**Patriot City Police Department: Lieutenants Office** Derrick watched as the man before him began to turn red with anger, "What do you mean you don't have a suspect yet! I put you on this case, even though I knew you weren't qualified, and this is how you repay me...Shit, Derrick. That's what you put me in, some deepshit." The lieutenant walked around his office a bit, Derrick stared at his hands, "So, what do I do in a situation like this, hotshot?" Derrick knew the question was rhetorical, he knew that the asshole in front of him would wait for a few seconds, and let the question ruminate, before he continued on his tirade. In the past Derrick would have let the procedure go on as intended, but not today. If Derrick wanted to move up in the ladder, he would have to assert himself, he saw the luitenant begin to open his mouth again, here goes nothing, "You let me go about my business, you let me find a suspect, put him behind bars, and then finish this case. You know as well as I do that out there," Derrick pointed out to the detective's lounge, "not a single one of those cowards would take a case half as dangerous as this one. And we all know that none of them would catch the right guy. So in a situation like this, I say you leave it to the only guy brave enough in this dump to actually get the job done, the guy you already put on the case." Derrick watched as the Lieutenant stood there, dumbfounded. Derrick stood up, and smiled at the Lieutenant, "Thank you very much for your understanding, Sir." And with that Derrick walked out of the room. He looked down at the Detective's lounge, and saw them all looking at him, he casually waved to them as he left the building. Derrick walked out to his car, opened it, sat down, he needed to think. Alright, something strange is going on. Whether or not Hartigan is in the middle of this is irrelevant at the point. What matter is, finding out who or what was behind the enormous mob presence down at the Docks. Perhaps something bigger than some Italian mobsters is at work here... Derrick turned on the radio, and listened to the news. Even though he hated the news, Derrick needed a lead. Any lead, and so he waited. |

Delvan continued to jog down the street back towards the church. He pushed through heavy crowds of people. They yelled out profane thing to him. Delvan didn't falter he kept his pace and nearly got ran over while crossing a street. He could now see the church he was drawn to he couldn't stop he just couldn't. He waited as cars crossed between him and his destination. He couldn't take his eyes off the church. When there was a break in the stream of cars he sprinted across to the Cathedral. Now he stood at the door hie hands were shaking in anticipation, a flying girl could be just inside. He grabbed the door handle and slowly opened it and looked inside. |

She looked at Svetlana, "I'm that loud huh?" She watched Atlria fly away, "She needs to contro her powers, we can't have a being around who is unstable." Overlooking the edge, she scanned the ground but did not see the human who had followed her. "Unfortunately I was not careful and a human tracked me here." She looked back over to Svetlana, "So what do you think? Stay and have fun or leave?" |

Delvan could see two ladies inside talking to each other. He waited at the door way not knowing what to do. He thought to himself, What do I say, I saw a flying girl come this way would it by any chance be one of you? He couldn't say that they would think he was mad. He walked up to them, "Uhm hi, I've never seen you here before are you new to the church?" He stuck out his hand for them to shake. He tried to put on a half smile, it ended in more of a I wish I wasn't hear look. |

Selyna glanced over the human as he spoke. She took in his blonde hair and brown eyes and smiled. Warm hair, cold eyes. She walked over to him, her hips swaying to either side as she approached him, "Yes, we are new. It is beautiful, is it not." She shook his hand and then placed both on her hips, gazing into his eyes. "And what brings you here?" |

Mare had seen the girl fly away and found it strange, what was stranger still was the fact that it hadn’t been a vision that was alcohol induced. He wanted to believe it was his sign, his proof of Christ’s existence, love and all of that bull shit. He knew better. Something had been going on in Patriot city for awhile now. Something far stranger than anyone was willing to admit. His plan had been to leave the church and see if he could unload some of the cocaine still sitting in his trunk. That was before some guy had come running across the street, out of breath, nearly killing his self to get into that house of God and before he had seen a girl sprout wings and soar through the air like something out of an acid trip. He took the few steps forward, away from the church fighting the urge to return. Then he thought better of it, turned around and headed through the doors back into the Cathedral. “Alright,” he yelled unceremoniously “Which of you broads is the chick with wings and what the hell does God expect of me?” |

Altria fought her demon half down and managed to dive into the church door before she landed gracefully. Being here always brought out her angelic side in the past and she refused to let her demon side take over. "Alright, Which of you broads is the chick with wings and what the hell does God expect of me?” someone behind her shouted Altria looked behind herself and realized she hadn't hidden her wings this time. oh crap. I'm so dead. she thought. She folded her wings and casually sat down in one of the pews as if nothing was weird here. |

Peering at Selyna with dark eyes, Svetlana leaned out of the shadow, resting against the column. "Fun?" Her eyes squinted as she tried to concentrate, but the non-audible voice of the approaching blonde male clouded her ears. After observing the way Selyna strutted towards him, she rolled her eyes, understanding what the seductress had meant. She took a step towards them, the dim light gittering off her black eyes and reflecting off her sleek black hair. She opened her mouth to speak, but just as she did, another voice crowded her thoughts -- she spun around and fixated her eyes on another male human which had entered the church. “Alright,” he yelled unceremoniously “Which of you broads is the chick with wings and what the hell does God expect of me?” "I can very well say I'm not closely acquainted to that God of yours, but If It expects something of you, It will tell you Itself," she spoke loudly, her voice resonating chillingly through the cathedral. Svetlana spoke nothing of wings, though; it seemed to have been years since she had even seen her own. She did take a quick glance to where Altria was seated, her brow furrowing, but then focused back on the loud man. Edited by killersheepie, 1 Oct 2008, 11:59 PM.

If a ninja could be a food, what food would it be? "A cream puff. A very deadly cream puff. Maybe, the pastry, it has very sharp angles on it, and the cream that's inside is poison, the powdered sugar is actually, um, powdered swords. That's a pretty deadly food right there. I'd, I wouldn't mind being that food. Would NOT want to eat one, though." | |

Delvan gave her a whole heartened smile as he felt he soft smooth hands. "Yes it's- quite spectacular." He looked up at the stain glass windows and the tile mosaics. Then he met her gaze as the hand shake ceased. "By the by name's Delvan, and to whom do I owe this pleasure to?" He couldn't help but stare in to her deep dark eyes; the eyes deeper than the very pits of hell but softer the clouds in the sky. "And what brings you here?"The question caught him of guard. "Uhm.. well I was passing by when I-I...this might sound crazy but I saw a flying lady land here." He took in the lady's dark flowing hair and her fair skin. Edited by Guardian, 2 Oct 2008, 12:46 AM.

at the word flying, Altria flinched and sunk lower into her seat. She couldn't help but laugh that this girl, or demon, or whatever she was was obviously trying to seduce the man and the man had no idea. She covered her mouth and sunk lower in her seat. It was obvious that she was the only one with wings here, but that still didn't stop her from pretending she wasn't |

She tilted her head, "Delvan, that means 'good friend'. Am I correct?" Sinking down into a pew, her eyes never leaving his, she patted at the seat next to hers. "Sit a while and maybe you will learn my name." This is too easy. Is he this easy to catch? She ignored the second man that had burst in, for as of now he meant nothing to her. Nothing until he ruined her game, that is. |

Mare gave a quick glance in the direction of the girl that had voiced a reply. “No. Hey, let’s get this straight. Okay? He ain’t my God. I just want to know what he can do for me, alright? What I’m looking for is to cut a deal with someone. I need a divine favor and I’m willing to bargain. But first I need to know which of you ladies in here is the one with the wings. Or better yet, which of you can best help a handsome guy like myself.” He had begun speaking to the whole room as opposed to the one single girl who had spoken to him. He knew one of them, at the very least was something more than a human like his self. |

Altria glanced around nervously and sunk lower in her seat, contemplating the best way out. She couldn't hide her wings for longer than a few minutes, no angel could. She formulated a plan and her cheeks turned a little red in anticipation. |

"I guess you could say that." Delvan really liking this lady, they looked about the same age, she was very pretty, and there was just something about her that made him want to know more. As he sat down next to her he casually broke eye contract, to slide into the pew and look at everyone else. He turned his body slightly towards her so he didn't have to strain his neck as he talked. "ok so how do I learn you name" he said in an intrigued voice. |

She slid closer to Delvan to where their legs were almost touching and dipped her head some, giving he an almost innocent look. "Well, you take me to get a drink. That would be a good start." She chanced a glance over to the man standing in the aisle and gave him a once over. Deciding that she didn't need to concern herself she looked back at Delvan. "So, whaddya say. Want to get out of here?" She asked as she winked at him. |

She blinked a few times, trying to think of something more to say. "And about the winged one...she's here, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't want us knowing so." Svetlana pursed her lips at the end of the sentence, clearly hearing Altria's thoughts echoing through her ears. "So, whaddya say. Want to get out of here?" Abruptly returning her attention back to Selyna and her prey, Svetlana pulled her hands out of her pockets and crossed her arms tightly across her chest. She still hung around the darkened shadow of the column she'd appeared from behind. "Don't think you're lucky, boy. Her intentions aren't particularly similar to yours. I suggest you run while you still can. But s'just a suggestion." She turned back to Mare, nodding towards him slightly. "...So now...what's this bargain you're after?" |

"What kind of favor? Perhaps God isn't what you're really looking for." As Svetlana spoke the words Mare turned to face her. She had his attention. He had hoped someone would say something along those lines. Conversion to cross worshipping hadn’t been something he was looking forward to unless it was his only option. If the winged mystery girl wanted to keep a low profile it was fine with him. She had served her purpose. He was there in church. Now someone was paying attention to him and this someone seemed to know a thing or two that would be of benefit to him. "...So now...what's this bargain you're after?" “I need protection and if that protection of myself happens to cause some people to wind up dead, then so be it. I won’t complain, so long as my life can go back to normal and those freaks that killed my buddy can go to hell… or wherever cultists end up.” He paused for a second to take a careful look at Svetlana. He made no disguise of his actions, his eyes scanned her from head to toe and he took a moment to picture her alone, with him, in one of the church confessionals giving in to one of the seven deadly sins, before speaking again. “You gonna be the one to help me out? You aren’t really my idea of a bodyguard, a few others things maybe… but not the person to help me with my problem. Are you mobbed up or do you just have connections with someone?” |

"Oh so she's not trying to meet some one new and make a friend? Then what is she doing" Svetlana smirked at this retort, feeling pity for the man. "I, unlike you, can...how should I put it...read people on a far greater scale than most can. You're better off getting a drink on your lonesome." She refocused on Mare as he replied to her question. “I need protection and if that protection of myself happens to cause some people to wind up dead, then so be it. I won’t complain, so long as my life can go back to normal and those freaks that killed my buddy can go to hell… or wherever cultists end up.” She peered at Mare curiously as he peered back, when suddenly, her face washed over with a wave of minor disgust as she saw the image in his head appear behind her own eyes. She snorted, stepping back into the shadows behind the column. “You gonna be the one to help me out? You aren’t really my idea of a bodyguard, a few others things maybe… but not the person to help me with my problem. Are you mobbed up or do you just have connections with someone?” "Mobbed...up?" She hadn't heard such terminology used before, and it baffled her. "Ich verstehe nicht, was Sie bedeuten," she sighed, raising her hand to rub her forehead, then spoke understandably. "Well, if it's a bodyguard you're looking for, I can assure you that I'm fully capable. What you need to assure me is that you're actually worth guarding." |

Altria heard the mind reader's thoughts as clearly as her own since her mind was undefended. She didn't want to take advantage of the weakness. She was above that even if this girl wasn't. "wings" she snorted, putting a hand on her glowing orb, her wings shrunk back into her flesh and she casually walked out. |

He looked at this lady who was now speaking to him. "Oh so she's not trying to meet some one new and make a friend? Then what is she doing" He gave a somewhat stern glace at this lady as he waited for her to reply She gave her most innocent smile at Delvan but was silently cursing Svetlana. "Bitch," she thought. "It's been so long since I've had a toy." She leaned back, looking up at him, rethinking her plan. "It's always nice to meet someone new. Unfortunately my friend here is correct." She had just sabotoged herself and she knew it, but she also knew that it would have happened sooner or later once Svetlana spoke up. Seeing a movement out of the corner of her eye, she focused on it and saw Altria casually walk out. "Well, she seems to have control of herself now. How interesting..." she thought to herself. With one last smile at Delvan she stood up and placed both hands on her hips. Giving him a thorough once over she tsked, "Too bad." With that she turned her back to him and walked into the darker part of the church, fully intent on leaving and following Altria. Or maybe looking for another toy. |

Mare failed to notice Svetlana’s momentary display of disgust, but just the same he was doing his best to regain focus and push any remaining lustful thoughts from his mind. He mentally reminded himself that paying attention to what Svetlana had to say was more important than paying attention to other things about her. "Mobbed...up? Ich verstehe nicht, was Sie bedeuten," "Sure, yeah whatever that means…" he mumbled under his breath before yawning audibly while she continued. "Well, if it's a bodyguard you're looking for, I can assure you that I'm fully capable. What you need to assure me is that you're actually worth guarding." He took a minute to contemplate her words before speaking again. "Maybe bodyguard was… hmm a wrong choice of words. You see, I’ve got to be honest with you… what did you say your name was? I’m Mare by the way." He didn’t wait for a reply before continuing. "What I really want is some people, some weird and Satanic kill a guy’s friend and try to do him in too kind of people, to be dead. I want them to die, if it’s deemed appropriate, painful deaths. I was thinking maybe if I converted… well no that’s not right because to convert I would have to already be religious. I… well I was thinking if I became a follower of God or whatever, he would look out for me, you know? Like if they come after me again he would… this sounds stupid but I think it happens in the bible… he would strike them down and save me…" he realized that sounded like complete foolishness when spoken aloud but the truth was he wanted his life back. "So then what his your intent? I mean I don't even know your name." Delvan’s voice pulled Mare away from his conversation momentarily. He couldn’t help but give a quick laugh. The kid obviously had a crush and Mare almost felt sympathetic. "Somebody is not getting to spend any quality, alone time with her tonight." He said before turning back to Svetlana. "You see I just want to be able to work again without worrying about some group of freaks chasing me around saying they need to spill my impure blood." A grin formed across his features as he finished speaking his piece. A part of him was still hoping for that magical answer, his epiphany, and he was wondering if she had it. His conversation with Hartigan had been a failed attempt at finding spiritual guidance; but then again maybe this girl was right. Maybe it wasn’t God he was after. He really did hope it wasn’t. He had better things to do with is Sundays than spend them in prayer. |

"So then what his your intent? I mean I don't even know your name." She paused and watch him run after, maybe she would get that new toy after all. "Selyna." Though now that her attention had shifted, she wasn't sure if she wanted him to tag along. But maybe she could still have her fun. Altria took the moment of Selyna's distraction to swipe a hand over her orb, making her invisible in the night. The spell would work as long as she kept in the shadows and even if she did step into the light for a few moments she could hold it. She stretched her wings out and soundlessly took off, completely invisible and untraceable. For some strange reason she wanted to kill Selyna. Not because she was a demon... though that could have been part of it, but because she understood what Delvan was talking about. |
