Name: Ian "Slum God" Covey Age: 28 Gender: Male Faction: Mark 21s Appearance: Ian Covey, better known as the "Slum God", is 6'2" and weighs 206 pounds. He works out regularly and thus has well toned arms, a defined stomach and distinct abs. He has blue eyes and is naturally blond, but once gaining his powers he no longer has any hair anywhere on his body. His skin is very pale, since he hardly ever goes into direct sunlight. Ian likes to let his muscles show by not wearing a shirt. In doing so, he flaunts the fact that not only is he quite good looking, but is made so seemingly invincible by his powers and his gang that he doesn't need to wear armor. For his lower half, he can generally be seen wearing very baggy cargo shorts or athletic shorts. He generally walks barefoot, but does have a pair of black basketball shoes that he'll wear if going into a situation where he needs footwear (like walking on hot asphalt). Finally, to cover up his baldness, Ian wears a plain white bandanna tied tightly on his head. Biography: The Mark 21s are a gang that have had history within the city of Brockton. They fought against and along with four other gangs over the city for years; they themselves were founded around 25 years ago by a couple of ex-members of another street gang who split off from their former family over a bitter disagreement. Over the years, members have joined and members have died. Still others have moved away from the scene entirely. All in all, it looked like they would remain just an ordinary middle-city street gang... one of hundreds. Two years ago, when the Riverside facility exploded, the Mark 21s allegedly experienced an unusually high concentration of their members becoming imbued with strange powers. While this was hardly unique among the street gangs of Brockton, one overwhelming force managed to rise to the top ranks of the gang, rallying people under his image and charisma. Backed up with a truly frightening and awe-inspiring power, this man led the Mark 21s to near-domination of the city of Brockton. With a severely weakened police force unable to stand against all the gang violence, the Mark 21s and their new leader wiped out all other gangs in Brockton with almost no effort, assimilated those who wished to join instead of die. The man who leads the fearsome gang of criminals, powered and non-powered alike, came to be called the 'Slum God'. It was a title that conveyed exactly how he thought of himself: master of the slum quarters of Brockton, and virtually invincible. Power: The Slum God has the power to manipulate electrical fields in several ways. Perhaps the most flashy and infamous application of his power is his ability to create thunderstorms. He does this by focusing on himself as a center point for the storm, generating an electrical charge so intense that a storm is created above him. The entire process takes about 30 minutes, and he must re-focus periodically to keep the storm going. Keeping a storm going is far less straining than starting one, however. Once a storm is created, the Slum God can call down lightning almost at will by further manipulating the electrical fields generated by the storm. In addition, the Slum God is completely immune to any adverse effects from electricity. In fact, receiving large electrical currents into his body 'charges' him, allowing him to arc excess electricity from his body into desired targets with alarming accuracy. Starting belongings: Slum God resides in his inner sanctum of the Hotel Raou. He owns a very large stereo system and a large collection of movies and games, as well as various personal possessions in his room. He also values his 'throne', made from a generator, easy chair and piles of junk arranged in a way that seems almost artful. He uses electricity collected from the thunderstorms he forms to power the generator, then feeds the electricity back into himself to keep himself 'charged'. |
