How I imagine Lazy using free Wi-Fi spots:

How to anime without home internet or 4G.

1. While outside, connect laptop to 7-11 free Wi-Fi and set up torrents running.
2. Disable laptop auto Standby, close the lid and put into backpack.
3. Enter store and shop around for about 20 mins, checking news on phone at the same time.
4. Return home to find torrents completed without ever looking suspicious.
That sounds like a recipe for overheating. How cool does your laptop usually run?

LOL, that's a good one!

Temia may be right, I didn't even think about that. Depends on the actual hardware.

Entered a Sofmap for the first time in my life. Oh gosh the selection. So many I want to buy, so desperately little money.

Also, ran into a Japanese guy at the R18 corner. He was surprisingly polite for someone who bought a wife-and-daughter training eroge.

Finally got network connection, even if it's slower than a third world country's ADSL, ugh.

There are way, way too many things for me to catch up now after just one week absent from the interweb, I don't even know where to begin with. Good thing it's weekend next so no class, and I've stockpiled enough food to last for days without needing to go outside.

Considering it's cold enough for me to see my breath, I don't think my laptop is in any danger. I have it set to auto Standby once torrents are done anyway.

Why is it that cold inside, though?

I wish my name was as simple as Brian though. Unfortunately it's tonal and has the stupidly difficult (for Japanese people) to pronounce [ɨə] diphthong, so half of the time I don't even realize it's me unless they call me by my full name (and even then it's still an educated guess).

Ah, I mean outside. It's amazingly warm inside buildings, even without aircon.

So I've finished visiting all the Akiba-kei shops in Niigata - Animate, Melonbooks, Lashinbang (the three share the same building though), and Toranoana. Including their R18 corners, of course.

As well as Yodobashi (which doesn't have an R18 section, lame) and Sofmap (which mostly deals with used games and anime BD/DVD, but also has an R18 section that sells new eroges), it could be said that my Niigata pilgrimage has been completed.

Unfortunately, every time I came in I'd just then leave with empty hands because too many choices, too little money.

Gonna try ordering some R18 stuffs on Amazon next.

Demon Gaze 2 was a fun game.

And just because I can, I went ahead and broke it like I did with the first game.

Back in DG1, I defeated the ultimate superboss without any of my characters taking any damage at all, not even once. Albeit it was done on normal (Warm) difficulty - I doubt I could have pulled the same trick on the higher difficulties.

But then I kind of surpassed myself this time: I defeated the ultimate superboss of DG2 (who makes DG1's superboss look like child's play) while meeting the following criteria all at once:
- Defeat the boss' strongest form. By default, the superboss is surrounded by 7 lesser bosses (each of them already challenging by themselves) and if you defeat those 7 bosses beforehand then the superboss will be greatly weakened. I ignored them and went straight for the superboss.
- Defeat the boss on highest difficulty. The game has five difficulties - Lukewarm, Warm, Hot, Boiling, and Cinders. The minimum difficulty on which you can play the extra scenario is Hot, but for the sake of extra challenge, I switched to highest difficulty for this fight.
- Defeat the boss with a level 60 party. I deliberately avoided grinding too much to barely hit 60 in time for the battle. 60 is when all characters learn their last skills, so it's a good stopping point.
- Defeat the boss without anyone dying. No damage is virtually impossible unless I grind to 9x, which takes away the level restriction challenge (and will take forever anyway). I actually came so close to having my tank die once when her HP dropped to about 300, but that's about it.

I think I did well.

I just had what is possibly the most anime-like dream ever in my life.

A girl named Dorothy and her pet dog got transfered to the world of Oz. In this world there were no wicked witches, but it was a very desolated and sad gray-colored world suffering from severe depopulation. Dorothy visited the Wizard of Oz (who was a real wizard here) and learned the magic to open a gateway between modern America and Oz. This caused a massive boost in Oz's tourism business and economy, as visitors from our world all rushed to travel to Oz, turning once-empty streets and marketplaces into everyday festivals and revitalized the deserted world. Dorothy also married an Ozian girl who looked like Watanabe You from Love Live Sunshine (don't ask me why, it's a dream) and they had 4 daughters.

Just an update on my current situation.

I've passed the JLPT exam on N1 (the hardest level) with near perfect score, and have been accepted into a computer engineering school.

Starting this April, I'll be studying 3DCG.

As someone with little to no talent in art, at first I'd planned to learn programming instead. But then I watched the New Game anime.

I'll have a mountain of new things to study from scratch, but I'll try.

Ah, so you took the N1 in the end, congratulations on passing it! It is truly a monster of a test. And good luck for your studies, obviously!
