"That's okay big guy! The forest around here is old, some trees had fallen, branches have broken, I'm sure you'll do perfectly fine!" The cheerful guardian replied, slapping the large man on the back gently and then turned to the others, though he then spotted the adamant huntress, arms folding as he walked closer to her to inspect her, "Ah yes you will do nicely, and you, miss Fen?" The Guardian stared her way, then chuckling, "You have been most quiet so far, please, do aid out eager companion here. Oh and don't worry about me, I do not eat!" He waved his finger at the two of them, though then jumped when the girl called Aliela spoke, "Goodness! Don't creep up on people, that's terrible! And my name is not Lazel. That would be your husband, no..? I couldn't be your husband, no, no, I'm a guardian!" Again he waved his finger, suddenly taking to watching it by nodding his head every time he moved it before suddenly shaking his head and placing his hands behind his back, "Miss Audra, you would be a darling if you could gather people some good vegetation, after all meat is not the only diet of a human body." The guardian spoke, then looking to Aliela and back at the lumbering giant of a man before turning to her again, "Considering the situation, I believe we may well need an extra hunter indeed, please do assist." He asked politely, bowing in a polite manner to her. Lazel watched the mad antics of the Guardian, almost shocked at what he was seeing. Given the typical ideal of how a guardian normally acted or were said to, this guy was a complete goof ball. He was practically verging on the edge of insanity. But he had not made any requests of Lazel yet. This was something of a disappointment, he wanted to help if he could, but he was given nothing to do, folding his arms and frowning. He hoped he would get something to do soon, but the guardian instead stood in the middle of the road, suddenly inactive, as if he had lost his existence and become a statue dressed up in a cloak. Bizarre... |

One of her eyebrows shot up, in an amused sort of way, at the words of the guardian. She decided she was going to like the man. 'Of course I'll help,' she said in a voice a little louder than before. Fen then looked from Nikira at Aliela, and smiled warmly. She was rather anxious to get to know some people better, and this was a perfect opportunity. Straightening her back, she pulled the crossbow off her shoulders and started preparing it. When she was done, she looked up again. 'So, what shall we hunt? I'm in the mood for fowl, but I haven't a clue what lives around these parts.' |

Kaidel nodded at the guardian's request, his eyes still watching the antics of the guide as he went about assigning tasks to the majority of the group. He was bewildered at how quickly the thing could move, but furthermore, how manic it was in movement, action and voice. Still, he had a task to do, so he lacked the time to go dilly-dallying while there was wood to be had. With that, he removed his fixation of the guardian and began his stride into the woods, hunting for nice, fallen wood. He hadn't need to go far in before he found himself amongst a large mass of fallen trees and other varieties of wood. Slow steps echoed in the underbrush as he tread slowly and carefully through the grave of trees, trying to find one of excellent quality. There he found one; the trunk seemed to only have fallen over recently, the roots still barely clinging to the earth in which they grew. His hand reached down to the remaining strands of life for the tree, closing his eyes and feeling it. He could tell it was nearly dead, and decided it would be merciful to uproot the rest of it to not prolong the suffering. "Rest easy, old one," he muttered softly under his breath as strong, yet gentle hands slowly pulled the remaining roots from the ground. With that, he heaved the trunk onto his shoulder and headed back towards camp with it. That's when the guardian's words rang in his mind, and he stopped about 20 feet from camp. He placed the trunk down and, with a few quick chops from his hand, cleaved the roots and excess branches from the trunk. He then made three more cleaves, splitting the trunk into three smaller trunks. "That good," he thought, nodding slightly before taking the three trunks under one arm and hauling them back to the camp. He'd carve them up from there, or let someone else to that. The guardian might be a bit displeased from the amount he brought, but he'd carry it for the next night or so if all of it wasn't used. Kaidel hated to waste the gifts of nature. |

Aliela frowned, blinking. Wait, what kind of idiot guardian was this? Of course she knew he wasn't Lazel, he was much too lively. Or, wait, was he dead? She was so confused, but she just frowned. Her eyes wandered to Lazel and quickly looked away, smiling a bit at Fen. Aliela produced a blade from inside of her clothes, seemingly from no where. Hiding weapons were a skill of hers. "Let's get hunting, shall we?" She asked, a grin beginning to find her way onto her pretty features, and she turned and began walking into the forest, slow enough for the others to follow. Aliela walked with a brisk but quiet pace. Only the slightest rustle of leaves indicated her presence. Out of her peripheral vision, there was movement. She froze, her grip on her small dagger tightening. She could throw it, if needed. Her sword was for anything large that she shouldn't handle, but she didn't need it for a simple hunt. |

On a high exception, a grin tugged at the corners of Fen's mouth too. She laid her crossbow on her shoulder and followed Aliela, while loosening one of her daggers in its sheet as well. She probably didn't need it, they were with three and usually, she could hit a target with just one bolt. She had to, of course, it was very difficult to reload a crossbow in the middle of battle. Fen noticed how Aliela froze, and did the same, glancing over at Nikira. Quietly, moving ever so slowly, she took her crossbow in both hands and laid a slender finger on the trigger. |

Audra was confused when the guardian told her to gather plants to eat. Didn't he hear her? She wasn't one to whine about such things so she simply shrugged, set her gear under a tree save for a small canvas pouch and walked into the woods. Just don't pick anything that screams "I could kill you" she thought to herself as she wracked her brain trying to remember her plants. If they had been on the tundra Audra could have easily prepared a summer salad but in this part of the world there were very few plants she knew for sure to be edible. She found a bramble which were loaded with berries, the fruit looked familiar, perhaps she'd seen it in dried form or maybe pictures. "Well I guess the only way to find out if it's good or not is to try." She plucked a berry from the thorny bramble and popped it in her mouth. It was tart, and after swallowing she waited a few minutes to see if anything happened. no facial numbness, no rashes, my throat isn't swelling shut... "I think we're good." She started picking berries and putting them into her pouch. Edited by Bippy, 15 Oct 2008, 09:17 PM.
