How the character gets introduced will largely be a result of the character's nature! I like to put power in the PCs' hands. In fact, unless they WANT me to, I'll let them determine the effects of the virus, to an extent.

I'm assuming that there will be different types of viruses depending on what type of magic the person controls, yes?

How about this? The genius infects several people to show what he can do, then puts his ransom to the world's governments. The RPer's would be the ones that were infected, then either captured by the genius' organization and put to work, or started a small rebellion against them.

I'm sure there could also be a few who willingly were on the side of evil and against the government. But I like the sound of that.

That is incorrect, AoG. As I said, by a long shot, the majority is unaware that magic exists. Most people won't know enough to actually use it, and even then, they may not have the talent.

Rather, perhaps each of the generals will have their own variant of the base virus which they use, though the specific effects are determined by the whims of chaos.

And Luke, I think that's a rather good idea.

So, the few infected would have to learn or work together to learn how to control their magic, right? That would make an interesting twist.

I would think though, that for every power each PC takes, they need to take a disadvantage too, because it's supposed to be a bad virus. Such as, one has the power to control electricity, but he's blind. That's just an example.

Luke, for one, the virus doesn't necessarily give them magical ability.

And also, if you read my posts, I said that already.

Sorry, I must've forgotten that.

But when I said that there could be a few that were already evil, I never said they had to have the magical ability. Also, I'm sure that it would be more realistic to have some sort of "cult" that was behind it but was lead be a genius rather than just a single person.

I wanna be a general, as usual. I like being evil. And AoG has a point about the cult thing.

When I said magic was rare, I was referring to your prior post.

Also, what's unrealistic that this power could be discovered by a single person? He doesn't need a cult. He has his own army, the nature of which I'm unsure, controled by his generals, who are truely loyal, brainwashed, or controled by him via fear.

Actually, Rarus has a point.

This is what I've been trying to say for the past few minutes. But along with Pana, I wouldn't mind being one of the generals. Also, since the board is still slightly low on members I'm sure we might have to double up. Which could be fun in itself.
