"Ah, right." Ergon explains that he noticed the zombies were attracted to light but and had poor vision, but they were hard-of-hearing as well. That's what allowed him to sneak into the mess hall for food...well until it either ran out or spoiled a couple days ago. With the possibility of at best more zombies outside, and at worst, beastmen, Ergon tried to study their behavior in order to kill them. Only manged to kill three so far with an portable laser cutter in hand. Though it ran out of juice and some zombie found the stockpile of them somehow blew section of the building up. He continued to explain that there's two ways to get down to the temple grounds. Either the stairs crawling with zombies, or the elevator, if you can get the power systems back on, and make sure to kill the lights when they come back on all at once. He cautioned against fighting them when they're fully exposed to lighting. |

"Night vision goggles," Rune expressed his best tool against the zombies. "Is there any night vision goggles here? Any light inside the tunnel would kill us in minutes. A miner's hat wouldn't help us here, the light would aggro the zombies." "I believe we can take the elevator. We just need to overcharge the power so the all of the bulb's filament got burned. Then, if we got any night vision goggles, we can proceed with caution. If we don't... well... we just have to shoot any light bulb and zombies we see on our way in and use the miner's hat on our way out. Any other suggestion?" He told his plans to Tepo and Egron. ----------------------- I wanted to list my items and situation again, please check whether it's right or not: 1 sniper rifle+4 cartridge minus 1 bullet for the sniper rifle. ---> 55 bullets. 1 pistol+7 bullets in the pistol. 4 C4s, 6 smoke grenades, 6 grenades, 12-N grenades, 8 mining bombs 1 energy reactor-fully charged. 10 nanite sprays (founded in infirmary) 1 heavy pistol with bullets 1 empty canteen 23/3/2130+2+1 26/3/2130-Rune arrived in the ruins 25/3/2130-Rune arrived in Talira 23/3/2130-Rune departed from Harmack 17/3/2130-surgery in recording 10/3/2130-Necromancer summoned |

"Yeah, I think I might've seen some back in the workshop," Tepo causally chimed in. Egron seemed to agree as well, knocking the issue out of the way. "If I just had a weapon, I could get to the generator room and do the overcharge." Tepo hands him his concealed pistol for emergencies much like this one. "Just don't get any blood on it," Tepo firmly placed it into the miner's hands. Egron promised and also to use COMMON now that he isn't so exhausted and await for their signal when the goggles are retrieved and in position. "Come on, let's grab those goggles," Tepo was a bit impatient to get this over with. ------------------------------------- Looks good to me to what I've calculated on my end. You just love your explosives lol *shot for adding more into the inventory during demonstration lol* |

| Rune feels quite relieved to know they do have some night vision goggles. He gave Egron a grenade and a smoke grenade before partying away. "Might come in handy when there's a group of it," he added. "Okay, let's finish our job here." He come over to Tepo and followed behind him. |

Walking back to the workshop without incident, they soon found the goggles. Making their way back to the elevator, they did have to kill a couple zombies roaming in front of it. Tepo sends a COMMON message to Egron. Egron sends one back warning Tepo and Rune to watch out for the blinding effect of the lights. Seconds later, the lighting began to grow brighter and brighter. More monstrous moans echoed from what sounded by the stairs, though no movement from the sound of it. Tepo covered his eyes and even put on the goggles to further filter the bright lighting before the bulbs finally burst into flames, killing the lights except for the minimal flames that leaked out of the wiring. The good news is that there's no source of oxygen to pose any problem for them. Another COMMON message came from Egron, saying he switched over to backup batteries and getting the elevator to open. And like so, the doors to the elevator opened, as if leading them up to heaven. Only they're going down to hell on this trip. Some music played as it took a couple minutes for them to go down several floors before they finally made it to the bottom. As the doors open, Tepo killed the lightbulb. The caverns look natural enough, with a rock pile to their left, and a bunch of zombies to their right. Tepo signals Rune to start using those grenades. It's time to rock. |

Rune followed Tepo in quiet, he thought about what should he tell Ratchet when he got back in Logoma City. What if Professor Herman had become one of these zombies? What if he BLEW Professor Herman zombie? Rune feels bad as he might have to bring a zombie, or its parts, back to Logoma City. He considered mailing Ratchet about this, but since it won't change the outcome he abandoned the idea. He gloom over his streak of unfortunate events he got from the time he got deserted. Rune has been hunted down by both sides, crashing his plane in no man's land, and now this: zombies. Seems like his guardian angel will have to work overnight to push his luck so he can safely pass through all of this. In the elevator, Rune started briefing Tepo about what to do. "Tepo, let's be more cautious from here on. The Necromancer might still be around, and if what the tape told us is true, then he might turns us into zombies. Our main objective here is to find Professor Herman and get out ASAP so I hope we won't have to deal with the necromancer. However, if we do..." As always, he paused to tease Tepo and make sure he consider the next thing he gonna said as important, "Let's just hope my bullet is faster than his mouth. It'll be best if we can capture him alive and force him to undo the curse though. IF US and HIM can do it. Tell me if you see Professor Herman zombie on the way, I don't want to blew him into pieces." He concluded the briefing by wearing his night vision goggles and took out his sniper rifle from his gauntlet. The elevator now has got into the lowest floor. He followed Tepo's signal and throw one N-grenade to the group of zombies to their right. "Egron, where is the alter located? We're counting on you to guide us there. And keep aware of your surrounding, don't want any zombies to surprise you while you're guiding us through this tour through hell on earth." |

"Roger that," Ergon replied. Tepo was all for getting their target and escaping ASAP. Though getting Ergon out would probably be the humane thing to do and let Ratchet deal with the Necromancer and his minions. This was all above his pay grade anyways. Tepo's mechagear suit produced some soft clunks, but didn't seem to set anything off, much to his and probably Rune's relief when exiting the elevator. Rune threw one N-grenade at a group of five zombies. It landed roughly in the middle of them and as it detonated, napalm shards sprayed and ensured all five were covered in the insanely hot substance. The pool of napalm had started to spread out from the ground, dissolving all five's feet. Falling to their doom, the zombies melted away into their fiery abyss. Tepo was pleased with Rune's little handiwork, taking lead in scouting for Prof. Herman. Avoiding the scorching pool of death and the shrapnel bits that missed their targets, the cavernous area started to shrink smaller and smaller into a choke point. A group of six zombies blocked their path. Tepo confirms he doesn't recognize any of them as the Professor. ------------------------------------ Grenade +2 |

| Without any hesitation, Rune throw an N-grenade to the bunch of zombies. He knew that those were humans, and killing the necromancer or forcing him to undo the curse might save them. However, Rune didn't have enough humanity to wait for them disperse and slip through them. Countless of war has made him indifferent to those he considered as enemies. He have to decide, and he decides. That's how he has been living and that's how he survived through the hell of his homeland. |

Killing the next bunch of zombies, the N-grenade may have not been the best choice as the pool of napalm is now spreading out and could very well make it dangerous to proceed further into the narrow tunnel. "Damn it, Rune, run for it," Tepo taps Rune's shoulder to get a move on before it's really a pain to wait around for the napalm to cool off. -------------------------------------------- Grenade +2 |

Rune followed behind Tepo, running through the flames as fast as he could. Nevertheless, his coat tip are still burning. He took it of and put out the flames by stepping on it continuously until the flame runs out. "Hell, these choke point are such a hassle. Ergon, how far are we from the alter?" Rune felt fear for having to go into the enemy nest. He's going to the only clue they have and that's right in where the necromancer revived. At worst case, he would have to fight him. And Rune fear fight. He always feel fear in battle. Fear keeps him sane and alive. He has learned how to control it but not never let it go. He believed that fear would keep him from danger and death. Right now, like always, all he have to do is to control his fear to sharpen his senses and prepare for the worst case possible. |

"Just go through the end of the tunnel and the alter site is right there." Ergon's IM was breaking up from going closer out of range of the repeater bandwave. Tepo and Rune are on their own at this point onward. Tepo agreed with Rune and kept moving forward when Rune finally got his coat under control. The tunnel was peaceful enough, but as soon as they reached to the end of the narrow pathway, it felt like they were in another world. The room expanded into large room. Like a crossbreed of a temple and a cathedral with a flight of sets up to the alter. Next to the alter stood the Necromancer in the bony flesh, and about 20 zombified minions scattered around the room. Good news is, they haven't detected them yet. "So, uh, since we didn't find the professor so far, call me insane to pick a fight with a necromancer," Tepo tried to be funny but was nervous himself. "If you toss some more grenades, I can set up my turrets and kill their numbers down before we rush the guy. Unless you got a better idea?" |

"I do. I will disable the necromancer before he can do anything else. Then we can do as we please with him." With that Rune took out his best weapon: his sniper rifle. This is another reason he would survive most battle, his opponent would die before reaching him. Rune carefully find a comfortable and hidden position before the rocks. He didn't get hasty for anything, his enemy won't run, he got a plenty of time. Now he's in his Standard Procedure Sniping Tactics position. He can clearly see his enemy and assess the situation. He look through his scope and search for his enemy weak point. He need the necromancer 'alive', but without the ability to recite any harmful spell. He carefully see if he has any scepter to use his spell, or he would have to shot the poor boney jaw off so he won't be able to recite anything. ------ Used STST, please describe the necromancer. edt: typo STRT, should be STST

As Rune used his scope to assess the Necromancer, more of the bony flesh is wrapped in violet cloth. Not your typical wraith-type clothing, but more like your typical mage type for sure. The Necromancer is reading through the book on the alter. Presumably the book that resurrected him. That's all the detail Rune could assess from his scope. Although if he scoped out the rest of the zombies, the professor is there by the flight of stairs. Undead, but there. -------------------------------------------- EDIT: Ah thanks, makes more sense now lol. Edited by Chaude, Nov 25 2013, 12:26 AM.

Rune didn't see any wand or scepter, so all that's left is... jaw. Rune didn't know much about magic, but he's sure that if someone can't speak then he can't do most of his spell. He carefully aim for the jaw, trying to dislocate it in one hit. Suddenly he remembered his old principle: one bullet for one. Yeah, that's how he has live his life. The last few days really brings back his old habits in war. Rune aimed to the bottom jaw of the necromancer. He won't be able to speak, that's true. But he will be able to write. Rune focused his sight for a while before finally pull the trigger of his sniper rifle. -------------------- used: >Precision Snipe: Shoot at unarmored part. Deals low piercing damage. The speeding bullet had pierced into the Necromancer's lower jaw, shattering half of its mouth into pieces from the high velocity impact, shock-wave and all. Confused as the rest of his mouth fell, bewildered, but most of all, raging, the Necromancer looked into the general direction from where the bullet had come from. Screaming with untangable shrills, all the zombies started to look at their direction. Tepo was the only one visible, as the lighting in the grand room was bright enough that night vision goggles weren't needed. Nor would they have time now to shot down every single source of light. Tepo tosses more of his encapsulated turrets, and as they hastily assembled, the red targeting lasers acquired, locked, and fired like hell. --------------------------------------------------------------------- I like the attempt, but the high speed velocity would've produced a shockwave upon impact that would've destroyed portion of the jaw. |

"Whoa, didn't expect that." Rune calmly commented the result of his shot. "So it can still control the zombie without using mouth." This time, Rune shoot at the necromancer's neck. He thought that his bullet would shatter the bone enough to decapitate the old boney. Would it die now? --------- LOL, I actually didn't care about what happened to the jaw, I just want it to be unable to say anything. |

As Tepo's turrets kept a good distance between him and the now pissed off horde of zombies, Rune's next shot indeed pierced through the Necromancer's neck and his head fell down. His body scrambled to find its head, unintentionally crawling on the floor behind the alter. The fight isn't over yet. Tepo could see the undead professor coming closer and closer. "Hey Rune, do something about the professor here, before I do!" Tepo gave electronic commands for the turrets to ignore the professor's corpse. ---------------------------------------------------- LOL, that'd be crazy good if the fight ended on two bullets. |

"Okay, run straight to the alter! And turn off the turrets!" Rune scattered three smoke grenades, all to conceal the path to the alter. He get out of his hiding and try running straight without bumping the zombies. Rune finds out that the zombies are vulnerable when they don't see lights, and smoke conceals any light. He store his sniper rifle and took out his pistol. "TAKE THE HEAD BEFORE IT DOES!" he screams as he run towards the alter. ------- I know, I just want to make this funny enough. |

Tepo thought he heard wrong, but when Rune tossed the smoke grenades, it made much more sense now. Turning his turrets off to self-protection mode, he ran straight for the alter. Never in his thought he's goal was securing a Necromancer's head. Somehow both Tepo and Rune avoided running into the zombies within the smoke and reached up the flight of stairs to the alter. Rune spots it a meter away from the bony hand's reach. -------------------------------------------------------------- I'm I the only one tempted to kick the skull like a soccer ball? lol |

"Gotcha!" Rune stops and aims his pistol on the arm. He shot twice on the arm, trying to deflect it away from the skull before actually shot the skull once-just out of pure cruelty. "I can see it! Here! Take care of the body!" He resumes running as fast as he could to the skull. ----------- I VERY MUCH DO. Thought that would be catastrophic, so maybe later. |
