Dead Space RP

My recent introduction to the genre of horror in the form of Dead Space has left me intrigued, and I'm wondering what it would be like in RP form. Technically, the RP would only be Dead Space inspired, featuring a nearly identical storyline without actually being part of the Dead Space canon.

I'm also interested in seeing what an RP would be like if I ran it without taking an active role. This "DM" approach would mean that I only control the NPCs, describe the settings, and create events. This would be an exercise in setting and storyline development rather than role playing.

You wouldn't have to have played the game, or even have much more than basic prior knowledge about it. In fact, that might even be to your advantage in terms of role playing, as your characters certainly wont have any idea what's going on until it's too late.

I know AoG and Pana will probably be interested, but I'm trying to gauge interest before I get too wound up about it.

I am REALLY interested. I love anything undead and have been eager to play Dead Space. Count me in!

Haven't played Dead Space and know nothing of it. But eh, what the heck, I might be up for it. As long as I wouldn't need to know anything in particular.

You can count me in for sure. As for any simple info, I'm sure the Wiki for it would suffice.

As you already know, I'm in. As long as I get to punt a baby.

Good. I can always yell at Pana until he joins if need be.

Be aware, I will be holding these characters to Lukonian standards here. Horror is absolutely useless unless it is taken seriously, and well thought out and detailed characters are a must. Any halfassery will simply spoil it. To this end, literacy in the actual RP will have to be a fair amount above average.

Now, down to business.

The RP's will be part of a small team sent to assess and repair a communications blackout on a massive mining ship orbiting around a planet rich in minerals. The team will have to compose of the following:

Primary:

Engineering Specialist

Tech and Communication Specialist

Chief Security Officer

Auxiliary:

Medical specialist

Pilot

Security Officers

The list is of course open to suggestions. However, I would like to at least have the first three. Also a one character limit would be preferable.

I'll take tech and communications. I like technbabble, even when I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Ach! I hate you; I was going to take the Chief Security Officer! Oh well, I suppose I'll go with the engineering specialist.

I suppose I could fill the role of pilot. I'll use my most developed persona!

Wanna trade then? I have no problem with that.

No, it's fine. The engineer specialist was my second choice anyway.

Eevachu, to be perfectly honest with you, I'm not sure that you would like it very much, especially if you're not sure about it to begin with. It's bound to be a great deal more serious than you seem like you would enjoy.

Anyway, this is more than enough to get started. I'll have the template and sign up ready ASAP.

The Chief Security Officer is in charge of the other security officers and the specialists. He's basically a soldier, and his job is to make sure that the mission is carried out and to ensure that the specialists get the job done. They're mostly there on this mission because of protocol, as a mission to the Prometheus is expected to be an easy, simple, and non threatening repair run.
