I would argue that Boarding School is far from a blatant rip off. Really, the only parallel is the school and the genetic mutations, but that's about it. But you're right, We do have far to much fan-fic stuff. I have always, always, abhorred fan-fics. They just seem so unoriginal, so hackneyed, like the writer lacked any creative ability except that born by rabid unthinking fandom. Gurando was my first RP ever, and I thought it might be wise to cut my teeth on a character I knew and loved. Besides, crossovers are a little better. They take elements from good stories, throw them together in a blender, and see if the outcome is edible. Always a fun pastime. Thus, you will notice that I have avoided all of the blatant f-fic plots, given the crossovers some leeway, and signed up mostly for the ones I considered original. In fact, that was what my "flood of ideas" campaign was all about, trying to get the board away from RPs that run around in world already created, and more towards RPs where we get to make the world ourselves. We see how that turned out though. |

X-Men is about a school for mutants who are made outcasts by the world. So is Boarding School. Our plot right now just concentrates more on the school part, rather than the Norm vs Gifted part. We do see how your 'flood of ideas' turned out, and I'm rather displeased with your take. If one idea received little interest, you abandoned it. Now, I'm not saying I never do that myself... *coughcoughcarecoughcoughearthcough* But still. My suggestion would be for you to go back and look at your ideas, and see how to either catch some interest, or work with what you have. |
