Name: Aerum Blaine Age: 21 Gender: Male Faction: Mark 21s Appearance: Aerum is 5'5” tall and weighs 143 pounds, making him average in height and in build. He has quite a bit of lean muscle on him thanks to the physical activity he maintains. He has messy ash blonde hair just past his ears and narrow blue-gray eyes on a diamond shaped face. His nose is small but sharp and his skin is a little pale. Despite the circumstances, Aerum maintains his appearance, keeping his hair trimmed, his teeth white and his clothes neat. He'll often wear single colored button up shirts with a pair of dress pants and leather shoes. If it's cold enough, he'll throw on a matching blazer. If it's too warm, he'll change his pants for a pair of dressy but dark shorts. Biography: Aerum was a child born to teen parents Rachel Thurston and Phillip Blaine in Rochester, New York. Unable and a little unwilling to support him, his parents were quick to place Aerum into the foster care system. He would be passed between two families before arriving at the Greynold doorstep in Brockton when he was fourteen, where Lisa and Leslie Greynold would become his parents. Before making it to the Greynold household, Aerum had been a neglected child. The first family he ended up with were willing and eager to raise a child at first, but couldn't handle the the loss of practically all their time in raising him. The attention they gave to him was minimal towards the later years of their care. As for the second family, they were in it only for the payouts and Aerum received even less attention from them. Aerum learned to look out for himself during these years. Even at such a young age, he realized that he only had himself to rely on and later came to the conclusion that he should be the only person he looks out for. He used his second foster family as they used him, sucking up to them when he had something to gain, or stealing things from them when it would go unnoticed and selling them at a local and shady pawnbroker. This was the initial beginnings of what would become Aerum's personal philosophy, that no matter what the circumstances were, any decision he makes or action he takes must benefit him in some way. Lisa and Leslie, however, were quite different from his previous two parents. They were beyond their middle aged years and already having had and raised children, they had a wealth of experience and the patience to go with it. Despite Aerum initially keeping them at an arms length, they eventually whittled his resistance down. While Aerum's attitude did not change outside of home, he was grateful to Lisa and Leslie and they became the sole two exceptions as he was willing to go out of his way for them. During his years at school, Aerum maintained a fairly high level average. He had no real direction, but the higher marks would keep his options open come his finishing of school. He did make a few friends, both inside and outside of school, but only those that could benefit him in some way, such as an intelligent study buddy or someone who was a window into an activity he wanted to do. Whether they were a good or bad person doesn't bother Aerum if they have something to offer, so he has hung around the bad crowd before. He has been involved with people in gangs and has even sold for some of them on occasion if he or the Greynolds needed the money. As a result of all this, he has tried many things from sports to hobbies with the aim of improving himself. From these experiences, Aerum developed notable hobbies in parkour and bird watching. Bird watching is an exception to his philosophy in that he sees no way it can be an asset him, but he continues it because he really enjoys it. The walks to reach a good spot are also enjoyable for him. Aerum picked up parkour after an out of school friend introduced him to it. He saw it as both a good means of exercise, a way of achieving a higher accessibility to an environment, and a good means of escape if he ever crossed a bad person. His skill in Parkour is limited to functionality as he has little skill with the fancy acrobatics many view as part of it. When the Riverside Incident occurred, Lisa and Leslie were quick to make plans to move from the area. Aerum was to join them until his ability manifested itself. After it did, Aerum planned to turn himself over to the military until rumor of what they did with people like him spread. Later, he tricked Lisa and Leslie into going through the quarantine at the border without him. He did so because he didn’t want them to come to any harm on his account, but he also did it so that they couldn’t be used against him. With them through, the only person he had to look out for was himself. Using his previous acquaintances, Aerum managed to become a member of the Mark 21s because it seemed the safer of the two established factions on the inside. To his fellow members, there isn’t much that stands out about him, seeming like an average but helpful member who can be counted on as he is keen to earn favors with others. Due to his ability, he is regarded as a good scout. In reality, Aerum has no allegiance or attachment to the gang, it’s members or it’s leader and is simply using them. He is smart enough to fear the Slum God and not openly oppose his fellow members, but he is more than willing to act against them behind the scenes if it will satisfy or help him in some way. Power: Aerum has the ability to fade to an invisible state within the shadows. This fade takes around five seconds and whilst he is cloaked, Aerum can move freely without breaking it so long as he stays out of the light. Cloaking and de-cloaking requires a conscious thought, but maintaining his invisible state does not. With the cloak active, he can still be heard or smelt as sight is the only sense of others that is affected. Exposure to direct light whilst cloaked will cause Aerum’s invisibility to break, fading back to a fully visible state over five seconds. Moonlight can reveal him just as well as sunlight can. The only problem is that it's been established that one member of the Mark 21s has the ability to sense powers. Also, unless the cloaking is voluntary, he would fade when in shadows, which generally counts as any unlit room in the hotel. So, they're going to know about his ability. Everything else seems fine. Just fix that up. Oh, and specify if the cloaking is voluntary or not. |

Removed that the gang doesn't know of his ability. Added the condition of a conscious thought to activate and deactivate his cloak. |
