heard on the 1st Quarter conference call that 25 locations will be remodeled in between now and the first quarter of 2019. They didn't mention where the locations would be but I believe they will be "spread out" in different markets. Stores will be staying open during the remodeling process. So, you just might find your local CEC changing sometime in the next year.

Well yeah but the 2.0 remodels are meant to look forward to the future long-term. Studio C was introduced 20 years ago (!) under different management in a different era altogether. And yes, it was pretty poorly thought out with how expensive it would've been to replace everything with Studio C Alphas. Man, I can't believe Studio C is that old already! Time flies... |

I woul think Natick or Wilmington could close within the next 10 years. I felt like I released tbe next list of CEC Clousures >_<. Wilmington DE could probably get some sort of 2.0 remodel. |

Don't forget Pasadena CA, Newark CA, and Tampa FL. I don't think any New England stores on the list. I think they'll wait until 2.0 flops. Phase 5 is now discontinued. A Garland store got the 2.0 exterior and Phase 4 interior. Edited by RPCEC, May 13 2018, 07:58 AM.

Avenger Phase 3 isn't that bad but if we are talking tux era or Phase 2 in my book. That is a whole different story which there is still a lot left. Garland has been put on delay for 2.0 remodels but should resume soon. They were Phase 4 for almost a decade. Edited by CECArizona, May 13 2018, 07:56 PM.

Pasadena and Tampa are NOT on the list for 2018. You guys can speculate all you want...but 2.0 isn't hitting every store that's rumored...at least not for this year. |

Instead of wasting time speculating about what store will be remodeled when, why not go and enjoy your favorite CEC locations now as they are now while you still can? That's what I'd do.

I think CEC is in trouble. I keep reading more about a possible store closing than I do about a store opening. If they don't do something fast, it will go the way of Toys R Us |

Yeah, I've noticed that too. That's really the whole reason why CEC 2.0 is being enforced, the company hasn't been doing too hot these past several years, and unless they take drastic measures (2.0), the company will probably be in trouble. If profits remained as they were since the early 2000's, we probably never would've seen Rockstar Chuck, and 2.0 would likely not be as much of a drastic change (Heck we could still be in the Phase 4 era for all I know). |

Amarillo isn't a high volume store but in Houston and Dallas it's happening. Any older stores will probably be closed an relocated to a new spot like FM-1960 for an example. They opened in the 80's and corporate is looking to close older stores. |

It makes sense to close older stores that were build or configured during the PTT era. A lot has changed since then. The upshot to this is they'd probably relocate to a space in a better area that will allow more room for games and more seating. |

Any news about the Utah locations? Layton seems to be the most likely to be remolded. Edited by PizzaCade and the CyberStars, May 18 2018, 09:30 PM.

CEC took a break from opening stores to focus on developing the 2.0 concept as well as Peter Piper, understandably. The 2.0 remodels will come with more store openings as well over the next few years, guys. Just because CEC is removing the shows and doesn't look like it did while you were growing up does not mean they are in financial trouble Just for the record in case anybody misinterprets that, though - I am opposed to removal of animatronics strongly, but not the 2.0 concept. 2.0 will not cause financial struggles for the company most likely. https://www.pizzamarketplace.com/news/chuck-e-cheese-parent-reports-troubling-q4-financial-results/ I think when people mentioned the company’s struggles they where referring to articles like this not 2.0 itself |
