Captain Umbra - The Primordial Enigma
------------------------

|~|As the lush forest loomed below, Naught's gaze shifted about the landscape. Seeing all this world bathed in light, it was surreal. For how long did all this lay beyond his reach when these Ruins were bathed in Eternal Night? Not that it mattered now, the Silence was replaced by a splendid melody, still in its overture.|~|

|~|They landed nearby the hospital from which he and Lux had departed. Dismounting the Naginata in the decayed, cobblestonestreets, Shoujax peered toward his companions. I must return Kenneth to his full state of being. I figure what better place than a hospital? His gaze filtered through all three, trying to assemble a plan which would best suit them all; whom could he leave his disciple with while he gathered the proper nutrients for him? Lux and....you, sir He pointed at Felix, still unsure as to what to call him as they'd skipped formalities. Would you mind caring for the Casius while I retrieve him the proper nourishment. I shan't be going far... The man gestured over his shoulder to the hospital, sneering sardonically. There is plenty of fatty tissue here for the boy.|~|

|~|Before he handed Kenneth over, he bowed slightly, inclining only his neck. I apologize for my rudeness, but I am Captain Umbra: Shoujax Naught. We can exchange pleasantries once I return from the Wolves' Den; and return it to us. After dueling with a magic cow, Naught was actually quite curious to how its natural predators would've adapted to it. Returning the shroud of shadows via his cloak's hood, Naught turned his back on the gathered party and entered the shattered glass door once more. |~|

Nosuke Miromoshi, The Soti

//;// As Nosuke and his party had landed, the gravity began to force a bit of pressure upon them once more. The wings of faith which Nosuke had created dissipated and broke into the air around him, becoming one with the elements and of the world. He smiled as he released the hands of Felix and Skie, ruffling the back of his head as he watched the Naught taking care of the weak Kenneth. How long had it been since he last clashed blades with Kenneth? It was too far back to remember... //;//

//;// As the Naught got up to leave, Nosuke tried to raise his hand and try to stop them, assuring himself that this was the only task assigned to him...but then he was told of Shoujax's true-self..Captain Umbra?! Shoujax was a Captain of this world...? How was this possible...well I mean, a million of paths could lead to this one, but it shocked him a bit, especially since Shoujax seemed so carefree and rebellious while the one named Ame seemed so serious and a dictator. A sigh escaped Nosuke's lips as he nodded and ruffled his hair on the back of his head, his fingers feeling the smoothness and entanglement of his dark blue hair from their mid-air flight. //;//

"As you wish Captain Shoujax"

//;// He said it in a bit of a sarcastic tone, but he actually did mean his words. He would look over Kenneth, well, at least until Shoujax got back. The air between them was still a bit tense, especially since it resulted in leaving Kenneth in the middle of a ruined hospital sitting their in a motionless state for about an hour... Nosuke pressed his palms against the ground, kneeling down as glyphs appeared under his hands and a giant circle appeared under Kenneth. Nosuke would recite a couple of non-audible words, an incantation which changed the floor beneath Kenneth, creating a soft of bedrock in which would be comforting but also allowing Nosuke to keep an eye on him. After this spell, Nosuke sat on his butt, looking at Kenneth and making sure the two subordinates didn't leave the air. A soft sigh escaped his lips as he rubbed the back of his head, his turqoise optics glimmering a soft blue, the air blowing towards them in a nice, gentle breeze. //;//

(-)There he was again, amongst the currents of air, nestled firmly was the "Shadow". Who this man that didn't claim a life's light? And now another accompained him, this world held too many uncontrolable factors. But again, his eyes fell to the Fiend, and he knew he'd continue on. The "Shadow" sped off and still we followed, still we held this "angel's" hand, hoping not to slip and free-fall to his death. The new area was laid with amazing forest life, this world, how, why? What was it, how could we have left a dune, entered a cliffside and now landed down on a forest's belly. Releasing the 'angel" and standing a few feet away from the "Shadow", his eyes closed again, but this time the lights seemed dimmer, was this the mood surrounding them? A change in scenery changed the uncertainty? No, it must be the "Shadow", he might be blanketing...oh? He speaks....Captain?! Wait, didn't Ame call herself a Captain too, so they're leaders to what? His eyes meet the Captain's, Shoujax? "Hurry back, Captain." His words meaningless because he still knew nothing except now he was tasked with watching over this half alive male. Something felt strangely connected around him, who was this and why are these feelings arising?(-)

(-)His attention turned towards the "Angel" as he wondered who this man was. Offering his hand out, "Felix" slowly began speaking, "Greetings sir, My name is "Felix", I don't think we met properly before we left. That was very impressive, something I'd only read about in old school books, how did you do that?" His eyes searched the males as he waited, still feeling the presence of the Fiend beside him. He smiled softly, remember part of his training to welcome a new allie or foe close to him.(-)

During flight, the feeling of euphoria had drowned out all else, and for once in her life, she felt she was alone. She grew quieter and quieter, a serene expression overcoming her face as they continued their journey, but with the approach of their destination, an unsettling sensation began to encompass her being. It was none other than the ruins themselves which created the effect and upon landing, the feeling of the wind and their weightlessness gone, a shudder that began at the base of her spine, crawled bone by bone until reaching her neck. She looked around, eerily quiet when compared to her normal cheeriness, exhibiting some form of anxiety and dread which was hard to pinpoint and control.

But, she was there with "Felix", and with people who had been tasked to look after her, at least for now, so she remained at a forced peace. Skie avoided all eye-contact, watching the structures around her, reaching out toward the wall of the Hospital and recoiling from it as if zapped or burned--she was truly exhibiting some strange reactions, but her quietness and strained calm she held onto were signs of her continued sanity.

Captain Umbra - The Primordial Enigma
|~|To make a long story short, Captain Umbra dove into the Wolves' Den looking to finish what they tried starting during the night. It was a much needed exercise in releasing latent, aggressive energy. Granted, he hadn't expected the predators to be so adapted to his own supernatural abilities. They were able to manipulate sound and air with proficiency that rivaled and even transcended several warriors he'd clashed with. Still, this did not stop him from impaling a few, letting blood splatter across his skin and skinning the lessers of the pack. It was not until he'd met with the Alpha Male and Female that things got interesting. His obsidian plasma trickled down their fangs and even his thin skin of airless space was not immune to the power of their harmonized howling. It would reverberate throughout the hospital and even outside. Hopefully the party below wouldn't be worried enough to split apart and come to his "rescue"|~|

|~|They'd reached a mexican stand-off once Shoujax got hold of a hostage: the heir to the Alphas; their first born. He'd be keeping his trophies and the limbs of the wounded, who were free to disembark with their Alphas. If, and only if, they departed not just the hospital, but the city as well. This was their home now and they had lost all right to it. Spread the word. He spoke sarcastically once more as he'd done with the moo-cow, planting the seeds of his group's dominance over the locals. They flooded out of the hospital in unison, out the back entrance where emergency vehicles once dropped off dying denizens. Carrying a few corpses in his arms and one on his back, Shoujax emerged through the sliding glass with a ardent fury ablaze in his gaze.|~|

|~|Once outside he thanked Nosuke with a gracious I appreciate it, Captain. The gravitonic knots lining his Naginata finally died once he let down the bodies and returned to his hand. Slitting the throat of one of the silver wolves he drained the plasma into the Casius' mouth, rejuvinating the near dead daemon.|~|

-I could feel it all in my bones, the horrendous attempt at genocide my Master had undergone. Their cries of anguish sustained me just long enough for their blood to trickle down my lips. I could taste the metal in their blood, along with a multitude of mutated platelettes. My saffron eyes popped open with an undying hunger. I rose from my back and cradeled the scruff of the wolven corpse, pressing my lips against the open wound. I gave Shoujax a thumbs up, like I was hitting a beer bong, trying to drain as much fluid as I could from the fresh meal. I was instructed that these skins would be my new attire until I could ascertain the proper materials for a suitable outfit.-

-After draining a second, I drug the first into my lap while I sat in a half lotus. My heinous claws extended two inches as I dug into its body just under the tail bone and slid it slowly to just below its throught. All the while, I kept my gaze fixated on the "Blue Bomber", as I had dubbed him in my youth. It seemed he was still untouched by time while Master and myself bent to its will. Once I finished slicing vertically up its body I let loose a gutteral growl as I spoke. Good to see you again, Nosuke. And you....... I stared into the eyes of my destined partner, my student. The invisble strings of energies that tied us together seemed to tighten around my form, lifting me to my feet and extending my pale hand toward him. Do you know why I'm here? You have been blessed by the Heart of All that Lives; have you not?-

-My heart raced though, as out of my periphreal I caught glimpse of a female; a REAL female. Not some hardened amazon warrior but a delicate flower. Master had not taught me how to deal with these vixens, in fact he stunted my sex drive for several years only to program it to kick into overdrive a few years ago. The bastard.-

Nosuke Miromoshi, The Soti

//;// While the Naught had went hunting for food, it appeared that the quiet sculptor from before began speaking to him. After he finished the construction of Kenneth's little makeshift bed, he smiled softly...a calm, comfortable smile which stayed o his face a good fraction of the time. He softly raised his hand, brushing his blue bangs away from his frontal vision and then outstretching it, shaking the one named 'Felix's hand gently but with a firm grasp. //;//

"The pleasure is all mine Felix, my name is Nosuke Miromoshi. Actually, to do that all I did was..-"

//;// He was cut off by the actions of the female, noticing her stumbling a bit and showing some signs of suffering from Nausea. He softly made a movement towards her, using his eyes to scan her body language and to see if maybe this was a serious issue or just motion sickness of some sort. His facial expression had went from calm, to a look of worry as he could hear the rustling of bushes and footsteps not far from them. With that, Nosuke raised his palm and took a stance, one being recognized from the old fighting style of 'Wing Chun'...this style of fighting didn't look to be threatening from first glance, but once engaged with a true master of it, the fatality rate is drastically increased. As he watched, a simple command left his lips that he hoped reached the ears of the two subordinates...//;//

"Stay back..."

//;// Seeing as it was just the Naught, a certain relief came over the Savior, setting his stance down and his mind at ease. He watched as the Naught carried corpses...what ugly beasts these were. Suddenly, as he looked to drain them dry into Kenneth's mouth, he reacted, forcefully feeding his hunger...the blood seeming to have a 'delightful' taste to him. The sight itself was gruesome...and the noises which came along with it...really unnecesary. Nosuke looked away shortly as suddenly, he could feel Kenneth stare at him, as if there was a bruning vengeance within him still. The savior met Kenneths eyes as he spoke in such a monstorous tone...how rude it was, even after all these years. //;//

"...."

//;// It appeared no response was made by the Savior. Wait-? Had Shoujax called Nosuke...Captain? This made Nosuke lose his train of thought for a moment as he watched Kenneth rise to his feet, etching his emotion towards Felix. He reacted by moving his position in front of Felix, not knowing whether or not he should be protective of the young sculptor... //;//

(-)Noises revolved around this unfamiliar area, but in all fairness every place he'd been to was new to him in this place. Captains, magic, angels, what other mysterious creatures nestled in these areas, what was it that Skie and Ame hadn't fully informed him on? He shook the hand of the "Angel" he now knew was named Nosuke. He exchanged the pleasantries between one another as his thoughts wandered. This place seemed to breathe, the ground had a certain "pulse" to it, his eyes closed slowly as he felt the light of both his companions, even the dim light of the injured. But now a "pulse" surrounded him, something that kept a constant harmony of life. His eyes moved slowly towards Skie, watching her closely as he wondered what thoughts coursed through her mind. He watched and studied her face, her actions, hoping she was alright before his thoughts were drug fully away from her and onto the noisy rustling before them. Great, in a terribly new place, and now something loud and destructive coming our way, what else can happen today?(-)

(-)He smirked as he felt his feelings waver again, wondering if the uneasy feeling he was experiencing was going to form into anger or not. He watched as the Captain returned, placing the creature before the injured and the scene of nourishment unfold before him. Wait, did he just refer to Nosuke as "Captain"? He stood by as new male lifted himself to his feet and address Nosuke. How did these two know one another? Seems everyone has a deeper connection with everyone else, one does feel slightly like the odd ball out. He watched the newest addition turn his attention towards himself, he hoped these were friendly eyes. The Heart of All that Lives? Who was this man, and why was Nosuke stepping between us, I needed to know what he meant...(-)

(-)Feet slowly moved closer towards the refreshed male as his eyes never released his gaze. Brushing slowly passed Nosuke, "Felix" stood a few feet infront of the male who addressed him, his ears ringing with the never-ending "pulse", and his heart slowly trying to match it. "What is the Heart of All that Lives, and who are you? I don't even know your name so how is it I would know why you're here? You can call me "Felix", now please...answer my questions...." He stood there uncertain what the answers might hold, unsure if this man took his seeking deeper knowledge as a threat or as genuine questions. Hopefully the lights will blur the fuzzyness away and the truths will finally be explained..(-)

Descent.

Slowly, she became aware of her consciousness receding into herself, a moment of clarity before her heart took a Dive. Her body slowly leaned against one of the Hospital walls, eyes downcast yet absent as the feelings of Nonagon City as it once had been, the memory without a face, took over her for a moment. It was to be, indeed, a magical and strange day in this new place--she wasn't used to all this excitement and continued over-exertions, but a strong pulse from deep within her mind told her to move on, to continue digging deeper.

She felt herself open to this world around her, memories which were fleeting and unclear, some ancient, some barely discernible from those of infants, flashed through her mind as the echoing vibrations of a once-teeming City. But through it all, insidious and subversive, the non-presence of a hollow thing was the vein of the stonework and its aura. Not as deep as the teeming life which ruled the planet and continued to claim the last remnants of the city, but most definitely not the new-coming reign of these rag-tag group of Captains, there was the empty space which Amë had spoken to her about in a distant waking dream.

The small taste of it lingered in her mind before she became aware of her surroundings slowly, knowing full well what had become of the Silence.

Skie wept.

A controlled Tempest would surely mourn this loss.

Captain Umbra - The Primordial Enigma
-I'll admit, I was slightly insulted by the Nosuke's movements. Who was he to step into our conversation, let alone act as a guard. Over twenty years had passed since our last meeting and there was already a fire burning in my soul, desperate for redemption. Still, the Master did not move in the least. It was his calmness that seemingly everlasting control over himself in these situations that acted as the catalyst for his many teachings. One in particular flowed through my very being, sending a subtle wave of haughty power through my form. As my future learner would traverse the Blue Bomber, I slyly glanced over my shoulder and whispered to Shoujax. Fear is the natural reaction to power.-

-His question resonated with my infancy. I saw it clearly, my training garbs and the tainted rose-colored lenses of youth through which I perceived the world. And, of course, Naught. Without any conscious recognition, my lips synchronized with those in my memory. The Heart of All that Lives is my ally, as it is yours. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its an energy surrounds and binds us to these once hollow husks. We are resplendant beings, not this crude matter. Like my Master, I gestured to not only my clothing by the skin encasing my soul. You must feel its force around you, as I'm sure you already have begun to do. It's here, between you and I, the trees and these rocks; everywhere! Even between the land and the stars.-

-My hand had receeded during my explanation, and though it was stained with blood I rose it to meet Felix' once more. It is a pleasure, Felix, my name is Kenneth Aleton Casius. I feel that the Great Spirit, the Heart, has crossed our paths for a purpose... I glanced once more toward Shoujax, testing the unjulating waves of his nebulous entity, before addressing Felix again. That purpose is yours to choose, Felix. I--I have come to help you grasp the elusive energies which haunt you. I am here to teach you control. I am to be your Master. I felt the urge to drop to my knees, to beg for his blessing in undergoing my tutelage; to contrast myself from Shoujax. But my legs ceased to falter, to lower myself to this pleabian; this infant. There is no coincidence in fate, but the future is ever-changing. We are at a crossroads in destiny and now our future rests upon your shoulders.-

|~|As the two youngsters conversed, Shoujax overstepped the bloody mess and gripped Nosuke's shoulder. Hey, now, don't overstep your bounds. It was a slip of the tongue, Nosuke, to call you Captain. I apologize for it has not been validated. However, please be still and listen; remember why you are here. He whispered into Nosuke's ears and gestured toward the Candy-Fiend.|~|

//;// As the Naught began to speak, Nosuke could only hear the weep which came from the female. He brushed off Shoujax's hand and took his steps towards Skie, putting his hands on her shoulder as his words were soft and comforting, well at least...that's what he tried to portray. His optics became a darker blue, revealing a worried and focused look, which showed his emotions to the current situation... was Skie really ok? //;//

"Skie..are you ok?"

(-)The Heart of All that Lives, was this the answer to these feelings I've been forsaken with? All this pent up anger and hostility finally able to light. Who'd have thought the "Shadow" could shine a light on his problem. So now there's this, all that training they forced me through, all those days locked away from the world, and now this, more training, more questions, do I have to break myself from the norm again? Will I be able to handle this without re-writting my mind again. Kenneth was this man's name, wowzers, first meeting and already being offered help. "I...appreciate the offer, these thoughts in my head have been corroding away at my mind. I feel everything, the very ground we stand upon pulses through my veins. Even you, all of you, you all connect within the pulse, but you" His gaze caught Umbra's as he continued speaking, "You don't shine and pulse with the others, why does he not fit the general mesh that has been laid before my eyes?" "Felix's" eyes caught Kenneth's gaze again as he began feeling the pulsing again, it quickened momentarily the same way a heart's did when it was excited or scared. Seems this place could do with a heart monitor, or a crash cart.(-)

(-)"Kenneth, you say you can teach me how to control this," his hands gestured over the space around his body, "But I haven't the foggiest idea as to this is, all I know is I feel like I've gained extra hands, more limbs, my senses are skyrocketing with new sensations and I'm not sure, but I'm almost positive my anger has maxed out over the last hour or so...so are you certain there's control for this? Cause if you can, I'm in..." He gave a slow bow as he felt the pulse speed up then slow rapidly. His gaze shifted towards his Candy-Companion as the look of worry came over his facial features. "Skie...are you ok? Skie...what is it?" He moved slightly over to her as he looked upon her face, the male Nosuke standing between them as he too searched for what bothered their Fiend. The offering of answers left his mind sidetracked and not completely noticing her. He felt slightly ashamed as she'd helped him several times in the last few hours. Plus here, he had no idea where Skittles could be purchased....(-)

It was hard to say if the girl heard their voices at first, but gradually, she resurfaced from the suffocating tide of sorrow and pity for the Torrent to look about her in alarm; her hand quickly came up to try and stiffle the tears, but they would just not stop. She rattled on about something or other, knowing full well that the story was a poor cover and that there was nothing she could do to erase the worry from their hearts, so, finally she conceded to telling the truth.

"I--...,"she realized in that moment that the words had not been thought by her, but were a part of some hidden gem instilled in her by the Controlled Tempest herself back when they had met up after so many years. A shudder preceded her next words, remembering the feeling of her mind being invaded so thoroughly.

"... know what happened to the late King of this place. I saw it, this place kinda... I guess, you can say it spoke to me, really. I'm really bad at explaining this, y'know. But, don't worry about me, I'm fine... though, I don't know if she will be."

Her dark maritime gaze lowered thoughtfully; having spoken aloud had freed her of the tears, but her face still remained in an expression which did not suit her, that of worry.

-I sneered at Felix when he mentioned the Master's inability to "fit the mold". I'd like to know that myself, Felix. I'll admit, I was taken aback by how frantic Felix seemed. I saw no need for it, but then again I grew up this way, with these "new" sensations as a constant. I outstretched my hands slightly, gesturing for Felix to take it down a notch. Calm yourself, Felix. To first master these skills you must first master-- I was cut off by his worrisome nature. Well, to me it seemed part of his nature. But this girl, who was she? It was like a nebulous memory, or a dusty, sullied mural. I could swear that somewhere in our past we'd--No, that was beside the point. Master, why have you brought me here? I'd just realized that I had given too much credit to "fate" and my prophetic dreams. The reason I was brought here was not necessarily to teach Felix but to be a piece, once again, in the Naught's twisted game of Life.-

|~|The Naught was torn 'twixt two extremes; as if that weren't the story of his life. The past lingered still, Pluvia's "guest" was proof enough. However, they were all here to move forward, into the future. The males fluttered over the candied girl and Shoujax was initially uninterested. He turned to face Kenneth and answer, yet all things came to a stand still once she mentioned the Silent King. He wanted to know, needed to. Yet, this was just another test of his determination. He sighed mournfully, placing his palm over his Eye and rubbed its corners as he concentrated. I need you, Kenneth, that is all. The very purpose of our relationship, not just as Master and Disciple but as two living creatures, was for this. His arms spread out in a gesture which encompassed not just Nonagon City, but the entire world. I just want you to stay here, in Nonagon City in my absence. The "youngling" is just to keep you from getting stagnant, as well as a test; to see just how much you've really learned.|~|

-That sneer pisses me off. No, it was just him. The way he dominated and owned my very existence, since I was born. But I respected him. More than I'd ever care to admit. I could only return that sneer as in my youth. However, now my saffron gaze struck with prowess and confidence; an anxious ambition. Your homecoming will be one to remember, Master. It was out of habit that I didn't even bother to ask where he was going, or gripe with feigned repulsion about being abandoned. He would return when the time was right, and it's not like I needed him anymore; the mystery of my dreams had been solved. Felix was now my main focus. We needed a place where we could be free of distractions...Free of this woman and her influence over him.-

|~|The Naught nodded toward Kenneth, anxious to see what his eyes and ears could do as an adult. But this moment, this was it. Nosuke, my friend, as one of your many duties as a Captain would be to help us explore the land. We Captains, as you saw by Pluvia's example, are legendary beings. Only we are capable enough to tame this young Planet and its native inhabitants. If you are not, then you will simply be devoured and replaced. His sardonic snicker ended abruptly, though his insidious dispostion continued on. This is a test for myself as well, Nosuke, but I must leave immediately; I cannot afford to let her get ahead of me. I'll give you to the end of tomorrow night to find a suitable proxy to watch over the City as well. Perchance even a candidate for Lieutenant of the Lux Lucis Division, which you are to be head of.|~|

-Lux Lucis? Wait, was this?! This is the Kingdom of Eternal Night, Master!? Well, I mean, it's obviously day, but... Since my infancy I had heard stories about the Realm of Eternal Night and its legendary Captains. Ignis, Lux Lucis, Pluvia as well, I knew them all not by face or title, but by word of mouth. Did this mean that I was to be the Master's Lieutenant? I had so many questions.-

|~|The youngling had hit a soft spot, and though the Naught's visage did not falter, his very being lamented once more. No, young Casius. These are the Ruins of that Kingdom. We have all come to rebuild--No. To use it as a foundation for our own..."Federation", I suppose. He turned once again to Nosuke, apologetically bowing for the interruption. Excuse my disciple, Nosuke, he was not properly raised. I am trusting you, Nosuke, something I don't do lightly. I know there is nothing to keep you here, but. Sincerity was almost unbecoming of the shadow. His arm outsretched to Nosuke's in a common gesture of respect. I hope to see you again, Lux.|~|

|~|Whether the gesture was reciprocated or not, Shoujax would direct Nosuke back to the mirror, giving small instructions on how he tapped into its raw ability, but reminding him there are various ways to do so. He'd turned to Felix, his siter's lieutenant and proxy, passing over him and focusing onto Skie. I'm sorry, sincerely, for my rudeness. Ah, she'd apparently become of sudden value to the nebulous Naught. I would like to speak to you about what you saw here today; of what these Ruins told you. His soul's internal struggle reached its climax at this moment, obvious in his reluctance to add. Someday. Someday far from now. And, Felix...I have high hopes for you. Do not disappoint me.|~|

|~|He rode off on his trusty silver steed, headed north. He would find out, first hand, just how much truth there was behind the first native's words. This would be the perfect test of his mettle. The Naught was determined to finally build his own world or die trying.|~|
