Ah yes, the confusing staple of many a sci-fi plot. Perhaps a lost and hopeless scientist or group of scientists finally uncovers the eluding secret. A group of adventurers uncovers an ancient temple to a lost culture and finds that they long had the secret, but abstained from using it for fear of disrupting the cosmic balance. The characters could all come from the time of the discovery, or come from different periods to which the time travelers travel There are several philosophies regarding time travel: That you can't change anything, the future you know exists because of your actions in the past. (the one I personally like the most because of the ironic possibilities) That you can change things and effect the future, creating a future different from the one that you know with no ill effects, regardless of paradox That even the slightest action of change could create a paradox that unravels the entire universe as we know it. (interesting, but probably not the best for our purposes) That as soon as you travel back you create a separate time line, branching off in any possible direction from the future you know, to avoid a paradox. (This one is basically identical to option number two, but with less logical holes.) |

When I think about time travel in all the shows I love, (DBZ and Heroes pop to mind first) it actually hurts my brain a little. Pardox upon paradox! |

yes, well, that's paradoxes for you. Nasty little buggers, the lot of them. |
