Svetlana She guessed her night "camoflauge" and the way it hid her worked better than she thought; no one that'd passed by her had even been aware of her presence. Thanks Dad, wherever you are... she though in a half-sarcastic tone, shoving her hands into the pockets of her sweater. Her eyes were still focus on the tall doors of the church, observing every crease and imperfection in the mahogany. "...Veuillez ne pas me détester pour ceci..." she mumbled, shoving one of the heavy doors open with her shoulder. The church was much darker inside than she expected; the candlelight decieved her eye. She could still hear the voices, but they had quieted down quite a bit. Inhaling, she took a few steady steps forward up the center aisle. |

If a ninja could be a food, what food would it be? "A cream puff. A very deadly cream puff. Maybe, the pastry, it has very sharp angles on it, and the cream that's inside is poison, the powdered sugar is actually, um, powdered swords. That's a pretty deadly food right there. I'd, I wouldn't mind being that food. Would NOT want to eat one, though." | |

Derrick hastily got into his car as the phone rang, he wanted to be ready to go anywhere, quickly. As it rang, Derrick though about what he might say, he couldn't be agressive, that would push Hartigan away. And yet he couldn't be passive, because he would be unable to get anywhere. Come on Hartigan, pick up! After a few more rings Derrick was about ready to leave a message, until the rough voice of Hartigan appeared on the other side, angry. Derrick listened to the man spout of a few cusses, then waited his turn to speak, "Hartigan, it's me, Derrick Palms. Look, I had no idea you were in confession, so i give you my most sincere apologies. But I have to ask you something." Derrick paused a second, a few years ago Derrick had looked up to Hartigan, and thats why Derrick didn't want to assume anything about the man. He was a good detective, he always got the job done, until that fatefull day so few years ago. Derrick was there at the funeral, it was one of the last times Derrick spoke to Hartigan. Derrick wondered if it was Hartigan who had killed those mobsters. Even though every single other detective would have just issued a warant for Hartigans arrest, Derrick was different. Hartigan was an old friend, Derrick wasn't going to jump to conclusions, "Look, I don't want you to think that I am accusing you of anything, but..." Again Derrick paused, "Look, maybe it would be better to ask you this face to face. Where are you Hartigan, we really need to talk, it's important." |

Hartigan leaned against a building and took a draw of his cigarette as he listed to Derrick over the phone. When the junior detective finished, Hartigan took a deep breath and a sigh, letting the smoke soothe his lungs, "Alright... Listen, meet me at the diner across from the North City Mall. Don't be late, I have some more important things to do." With that, the hard-broiled detective hung up his phone and worked his way to the meeting spot. |

...May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. By the time Delvan ended his prayer he was reciting the prayer in a normal conversational voice. When he was done he sat in the pew and looked around at the people gathered within the church all of which he had never seen before except for the detective who was frequently at the docks but Delvan didn't exactly now him, just recognized him. It was getting late he thought about trying to talk to the lady's in the back of the church but he sat and waited glancing occasionally around the room. |

Derrick gave out a long sigh of relief, the diner across from the North City Mall, he put the key in his ignition, and the undercover police car's engine roared to life. Derrick pulled the car into reverse and backed out of the parking space, he then quickly siwtched it to drive and sped off. Derrick's mind was racing, so many questions. Who had killed the Italians? How was Hartigan involved? Derrick didn't have those answers yet, he hoped that he would shortly, right now racking his brain wouldn't get him any further, he needed to calm down. Derrick reached for the radio, and turned on the news, "Just in, another string of brutal murders have occured, linked to the rapidly growing cult in Patriot City. Though the details are still being withheld, we do know that three people were murdered in their own home. We'll keep you updated here on 104.8 Patriot*Static*" Derrick switched the station. Derrick hated the news, everything was about violence and murder, he saw enough of that at work. Derrick switched the station to some classic rock, as he pulled off the freeway. **Sally's Diner** Derrick sat in one of the booths, he had just ordered a coffe from the waitress. She was cute, Derrick watched her leave, perhaps if he wasn't so busy he ask her out, but there were more important things at hand. Derrick waited paitently, he knew Hartigan to be a man of his word, he would show up soon. |

Maxwell Hartigan pulled his car into a parking spot across from Sally's Diner. The hard-broiled cop got out and locked his car, heading to the diner. The door opened with an irritating "ding-a-ling" as he entered, he even sneered at the damned bell. He told the waitress at the front of the diner that he was here with someone, a guy by the name of 'Darrick Palms'. She lead Hartigan to a table with a prim and proper detective sitting at it. Hartigan gave Derrick a pat on the back before sitting down in the seat across from his old friend, "So, you finally became a gumshoe? Congradu-fuckin'-lations. I'm just messin' with ya', pal. Now, what was it you wanted to bitch at me about?" Maxwell leaned on the table and looked his friend in the eyes, the scar over Hartigan's left eye twitching with angst. |

Altria was suddenly possessed by... something. Her eyes burned a deep crimson which made her cover her face and run outside as quietly as she could. She summoned her orb after she climbed onto the roof and unhid her wings, stretching them out gracefully. Her eyes teared and burned and when if finally stopped she examined herself. She felt stronger, more malevolent. She noticed that even her wings had gained a metallic-black sheen and her hair was jet black. A sudden burst of energy made her want to cry out proudly for her demon half. no! I won't let this happen to me! she said to herself this is you, Altria. The reason we couldn't let you stay with the Angelus Altria's rage drove her to punch a hole in the roof and claw at her orb, leaving three long, deep scratches in the crystal surface with her now claw-like nails. The energy flowing through her body made her want to fly and she jumped off the building, letting the air rush against her flesh before she flapped her wings. They made a terrible whooshing sound now instead of the usual fluttering. Her feathers weren't there anymore. It was now just a black bat-like wing holding her in the air. She loosed a screech and dove through the air through a glass window... it was the only way she could stop this madness... ((glass window of the place where Max and Derrik are 0.0)) |

Derrick looked at Hartigan seriously, it had been a very long time since he had seen his former mentor. Hartigan's face had lost a lot of the life that had been there so many years ago. Though Hartigan cracked a few jokes Derrick could see that not all was well with him. Derrick saw the scar, and new that the pain was as much internal as it was external. Derrick recieved his coffe from the waitress, and then looked at Hartigan seriously, "Look, Hartigan, I'm going to cut the crap ok," Derrick looked sternly at the man before him, time was of the essence, "I was down at South Communal Docks, and well..." Derrick paused for a second and looked out the window, for a moment he stared out at a blank scene. Cars were rushing by, people were smoking by a lamp post, and something in the distance was quickly getting larger. Derrick's eyes quickly focused on it, he couldn't tell what it was, his hand dropped down to the gun strapped to his hip. In the next instance a figure burst through the window, Derrick quickly looked down, diverting his eyes from the glass shards. There was huge crash, Derrick could hear screams coming from all around. Derrick was a bit dazed but he was trained well, he stayed low and drew his pistol, What in all the Hells was that? As the dust began to clear, Derrick attempted to locate whatever it was that had crashed through the window. As Derrick looked for the figure, he could hear the shouts of people who were injured or frightened, "Everyone STAY DOWN!" Edited by Ryudo, 27 Sep 2008, 09:40 AM.

Altria woke up to lights flashing in her eyes. It took a minute for her to realize what had happened, and a gun was pointed at her "don't move, demon" A rough voice said "demon?! I'm not a demon!" "we know your kind well." "you... do? there are other halfbreeds?" "half what? hey why am I talking to you anyways. you're a demon" "I"M NOT A DEMON!!!" she hissed The officer didn't respond. She realized that her body had returned to normal and she fluttered her wings "do demons have wings like these?" "just shut up and stay down" Altria furiously summoned her orb and it began to glow. She was concentrating a big wave of energy when the same burning came again, just like when she transformed in the first place. She stopped concentrating and relaxed. Her body reverted to its angelic form. She didn't notice the circle of police officers that had gathered around her when that was happening. "uh... something wrong?" They raised their guns "you're going to shoot an angel!?" "you're no angel" "I'm a half angel!" "sure you are. Like a demon would ever have a child with an angel" They laughed. Altria brushed a hand over her orb and when it started glowing, they opened fire. Luckily she was using her orb for protection anyways, and froze there in her bubble with her fists crossed and clenched over her chest. She was sitting on her legs with her eyes squeezed shut. The officers continued firing and she started growing weaker, but the shield held. Every bullet she had to deflect was making her energy sink lower and lower but she refused to die. Like so many times before. |

Maxwell Hartigan observed the scene, his posture relaxed but his eyes held something furious. He stood up, shards of glass tinkling out of the creases in his trench coat. Hartigan walked towards the woman on the diner floor, seeming to have some kind of hallucination. He reached to his belt and pulled his military issue Colt .45 to bear. He grasped the girl by the arm and pulled her to her feet, brushing glass off of her. He looked her over for any injuries or weapons, then spoke, "You do realize that they have a front door for a fucking reason, right?" He said, without cracking any sort of smile. He sat her down, ordered her a water and called an ambulance for her before looking to Derrick, " Chrissakes, junior... Cool your fucking jets and drink your fucking coffee. Now just sit your ass down." Hartigan sat down as well, almost like nothing had happened. |

((you said that she flew in our diner, right? There weren't any indications of other cops besides me and Derrick, am I right? And no cop would start shooting at a girl who flew the window, am I right? It just kinda breaks up the scene if cops appeared out of thin air and started shooting at you.)) |

Selyna sat on a building not far from the diner, watching the whole scene. She had watched the half-breed fly into the diner. "Smooth, real smooth." She shook her head at the girl, a half-smile playing on her lips. Apparently the girl is having problems with her identity as Selyna watched her shift from her demon form back to her angelic form when she passed out. "You will need to choose sides, little one. Before one chooses you." With that Selyna stood up and took to the skies, she would not risk showing herself to the detective with humans and an angel, even a half-angel, nearby. |

Derrick looked down at the girl who had moments ago flown through a window. He watched her appearance change slightly, what is going on here? Derrick decided to calm down a bit, he looked at his pistol, which he hadn't discharged, and put the safety back on. He then holstered the pistol, and watched Hartigan help the girl by calling an ambulance, then Hartigan went back to the booth, and sat down casually, How the Hell am I supposed to just go back to drinking my coffee? Derrick reluctantly sat back down and looked first at the girl sitting down in the midst of glass shards, then back at Hartigan. Derrick took a drink of his coffee, and almost swallowed a piece of glass, he pulled it out of his mouth, and set the drink down, I'll get another one... "Ok, so you’re not fazed by the fact that a woman just flew through the window of the diner were eating at?" Derrick paused for a moment, and looked Hartigan's stern face. "Alright, I'll take that as a no..." "Alright, back to the reason I called you. I was investigating the deaths of some Italians back at the South Communal Docks. Definitely Franchetti's, that part is obvious. Now don't think that I am accusing you, because I am not. Far from it in fact, the reason I called you here is because I know you know a lot about the Franchetti's, ever since...Look, I think that you could help me bring justice to them. You know more than I do that there is no one who deserves justice more than those scumbags. So instead of being a vigilante, you could be a hero, if you don't want to do it for me, do it for them." |

Hartigan was calm and conservative as he listened to Derrick. Typical talk for a goody-twoshoes, greenhorn detective. When Darrick started to bring family into the equation, saying "do it for them, blah blah blah," he nearly snapped. Hartigan all but flew as he stood at grabbed the young detective by the ear, holding his green gaze into the cold-as-ice gaze of Maxwell Hartigan, "Listen you righteous little shit, don't you ever... EVER... preach to me about justice! There is no justice! Justice isn't blind, she isn't some woman with a scale or a courtroom," Hartigan was yelling like a drill sergeant at this point. He pulled out his .45 and held it so Derrick could see all of it, "This, THIS is the only justice! Don't come to me with your pussyfoot bullshit! I lost my whole family to these fuckers and you expect em to be cool about it and let them be tried by a jury that is corrupt as the drug lords in this city?" He slammed his gun on the table, "I tried convicting them the 'right way', you know what happened? They walked. No charges." He threw Derrick back against his seat. "You best burn your rulebook, either burn it or wipe your ass with it. That's all it's good for. Shit." He picked up his coat and holstered his pistol, pulling out another cigarette and lighting it, "And by the way; yeah, I killed 'em. Every one of them. Have a look in Cortez Warehouse, you'll find what's left of Mikey. Now, I have some Franchetti finding to do... Oh, and Derrick, if you get the department or internal affairs on my ass for this, I'll fucking hunt you down and destroy you like I did Mikey Franchetti." With that he stormed out of the diner, tossing his tab to the waitress. |

Derrick sat there for a moment, and soaked it all in. He watched as the detective stormed out of the diner, that went about as well as I expected it too... Derrick brushed his jacket off, and fixed his collar. He never liked being yelled at, and he really didn't like being underestimated. Derrick was one of the most talented and decorated patrolmen in Patriot City history, on top of that he was the youngest person to ever pass the Patriot City detectives exam. Yet it seemed that every single person, be they another detective, or someone higher up on the police ladder, treated Derrick like he was still a kid. I've had enough of this; it's time I proved who I am, not for them but for myself. Cortez Warehouse... Derrick walked up to the waitress, paid his part of the bill, and thanked her for the great service. He also apologized for the actions of the rude detective. Derrick then looked at the girl who had crashed through the window. She was still sitting alone, the paramedics hadn't arrived yet, Derrick walked over to her. "Now Miss, I don't know what happened, and I would love to stay here and take a full statement, but I have to go. Now if you ever need help, or get into any trouble, here's my card," Derrick handed her his card, on it was his phone number, rank, and picture of the detective. "Now I have to go, but don't hesitate to call me alright." And with that Derrick walked out of the diner, he could here the siren of the paramedics approaching, he got into his car and drove off. **Cortez Warehouse** Derrick walked slowly into the decrepit old warehouse; he had his camera kit in one hand, and a flash light in the other. Derrick covered his nose with his shoulder; the stench of burnt flesh was putrid. He looked around at the boarded up windows, chained exits, and burned out lights, Cheery... In the middle of the room was a table and a burnt chair. Derrick walked over to the chair, upon further examination Derrick realized that the chair held the remains of a person. Derrick took out his camera, and snapped a few photos; he then turned to the table next to the chair. On it was everyday items covered in blood, Derrick snapped another photo, the blood was fresh. Derrick shined his flashlight around the empty warehouse once again; the flashlight caused the objects in the room to cast eerie shadows. Derrick snapped a few more photos, and then began to leave the building, Dammit Hartigan. |

Altria's body was functioning but her mind was somewhere else. When she finally freed herself of her haze, she picked up a business card and heard a siren. crap! gotta get out of here! if the doctors discover I'm half demon they'll euthenaise me or worse she thought, scanning the room with her purple eyes. She couldn't even sense her orb. She slipped out of the diner and shook her wings out. There were some small glass shards in them, but she had to get out of here. She backtracked her steps and finally found her orb which she happily floated along beside her. She heard a group of people talking about something in a dark alley. She couldn't help listening. One of them was making a speech. She quickly flew past, but felt a flickering eye following her movements. "what the hell? an angel?" one said The rest of them smirked and started driving after her on a motorcycle, and eventually cornered her. "what do you want!?" "go back to where you came from, angel. you're not welcome in out land" "this isn't your land!" a few of them whispered to each other, and the leader spoke again "alright, you have two choices. we don't usually do this but since you are here you must have been exiled by the angels, which makes us have the same enemy. You can join us, or we can torture you to death right now" Altria froze. she didn't want to join forces with anyone, but there were way too many of them for her to take at once the leader whispered to his group again and they all snickered "time's up. I guess we have to go with the third choice" The pack advanced on her, and one of them shot above her, grabbing her orb. Another one slammed her against the brick wall, and a definite snap came from her wing as a burning pain shot through it. One of them made vines crawl down her arms and legs, holding her in place, though she struggled. "should've joined us, babe" He put his big scarred face about two inches away from hers and slowly tore her sleeve off. The vines were creeping up her throat and down to her waist, and she struggled and tried to bite the leader, but she couldn't move. Edited by Lumina, 29 Sep 2008, 12:19 AM.

Selyna sighed, "Dammit! Fine!' She turned herself around and flew back in th direction of the diner. She may have been a demon but she wasn't about to leave a half-demon alone with no means of protecting herself. It wasn't long before she spotted the girl in the midst of people who were toying with her. Landing quietly behind them she adjusted herself and pushed her hair back. "Hello." One of the men turned around and saw here, "What the fuck?" Unfortunately for him that was all he had time to get out. She used her energy and threw him to the side, walking toward the group. One by one they were thrown aside until she was standing in front of Altria. "You know, for a half-demon you should be able to protect yourself better." With that she tore off the vines, picked up the girl and took to the sky. She flew until they came to a cathedral and she set the girl down. "I only helped you because you are one of my kind, albeit only a half. I'll give you one word of advice: Choose or the choice will be made for you." |

when Delvan was moving to the dinner he saw a girl run out and start to fly. He was awestruck, he began to follow her but lost her as she dipped below the buildings. He ran in that direction and ignored the ambulance that was coming down the street. He slowed his pace to a jog as he lost hope of ever seeing the flying girl again when he saw someone flying carrying some, the girl he guess. He followed them and quickly fell behind. When he lost sight of them he still followed. Some how he was drawn to them. He couldn't stop so he kept running running back towards the Cathedral were he had just come from. |

Selyna looked the girl over and leaned against a column. "So, half-breed, you got a name?" She looked out over the city while waiting for a reply and caught site of someone running toward the cathedral. "Looks like someone is in urgent need of a confession or..." She smacked her head, "I wasn't careful was I?" She looked back at Altria, "Looks like we're gonna get some company. You have any where to go?" |

"apparently I'm not the only dumbass here, am I?" Altria summoned her orb and when she caught it, wrapped her arms around it as it floated next to Selyna. She may have had a broken wing, but that didn't mean she couldn't fly "and don't call me a halfbreed, I have a name and it's Altria. I don't choose sides. I have no reason to since I don't want this damn war in the first place" |

"War...?" Svetlana slithered from the shadows behind the column. She eyed the seductress, quirking a brow. "Ah, you again...I thought I heard you wandering about." Her attention then turned to the half-breed, and she squinted her eyes. She took a step back into the darkness digging her hands deeper into her pockets and hunching her shoulders forward. "You caused quite a stir, you know. You should try to have more self-control." |

"self control? like YOU should be the one to lecture ME on self control." with a quick swirl of her orb, her damaged wing repaired itself and she stretched her wings. It was still sore but she wanted to get out of here. Dropping her orb so it floated beside her, she jumped into the sky and dove in the direction of... she wasn't sure what, exactly she was looking for, but her less-dominant demon half did. It wanted blood and gore, and though she tried to stop herself, even the angel side was a little intriuged. |
