Soldier Mission - Favor for Fury

The shot had pierced part of the skull, but gave enough of a nudge to move and gain momentum as it began to fall down the flight of stairs. Run, Rune, Run!

Tepo breaks more of its other arm and pins it down with his last deploy-able turret sitting on top of it with red laser ready to rip loose. For how this could've gone, it felt like it was a busting a criminal syndicate organization ringleader than a defiler of souls. Oh well.

Rune finally made his way to the skull. Panting, He grabbed the thing from the stair and continue to run until he got beside Tepo. He catch up some breath of air before shoving a grenade in one of the skull's hollow eyes and palce it at the alter table. "Heh, heh, heh, now... shall we have a little chit-chat boney? How about making those zombies of your go quiet of turn them back to human? I believe my grenade will explode faster than you can make your zombies coming here untouched by my friend's turret."

"Tepo, go take the book and try to read it. I want to know if there's a way to turn zombie professor back to human."

Rune waited for Skully's reply with a big smirk on his face and his finger on the grenade pin.

"Um, Rune. How the hell do you expect me to read that damn book?!" Tepo took a look at it and nothing made any sense.

The skull kept silent, as if thinking. Thinking really hard.

"Mas cras Ounus verbon re nock."

As soon as those words were said, the zombies slowly screamed in misery as they all started to return back to being humans.

"I have done what you asked. Release me!"

"Well, the archaeologist group can decipher it... so I thought maybe their COMMON had recorded the deciphering process so we can access it with our COMMON. Bu-" Rune's answer was cut with the Necromancer's casting it's spell.

"Whoa! You can still talk with that kind of destroyed jaw?" Rune seems to be more shocked with the fact that the skull can still talk rather than the zombies turning back into humans. "And in our language too... Man, you sure are full of surprises."

He take out his grenade carefully, finding it much harder to take it out without exploding it than shoving it inside. Rune had to put his right hand in its right eye-hole before pushing it out since the grenade's seems to be in the same size as the hole. As the grenade has been taken out, Rune took out his pistol again.

"Tepo, you can release his body. It's not like he would be able to do anything dangerous with his head off his body. I'll be watching him, you should call Professor Herman here. So, Skul-hmm how should I call you?" Rune asked to the skull while pointing his gun towards it's forehead. "Don't mind the gun, it's just to make sure the other calmer when they see you."

"Gah, hey! That's my other eye socket!" the skull whined as it suffered through Rune's extraction process.

Tepo released the body, which decided to lay there for now. Telling Rune to have fun, Tepo went to chat it up with normal people, though specifically Professor Herman.

"Why so shocked, mortal? I have a COMMON too, though probably ancient to your standards I bet. Can only do language translations, like what I'm doing right now. But if you must have a name, it's Dorma. Dorma the seeker of secrets," he hissed here and there. Rune can see there's a magical replication of the missing jaw that's allowing him to speak fluently.

"I'm Rune, a soldier. So, would you tell me the reason why you turned these archaeologist into zombies? I think you would guys would make good friends, all of you are seeking for secrets aren't you?" Rune tried to talk a way out for Dorma.

"Very well, mortal, I shall. I have been seeking an ascension ritual which required turning others into ghouls as the catalyst," A little hiss in his speech again, but been truthful as his quest hangs in Rune's hands.

Dorma's body still rests quietly on the ground.

"Befriend these whelps? You must be jesting. They are but clueless pupils if I were to train them."

Not surprising counting the fact you'll be a clueless teacher too, Rune thought to himself. "Well, it's not like I care about your business with these ex-zombies but you won't get what you want with your current plans. Say, in just 2 weeks notice, a nameless man like me has come to torn it apart. Continue with this and next the armies will come. All you'll gain at this pace is becoming an enemy of the state before getting into your so called ascension. Besides, I wonder what the army are capable of doing compared to a party of two."

"Another thing to wonder... what do you mean by 'other'? Other 'living' beings," Rune glanced over to the archaeologist, "or other corpse?" this time he glanced to Dorma's body.

"Bah, the Logoma army won't come. Not without scaring the beastmen tribes into action with their size and dogma," Dorma hissed unvaryingly. "Is it not why you came in their stead, boy? To investigate? You bested me, that is true, hence why I request another solution.

Dorma intentionally doesn't respond to the other question.

Hey, sorry again for the long delay. Hope things are going well for you lately.

"I don't know, I just arrived in this planet around a month ago. Been taking jobs here and there to feed my belly here. One of them is finding a guy you turned into zombies just before. So, I won't mind you killing a few people for your rituals but just do it in other places will ya? Join a mercenary group or The Guild or whatever allows you to kill
certain people and use them as your slave. That, is all I can offer you."

"Hmm...The Guild you say?" Dorma was intrigued.

His body slowly lifted itself up facing away from Rune, as Dorma thought he was facing towards Rune. Extending one arm out, but again, facing the wrong way.

"Is this 'Guild' fun?" Dorma inquired.

-------------------------------------------------------------
Oh yeah, lol. Guess that's grad school for ya. My replies probably won't be as frequent as before, but I'm aiming to do at least once a week for now until I get a more solid break from schooling.

"Hey! Tepo! Is the Guild fun? Someone wants to join it if it is," Rune shouted to Tepo. "Dunno what you mean by fun, but he works there and he has given me a good chunk of laugh. He would be able to show you around," He turned back his head to answer Dorma's question.

"Huh...?" Tepo wondered out of the blue.

What was Rune asking at a time like this? Looking back towards Rune and the what Tepo thought was a lich, it donned on him to what Rune was referring to...

"WHAT?!? Skelly over there wants to join the Guild!?"

Dorma remotely moved his body in what he thought was towards Tepo, but really was pointing at the wall in the opposite direction.

"What?! Do you think I'm old or something? It would serve my purposes well, according to this wel...I mean gentleman here," Dorma responds still in Rune's hands.

Tepo crosses his arms, shaking his head in disbelief.

"You sure that's a good idea, Rune? I mean he did turn everybody into zombies."

"I can assure you, the jobs I could get from the Guild would give me the legal subjects I need for my project. I can even teach magic in the dark arts, if you like," Dorma proposes.

"Well, that or he would include us in his next curse I assure you. Let's just take him back to the Guild," Rune placed Dorma's head in his skeleton hand. "Besides, he would be a good backup if the beastmen come to us on our way home."

"Bah, you're too much trouble to curse upon," Dorma fixes his head and screws it on right. Using the tip of one of his bony fingers, a faint light glows in restoring the broken bits of his jaw back together like nothing happened. "How can I focus on my research if you keep shattering my bones?"

Listening to Rune mention about being backup for any beastmen encounters, Dorma was intrigued.

"Hmm...maybe I can find some beastmen 'volunteers.' Would that be acceptable in working with this guild of yours?"

"I don't give a rat's ass about them. Logoma doesn't have a peace treaty with any of the beastmen tribes, minus pacifist refugees and inbreeds," Tepo mentions.

Looking around the room, the scientists, even the ones with once bullets in their zombie forms, are deciding to head back to work with assurance that they'll be fine. Tepo grabs Professor Herman and brings him to Rune.

"Target acquired, Rune," Tepo keeps it casual.

"Nice to meet you Professor, my name is Rune. Ratchet told me to 'locate' you. Would you be so kind to call him and explain the situation for me?" Rune went right to the point, he's too tired to have any chit-chat right now.

"Oh thank you, thank you, thank you, for your help. Let's not stand on ceremony, and we can talk more when we're back at Ratchet's place," Professor Herman offers.

The trip back was surprisingly uneventful, and Professor would talk about his work, but not what happened there until they got back to Ratched Customs.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's go ahead and wrap this up, lol. I hate to drag this on anymore than I did. Go ahead and resume back on Ratchet's thread, Ratched Customs. I've updated your Skills Profile after re-reviewing this thread. Let me know if I missed something. : )
