Name: Kenny Brown Age: 23 Gender: Male Faction: Civilian Appearance: Kenny stands at 5’6” and weighs in at 150 lbs, giving him a relatively short stature. However, his weight is largely due to muscle, as he is in excellent physical condition. His complexion has a slightly olive tone, inherited from his Iranian grandfather, but it is diluted by his largely American ancestry. Despite his small stature, Kenny’s features are fairly strong. His curly dark brown hair is tangled and uneven, a side effect of Kenny cutting it himself. His skin is greasy and peppered with light signs of acne, though it is mostly hidden behind his full beard and the hair covering his forehead. He has sharp green eyes and a sharp, thick bridged nose. His lips are cracked and dry, and his teeth are riddled with plaque. He is also missing two of his upper left molars, lost in a fight long ago. His jaw is square and quite prominent, with a dimpled chin. His most striking physical trait is his four foot long, three inches thick, tail. It is covered in brown fur that matches his hair, said fur spreading a few inches on to the surrounding flesh at the tail’s base, located at the coccyx. The end loosely curls around itself. Kenny’s clothing is as poorly maintained as his own appearance: his clothes are usually caked with dirt and covered in rips and tears. Typically he wears plain shirts under a grey hoody and a pair of dark blue jeans with the knees thoroughly worn out and a hole torn in the rear for his tail to slip through. On his feet he wears a pair of Nike brand white trainers. Biography: Kenny was born into a low income household in the poorer parts of Brockton. Though his parents made ends meat, they were unambitious and content with their way of life, and so Kenny grew up with little for himself. As a child, Kenny lacked much to offer. He was always small for his age, and without any particularly outstanding intellectual or social skills, he went by in school as a favourite of bullies and something of a social outcast. Though he made a handful of friends, they too were favourites of the higher members of the school’s social hierarchy, and so he spent much of his youth victimised. Growing older, little improved for Kenny. At the age of fourteen he would become an older brother to his younger sister, Danny, but it brought much more stress than it did pride. Their flat too small for Danny to have her own room, Kenny found himself sharing his bedroom with a young child throughout his already awkward teen years. The stress of it all mounted, until it eventually pushed him too far. Growing strained beyond his limits, Kenny started spending long nights out of the house, hanging with the bad crowd. They valued his ability to squeeze into smaller places and the cops lack of familiarity with him, at least at first, and thus he joined them during their crimes of petty theft and the occasional warehouse break-in. Never the less, the delinquents proved to be no better than the bullies whom Kenny had dealt with before, and more often than not he found himself left behind when the sirens started blaring. It would be on two occasions that he would be brought home in handcuffs, and the community service was served in its entirety without a shred of remorse. Whilst his parents tried to control him at first, Kenny refused to budge, and eventually they gave up. Though his partners in crime still treated him as expendable when push came to shove, Kenny wised up to their game and developed a knack for treating them the same way. Although he was still of unremarkable academic intelligence, his street smarts developed quite successfully over his criminal career, and he became adept at letting his partners take the fall instead of him. Eventually, he found himself without any allies, a situation he preferred over being frequently betrayed. No longer able to rely on his more physically capable partners to do the heavy lifting in capers, Kenny began incorporating more physical elements into his crime sprees. Over the years, he became adept at fleeing through the alleys and fire escapes of the city, to the point that he’d become quite respectably agile. Throughout all this, however, his personal stresses kept mounting. The constant pursuit from the police, only to return home to the arguments of his parents whilst trying to avoid his little sister, coupled with the rising pressure of his failing school career, weighed down on him heavily. At the age of eighteen, he dropped out of school almost instantly and left home not long after. More than a few of the following nights were spent on the streets, which did nothing to help Kenny. However, they were still far preferable to returning home only to be screamed at or seen as a failure, and so on the streets he stayed. Eventually he would find his way to the top floor of a derelict apartment block, looking to get away from all the people in a place no-one would find it. Though it was infested with vermin and threatened to fall apart at any moment, he settled down to become the sole human resident of the flat. Throughout the next three years,, Kenny’s life would go nowhere. His brand of crimes, which became more and more an act of habit than for any real purpose, began to escalate from impersonal theft to muggings. Though he still managed to elude the police at times they managed to pursue him, his profits were almost non-existent, since he couldn’t bring anything of notable size back with him and few people with significant wealth walked the back alleys late at night. Despite realising that all of his crimes had little point, the behaviour had become far too pathological for him to break away from it. When The Riverside Incident occurred, he gave his family serious consideration for the first time in years. However, he never was able to find out if his sister had become one of those who were severely affected by the poison, as he was never able to get close enough to his home without having to confront his parents face on. In the end other concerns took over, namely the fact that he was growing a tail. What started at first as a swollen bump at the base of the spine slowly, over a period of months, grew much longer than that, whilst also sprouting fur. He had, of course, heard of the mutations that were affecting many of the residents of Brockton, but it did little to comfort him. Wracked with growing pains for weeks on end, exacerbated by the tail’s tendency to flail wildly as the nervous system developed, he could do little to think clearly about getting help for his affliction. Given his history as a career criminal, he believed that going to the military would only result in incarceration, and thus he endured alone in his derelict apartment as his mutation grew more and more visible, venturing out only in the dead of night to get food and water. Over time, as the flailing subsided, he developed a greater control of his extra limb. However, despite its benefits, it was also impossible to practically conceal. Already ostracised by his inability to trust people and his lack of social skills, the fact that he was clearly a mutant did even less to make him feel comfortable in the presence of other people. Eventually, he stopped identifying himself as human all together. With his mental state further deteriorating as the city around him followed, Kenny became almost entirely nocturnal in his activities. Unwilling to trust the Mark 21’s, uncaring of the Rebel’s goals, and terrified of the military, Kenny had to resort to roaming the city streets at night, scavenging whatever supplies he could find. Eventually his crime spree stopped including money or material possessions, instead only focusing on stealing more food and water to hoard in his home. Though Kenny is completely lost as to what his life’s point is, he isn’t stupid. Though the state of Brockton is far from ideal, he has realised that if the military were to take over and restore order, he would be captured almost immediately, being incapable of blending in with any normal society. Thus, whilst he allies with none of the city’s factions, his only desire outside of his own survival is for the city to stay exactly the way it is. Power: Through his mutation, Kenny has grown a prehensile tail. Though it is too thick for fine manipulation, Kenny is still capable of utilising it for balance, as well as wrapping it around suitable objects to support himself, though he can only support his own weight for about a minute at most, and he would be incapable of holding up other people. Whilst small objects are beyond its capabilities, were an object large enough, suitably shaped, and not too heavy, the tail could be used to lift it too. However, as an extra limb it’s as vulnerable to damage as any other part of Kenny’s body, and being behind him makes it harder to protect. It is also quite vulnerable to being grabbed or caught. The fact that it can’t be practically concealed makes Kenny incapable of blending into a normal crowd. Starting belongings: Kenny owns a Beretta 96, which he utilises in his muggings. Other than that, his rundown apartment is generally unknown to the public at large and he keeps a large stack of canned goods, bottled water, and other food items, as well as a fair amount of cash there. I'm going to ask for a bit of definition on 'large stack of supplies'. Kenny otherwise seems fine. |
