What is your ARM community story?; What led to your joining the board, and what are your most memorable experiences?

Some of you may already know, but I've been working on a project here, to create a group of characters based on each of the boards: Weezy, Isisview and Zeta, that A Reyvateil's Melody has had over the past few years, to serve as a kind of mascot for the ARM community.
Each would have a personality formed around the different boards, so in order to get a better grasp of how they should be formed, I figured that I would create a topic where users can share and describe their own experiences and interpretations of each board over the years.

If altogether possible, please try to answer the following questions in your own post:
When and how did you first find out about, and develop an interest in the Ar tonelico series?
How did you discover, and what led you to join the A Reyvateil's Melody community?
Which board did you first join, and spend the most time on?
What are the most memorable events that you can recall, from each board you were a member of?
Was there a particular feature that the board had, that you either liked or hated?
Did you have a favorite theme, if so, why and what were the most dominating colors in it?
If the boards were a living character, how would you describe them, particularly their habits, personality traits, interests and profession?

Okay, to kick things off, I should probably explain my reasons for becoming a fan of Gust first.
In my younger days, I was deeply into games like: Sonic The Hedgehog, Mega Man X, Jet Motto, etc.
But it wasn't until my early teens that I discovered RPGs; which soon became my dominant interest, as far as video games were concerned.
Among some of my favorites, at that time, were: Chrono Trigger, Grandia and Seiken Densetsu (Secret of Mana).
While on GameSpot searching for games in the 'Mana' series, the Gust game: 'Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana' keyed in, and I loved everything about what I saw; so I bought it, and have been a fan of Gust's games ever since.
At this particular point in time, I was a regular user of Gaia Online, and eventually created a guild there, which I called: 'Salburg Cathedral'.
Needless to say, Salburg was guild for fans of Gust's games, so I went around searching for people on the site that had added words like: Atelier, Gust, and eventually Ar tonelico (this was before it came out) to their profile, sending as many of them invitations to join the guild.
The guild lasted about a year or two, and it was during that time that I discovered the main page (not the board) of A Reyvateil's Melody.
Now understand, I had been around the internet for awhile, and at that time, it was more difficult to find fans of Gust's games.
Most people that I knew who were into RPGs, had either never heard of or played the games, or were far too into other series to start a new interest.
Not to mention the lack of exposure that most websites like: GameSpot and IGN; gave the games, as far as they were concerned, the only RPG franchises that existed at that time were: 'Final Fantasy', and a few others like the: 'Tales of' series.
So there I was, a person that saw myself as one of a few people that was truly passionate about a certain company's games, feeling almost alone in the world, only to discover a website dedicated to one of said company's game series.
When I discovered the forum, and the massive number of members that were fans, it gave me a feeling of mixed emotions.
Now, don't get me wrong, I was overjoyed, but deep down it felt a little intimidating at first.
Before: conversation with other person: "That's awesome, you know a lot about this! :cute: "
After: conversation with ARM member: "Yeah, I already know that, where have you been the last year? :) "
I must admit, my pride was somewhat injured, but I got over it.
What astounds me the most about A Reyvateil's Melody, was has how incredibly wide the community spreads, yet at the same time, it feels as if the world has become a smaller, more local place since I joined.
I know that sounds confusing, but what I mean to say is that after joining I've gradually run across familiar names and avatars (some of which I edited the graphics on), in the most unlikely of places.
After searching topics completely unrelated to the board, I'll find a page, and look down to see a picture of Aurica or some other character from the series, with a user name that I recognize attached to it.
So, onto my actual time here.

Weezy board:
I really hate the fact that I was a latecomer, the board shut down only a few months after I joined, so there is not much I can say regarding it.
But it was during this time that it felt a little intimidating, not because of the people or atmosphere that they created, if anything that was entirely positive.
The reason it felt intimidating was my own folly: for a couple of years I had been going around trying to promote 'Gust's great games' wherever I went, among what I saw as a vast number of people that were either unaware or disinterested in it's existence; only to find a haven where people just as, and in many cases more passionate about Gust's games than I was; which made me feel like an absolute failure and idiot, that had wasted far to much time running around the very place they were trying to find.
It also felt like I had to be working hard at something just to be accepted, and much of this was just an illusion put on by my own sense of pride, which is rarely a positive trait amongst humans.
When the board shut down, I went back to tending Salburg on Gaia.

Isisview:
After a short while I found that ARM had moved to a new board and server, and eagerly joined.
For me, Isisview was like a new beginning, where with Weezy I was late to arrive, on the new board I had the opportunity to join fairly early, I recognized many of the members right off the bat, and it felt very welcoming.
I have to say that my time on Isisview would definitely be some of the most fun and enjoyment I've had since I first started using the internet.
There are so many nice and talented people online that I have had the privilege to meet over the years, and a good number of them were members of the Isisview board.
The start of Isisview's chat room in particular was a huge launch in this, all of a sudden you could talk with the other members in an instant, and the sheer amount of outrageously funny, rapid-fire humor it sparked, is something I will never forget; from the: 'over dramatized lover's quarrels', to the highly amusing: 'RPs', to: 'man gives birth to teen son', the level of enjoyment it produced is like no other chat room I've seen.
Another great feature with Isisview was the Wiki, a place where members could come together and share information on a common project, or create their own pages to display their works.
A couple of the community projects that come to mind, would have to be the ARM game, and the An Ordinary Life visual novel.
After several strong years, the activity eventually subsided, and we relocated yet again to a new board and server.

Zeta:
After installing myself on the new board, I decided to restart a few of my older projects that I had been neglecting over the years (pretty much. . . everything. :^^;: ).
The servers were still up on Isisview, so I would often write a post on one board, and in some cases copy it to the other.
As the level of activity gradually shifted over to Zeta from Isisview, it soon reached a point where all of my time was spent here.
In most cases, there are certain threads that I will check back with regularly, but I can't say that I'm as active as I once was, and a lot of this is simply do to Gust's shift to the next gen consoles; as the last Gust games that I bought were released in the PS2 and DS area, and do not own any of the newer consoles (Gust doesn't produce games for the XBox 360, so that doesn't count), that hasn't been a whole lot for me to talk about, as far as the newer games are concerned.

Regarding the board themes.
I don't remember which theme I used back on Weezy board.
The one I always used on Isisview was called: Avalon, and it had a very silvery look about it that was easy on the eyes, and made it nice for writing up long walls of text, which is why I preferred it. :-3
As for the theme I use here on Zeta board, it's called: Winter Wish, which is silvery, much like Avalon, though the text doesn't have as much contrast, so it's not quite as easy to read what your writing.

Board features:
I didn't spend enough time on Weezy to remember what it offered.
For Isisview, the chat and the wiki are two major features that I fell in love with.
As for Zeta board. . . hmm. . . it's an outstanding board, but I really can't think of a specific feature that it offers.

If the boards were a character:
I can't really say much about Weezy.
For Isisview: I remember that the Silver Horn was very active for a number of years, adding the wiki to the list along with the chat, I can picture a very creative and informative individual; if they had a profession, I'd imagine it would follow along those traits.
And with Zeta: It's difficult to say, as I don't participate in the RP threads and rarely enter the sections dealing with the lore from the Ar tonelico series; but regarding a profession, the first thing that comes to mind is a coffee shop (to to the main theme. :^^;: ), so probably a waiter or waitress.

So, that is my story on attending ARM over the past number of years, it is a true privilege to have been a part of such a great community, and I look forward to continuing on into the next board when it comes time to move again. ^_^

What is your story over the years? :)
I'd love to read it, and it would also help out with the ARM-Tan project. ^_^

I joined Old ARM way back in May 2008, and was the community's 25th member.

About a year before that, I had already been a fan of the Atelier Iris games, which led me to getting into Ar tonelico as well. End of 2007, I was studying Japanese while trying to crawl through Ar tonelico 2. By about April 2008, I had completely beaten At2 and started to work on translating the Hymns' lyrics. Both my Japanese and English were terrible back then and they still are now but I wanted a place to show off my translations, and that was how I came to ARM.

Nearly 7 years have passed since, I had contributed plenty to ARM (and to the EXA_PICO fandom in general). Though I also brought about equally as much drama - I think there's been no less than 10 times I said that I would quit ARM, but then I'd always come back in just a month or so. Thankfully I've pretty much matured now (at least compared to back then) though I still have the bad habit of trying to push my own opinion on others.

Regarding questions on the three boards, I'm not sure. I've got a lot of memories with them, but I can't say I can anthropomorphize them into having personalities.

I used the default pitch black theme on Old ARM, Abandon. On isisARM, I used prosilver which was the default theme until the artonelico3 theme replaced it; considering my favorite color is #B2FFFF (teal/aquamarine/celeste/Frelia-color), I never switched away from prosilver. On ZetaARM, currently using Diamond in the Rocks - again a default theme, because changing theme is too much effort and I'm Lazy.

There are a ton more things I could say but I'm not in the mood to dive into nostalgia so.

Wow, such a topic.

Normally, I wouldn't personify the boards themselves.

Well, after writing many walls of text, and then having mercy on your immortal souls and starting over...

I guess I'd personally most be in favor of taking canon AT charas (especially significant/VIP ones from the most recent AT franchise-related release) and using them as forum mascots.

Or if we use some of the more minor characters too for variety - perhaps rotating between them based on day of the week or month, or seasons of the year, or similar. eg Sundays become "Shundays" or Saturdays might become "Skycaturdays" (awful puns...).

And new tan-charas, as kind of personifications of the history of our forums - I think that might be a bit too heavy to work with in some ways - the forums - much like the games themselves, have a different meaning to each person, I think.

Another significant theme in the AT setting is that - each person themself decides who the most important charas are to them personally, from each story. More or less, romance visual novel style with no canon pairings, but left up to each fans imagination and preferences.

I think it might be better - in some senses - perhaps to go for something a bit less intense, like say Peppens our Soupe as a mascot animal, rather than say a particular human or reyvateil character.

Or if we do make 'tan characters, to not try to make them too significant. Preferably, kinda more like very minor side characters, for instance - regular inhabitants of the AT setting that never featured in the games.

For instance, perhaps something more at the level of NPCs that we flesh out a bit? They don't even need to be Reyvateil characters either, for instance - there are plenty of really interesting 100% human characters in the AT setting, too.

I think we also want to try not to confuse people too much who aren't familiar with the Forum-Tan concept. Most people (unfamiliar with this suject) I think - would expect - I think - canon and instantly-recognizable main RT charas as mascots that are visible at a somewhat global forum level (potentially).

In general, I'd normally recommend say - the most VIP character for the most recent installation in the AT series - ie the origins from AT1-3 - or at this point, probably some main VIP chara from Ar nosurge, as a main forum mascot, with the others acting as secondary or support mascots.

Ah, anyway, I guess just some random rambling from me, in a bit of a meta sense - discussing more the general premise of the forum-tan idea, rather than posting on topic :P

But, I guess I should give a nod in the direction of being on-topic. For me, I guess the different forums represent different stages of my life and personal development - various experiences and such that I've been through - both on and off-forum, between when I started here, and now.

My original reasons for coming here were fairly innocuous. Loved the games themselves, after tracking down the music, but wouldn't normally become a forum member from just that. I think it was mainly because of the AT2 retranslation project (tools/discussions/etc for ripping and working with AT content), and after that I enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere and the personalities of people around here, so kinda stuck around since then, and also enjoying a measure of my own personal notoriety and (in)fame around these parts~

There is of course, a tonne of other history and events and such. But I'm not sure that really - those are things that we'd necessarily want to drag into the present, and symbolise as 'tans.

When and how did you first find out about, and develop an interest in the Ar tonelico series?
Hm, I've been through this story a bunch of times, so I'll go with the abridged version this time. The Atelier Iris 3 board on Gamefaqs, in September of '07, is how I first heard of Ar tonelico. After about a month of feeling "meh" about trying it, I gave in & the opening sequence was the only convincing I needed to keep going. What interested me at first was the music and what seemed like a really really epic story (you have to remember that AT1 was only the 4th RPG that I had ever played, so I was a major noob to all things RPG and easy to impress), but that took a back seat when Aurica came onto the stage.

How did you discover, and what led you to join the A Reyvateil's Melody community?
In February '08, there was a thread on Gamefaqs where people were discussing why anyone would choose Aurica over Misha. I have a transcript of that thread. Naturally, I was a regular in that thread. One day, Weezy mentioned that he had an AT forum in the works and that it was almost ready to go live. I told him to keep me informed & on Feb 14th, he let me know that it was up and running. I was member #3, behind Weezy & stupidglass. It was really slow at first, but took off in August of that year when AT2 was announced for localization. For the next 7 months after that, no other place ever felt the way that forum did. It will always be the best iteration of ARM in my eyes. It was very homely and warm. The atmosphere of the forum felt like it was an existence inside of the world of a Gust game. There's just no other way to describe it. There was something very, very special about it and I've always hated that it's gone.

Which board did you first join, and spend the most time on?
Old ARM. As for which one I've spent the most time on... on an hour per day basis, Old ARM was tops, Isis & Zeta are pretty close together.

What are the most memorable events that you can recall, from each board you were a member of?
Old ARM: There are way too many to count or list, honestly. The first fics the community spawned were posted there and everybody was extremely supportive of them. The first projects that would turn into the vibrant Silverhorn we had on Isis started there. I met some of the best people I've ever come across in this life on that forum. There was a tremendous sense of being a very tight knit group of friends.

Isis: In the beginning, the wide open atmosphere with minimal rules made it a very fun and exciting place to be no matter where on the forum one went. There were always so many things going on at any given time. Tons of wild topics were up for lively discussions. Conversations flowed freely without restrictions and evolved into all sorts of interesting topics. Some of the strong sense of being a tight knit community transferred from Old ARM, but it was largely gone after Dec '09. It never should have stopped being that way.

Zeta: Probably the most memorable thing about the current Zeta ARM is that we're still going strong after two moves and more than 7 1/2 years. The resilience of this community.

Was there a particular feature that the board had, that you either liked or hated?
Old ARM's features were pretty basic stuff, so I don't have much to say about that. Isis worked the best overall to me in terms of user friendliness. The only thing about it that was a downside was that 'confirmation of a post' message that popped up after posting. Zeta's features are a bit better than Old ARM's were and some of the posting features like the quote feature are more than a bit aggravating & clunky.

Did you have a favorite theme, if so, why and what were the most dominating colors in it?
Old ARM: I used whatever the theme was called that has been used for the "mirror" all these years. The black one with the neon green/yellow. Whatever color that is... I'm color blind, so it could be either one.

Isis: Once the AT3 theme was made default when it was added, I never changed it again. I didn't even realize that it had been changed for a while after the fact. There were a few times when I wanted to switch back to the theme that Old ARM had, but didn't, because it was best to let that rest in the past, along with the feelings of loss when the atmosphere of that place disappeared.

Zeta: I'm using the Winter Wish theme primarily because I like it more than the others available.

If the boards were a living character, how would you describe them, particularly their habits, personality traits, interests and profession?
Old ARM: Wise, caring & understanding are the traits that jump out at me the most. I see the personality type as being the type who is accepting of everyone around them & willing to help those people get back to where they want to be by offering a guiding hand. A profession could be probably anything that has to do with people in general, especially making them feel like they belong.

Isis ARM: Vibrant, flowing full of energy and pep are traits that come to mind, as do spontaneity and explosive creativeness of all kinds. Interests are a bit difficult to pin down, because there were ample expositions of both intellectual and off the wall spur of the moment times to be had. Personality wise, to use examples from a recent Atelier, a combination of Reyfer & say, Logy might be about right. As for a profession, I'm thinking something adventurous.

Zeta ARM: I honestly see this one as the one among the three who is struggling to find a unique identity.

Wow, I can't believe it took this long for a topic like this to be made. But here goes with my answers B-)

When and how did you first find out about, and develop an interest in the Ar tonelico series?
Welp, it started with Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana. I played that and really enjoyed it and started researching other games from Gust. I'm pretty sure that while looking around on Gamefaqs I found AT1 where they suggest similar games to what you're looking at. So, I looked at the release date and the game had not come out yet so I marked my calendar basically. I read up on the game and it sounded amazing. What really interested me was the whole diving aspect and the music sounded amazing as well. I went and picked up the game on release date at EB Games with the artbook, CD, etc. I'll be honest that I started playing the game and quit for some reason. Probably college. After some time I went back to it and never looked back from there. I beat the game probably like 4 times in a row :^^;: Ah, good times~ But AT2 really drew me into the series even more since it's my favorite and Luca is the greatest :-3

How did you discover, and what led you to join the A Reyvateil's Melody community?
I was on Gamefaqs in May of 2009 seeing if someone had a translation for the AT2 manga. Someone posted a link to Isis ARM and a thread where Eleinia and others were translating it. I joined Isis ARM just to thank them for doing it which I did but I went and explored the rest of the forum. It looked like a pretty fun place so I introduced myself in the intro thread and the rest is history from there.

Which board did you first join, and spend the most time on?
Isis ARM so obviously that's the one I spent the most time on  I spent a ton of time on that forum in the summer of 2009. One of the best summers ever honestly.

What are the most memorable events that you can recall, from each board you were a member of?
Isis ARM has so many moments it's not even funny  But I'll recall a few of them:
1. Conquering the playpen and the entire forum with Thunder and forming the Thunder of Arcadia army. We even recruited Deci in the army! Actually, meeting Thunder in general was a life changing thing seeing as how we're married now.
2. Forcing Infel to marry me in the Lyner/Chroah fanclub ^o) A member called Ellio used to roleplay as Infel all the time in that thread and forum in general so one day I just got the idea to mess with him and make Infel marry me. That was probably the funniest event I've ever had on the forum.
3. Messing with a member named Grun about a piece of paper and telling him I hid it somewhere on the forum. That boy probably looked in every topic imaginable trying to find the paper  I even got him to change his sig with a banner that said he was my pet.
4. The RP thread in the playpen that someone started and Thunder, wizzard, and some others participated in it. That was great.
5. The crackdown on off topic posting and random RPing. I won't go into this too much because opinions are opinions but yeah. This was a major turning point for the forum.

I don't really have good memorable moments on Zeta yet. The only real thing is the split of the fanclub section of the forum.

Was there a particular feature that the board had, that you either liked or hated?
Not really. I just really liked being able to random RP with the character avatars using the image tags. The quote system on Isis ARM was great too I gotta say. The quote system on Zeta is a little annoying honestly.

Did you have a favorite theme, if so, why and what were the most dominating colors in it?
Um, I can't remember the name of the theme but it was dominated by like an emerald color and purple.

If the boards were a living character, how would you describe them, particularly their habits, personality traits, interests and profession?
I like how Thunder described the forums. Old ARM is like the old and wise one of the group. Very caring and understanding. Isis ARM started out kind of the same for me but it was more of a crazy, young teenager partying all night long. Then as the teenager got older it turned into a major stiff unable to really let loose and have fun anymore. Zeta is just a young child trying to discover the reason for its existence right now and doing a lot of yelling. It doesn't really have an identity to me yet.

When and how did you first find out about, and develop an interest in the Ar tonelico series?

I think it was early Fall ’09. I was dealing with a persistent, personal issue and decided to go out to my local mall and browse the RPGs at the GameStop store for a change of pace. Over the years, I had developed a keen eye and personal amusement to find rare game titles, like Vanguard Bandits. I never did try the Atelier series, as I wasn’t interested, in what I thought at the time, in the heavy item creation mechanics. Anyways, I noticed in the used section the collector’s edition of AT2. The artwork caught my initial interest, as it was refreshing to see something different from the FF titles, and reading the synopsis on the back, I gave the game a whirl for $34.99. The best amount of my life.

How did you discover, and what led you to join the A Reyvateil's Melody community?

About early October in ‘09, I had completed AT2 and wanted to learn more about the series that impressed me than most games, and after a couple of Google searches, found A Reyvateil’s Melody Isis-website. I think I lurked for two or three days in seeing what the community was like, and I think it was the 9th I had joined and entered my introduction on the 88th-ish or something page.

Which board did you first join, and spend the most time on?

Isis-ARM was the first board I joined, was still the most time I had spent on it. I looked at Old ARM for research purposes, and I’m here and there on the Zeta-ARM board while I’m in grad school.

What are the most memorable events that you can recall, from each board you were a member of?

Old ARM: N/A. Was there briefly for research purposes for ARM: Game.

Isis-ARM: Joining the ARM: Game project and was the lead writer for it. Man, I had the storyboard half completed for the 40hr, Sukiden-style project before the project went onto hiatus, lol. I also was mentored on how to do structure Role Playing, which helped a lot at work and grad school, and my experimentation on novel writing fanfics. I had a blast RPing and Duel RPing with a few members. Of course, I can’t forget all the random and crazy fun times in the chat room, before certain topics diminished the freshness of the experience, which I moderated for almost 4 years.

Zeta-ARM: Well I do run my RP, but I’m not on as much as I use to be like Isis-ARM.

Was there a particular feature that the board had, that you either liked or hated?

Isis-ARM’s email notification system on updated posts on subscribed topics! I miss that ><. Also, I don’t mean to sound inconsiderate, but I also liked Isis’s PM system in general from interface to replying in a long PM thread.

Did you have a favorite theme, if so, why and what were the most dominating colors in it?

The Frelia green and purple theme from Isis. I suppose because it was nostalgic to when I played and joined ARM when AT2 was the latest game.

If the boards were a living character, how would you describe them, particularly their habits, personality traits, interests and profession?

Here are some personal thoughts, with the access I had in the staff area and in areas I had posted in:

Old ARM: When I said researched earlier, I wasn’t looking at a holistic approach, so not sure exactly. From what I heard/read, it was much a knit-tight community, but was not easy to rebound after a serious conflict.

Isis-ARM: Being ambitious with projects comes to mind first and foremost. Playful, but scarred with a sense of pain and loss from the past, but always did its best to look forward to a new and brighter future. Kind, considerate, but sometimes shy. Very creative, respectfully logical, but also young and a bit emotional. Loves humor and in-side jokes. Maybe a musical theater director doing a comedy & romance as a profession?

Zeta-ARM: Nomadic and tribal comes to mind first and foremost. More cautious to changes in the environment, but kind, considerate, and analytical to details. Creative, but more formal, with the occasional flare for humor. More mature mentality, yet quiet from time to time. Not easily disturbed. No idea what profession would match this, not enough info for me to guess.

Ah, thanks for reminding me of this! Does anybody else find it a bit annoying that in the PM system, the PM that you're responding to is at the very top of the page, yet the text box is at the very bottom of the page? It's a lot of scrolling, that better design would help ease.

When and how did you first find out about, and develop an interest in the Ar tonelico series?
That time i was in secondary school when my friend recommended me the game, cause i said i enjoy reading stories. at that time i had never really played RPGs before, so i was totally blown away with the opening. After that i was completely hooked. Even after clearing the game i had a second playthrough just to get the other ending. My friend at that time said i was nuts haha.

How did you discover, and what led you to join the A Reyvateil's Melody community?
It was after my O levels examinations, during the 6 month break i had before i entered school again. That time i started searching through the internet to check about the then upcoming Ar tonelico 2, and i saw weezy's blog and a link to the forum. At that time i lurked about for awhile before deciding to join in, and i've never regretted that.

Which board did you first join, and spend the most time on?
I was around since i think the first forum? i honestly couldn't recall all that much now. then i remember i was at the forums the whole day. just checking and replying, then checking back like 5mins later.i'd always have a tab on my browser open for the forum. I think i have spent the most time on the first one. The second one and third one came after i stopped being so active.

What are the most memorable events that you can recall, from each board you were a member of?
The first one i recall a lot of enjoyable conversations, tight bonds, and a strong heartwarming feeling. Also AIM. Half of my conversations then was on AIM.
The second one i went to it a lot less, mostly reading, less replying. There was still a lot of active people i could recall though. And everyone is friendly.
The third one i hardly come by so...honestly i don't have much memorable events here.

Was there a particular feature that the board had, that you either liked or hated?
i forgot most of the features and inconveniences, just that the first forum is mostly basic stuff, while the second one has a lot of updated and new features(i think the pom emoticons started then).

Did you have a favorite theme, if so, why and what were the most dominating colors in it?
i recall using a lot of black. i tend to just use whichever theme that is mostly black. Cause its easier to see.

If the boards were a living character, how would you describe them, particularly their habits, personality traits, interests and profession?
The first one would be a father, someone whom is strong, responsible, and has a loving and caring heart. While strict at times, does so to make you better as a person.
The second one would be a mother, someone whom gave an unconditional love to any and everyone that she sees as a child. While caring and loving, she will also spare no mercy to anyone that tries to threaten her child.
The third one would be a child, someone youthful with ambition, wanting to be someone great.

Sometimes people want to go back to what they used to be.
However time will not wait for them as it passes by bit by bit.
In the end they will stretch their hands to take back the time they lost,
Only to find the Grim Reaper's hands stretching for theirs as well.
