The air was humid, muggy, and hot. The sun was in the middle of the sky, lazily burning the day away. A few birds of prey circled in the air, and there was almost no one to be seen on the deserted road that one John Higgins was riding on. He road a beautiful horse named "Mercy", of which John had little of. Mercy was casually walking down the road, while John read a sheet of paper. It was a wanted poster, John didn't go to school as a kid, but he wasn't stupid. He had learned to read by using common sense and forced repetition, eventually it became easier, though he did struggle with some of the larger words. It didn't matter to John though, he always got the main idea of what he was reading.

Wanted!

John Higins, a.k.a. Blackheart

Wanted for multiple counts of:
Robbery
Highway robbery
Train Robbery
Assault and Battery
Murder
and Countless other crimes

This man is heavily armed
and considered extremly dangerous

Reward: 10,000 Dollars
Posted by the Sheriff of Dangsly

"Wait a minute, they spelled my name wrong... and only ten thousand dollars, this must be some kind of joke. Dangsly eh, perhaps the good sheriff will be gettin' a visit soon."

With that John pulled tightly on the reigns of Mercy, and he road quickly to the town where his warrant had been posted.

The Morning and the Evening Sun
It was hot. Very hot. The small school-house had been sweltering, and opening the doors and windows hadn't helped much. The poor students had been miserable, and even Laura had had a hard time concentrating on all the lessons. She had been just as happy as the students for school to end for the day.

As the children started the long walks to their homes, Laura headed to her own house. It was small; a living room, a kitchen, a bedroom, and a spare room that she used for her library and office area. There were a few trees shading it, and a swing. It had been picturesque when she first saw it, but now she was understanding just how hard it was out here.

Being alone out in the middle of nowhere had seemed somewhat romantic at first, but terrible storms had soon changed that. She had learned to take care of herself though, and the townspeople had been very kind to her. Even her Uncle Freddy, whom she hadn't seen in years, had been supportive, bringing her suplies, food, and other necessities.

Laura sighed as she opened the door to the screen porch, and she left the front door open behind her. There wouldn't be any visitors today, it was too hot. She put her things away and sat down on a little sofa in the living room. "You know what would be nice, Laura?" she said to herself. "A cool sponge bath, that's what!"

She got up. "Yes, that's just the ticket!" She went to her bedroom to see if she could find a wash-cloth. "Wait a second... I'm out of soap!" Laura began rumaging through the drawers or her dresser and vanity. The search yielded no results. She sighed and looked at the clock hanging on her wall.

If she started walking now she could make it to the town and get some. Another thought came to her. "I could bring the letter for Mother and mail it!" But the heat... Oh well. Laura got her things together. She went outside to her little stable and hitched her little wagon to her mare, Crumbs. Soon Laura was on her way.

Goldie stepped to the signed paper of Blackheart. She tore it off, "Hey! I could get me some money from this guy!" she joked, and the way she talked made it sound like; 'Hey! Iye cood get meeee some moneeey from dis gie!!'. She laughed, srunched up the paper and threw it on the ground.

John watched as Goldie grabbed the paper from him and threw it to the ground, she laughed,

Hey! I could get me some money from this guy!"

John stared at her for a moment, his eyes were fixed on hers, he didn't flinch, didn't move. It was a look John was famous for, the Death Stare, John could hold the look all day. Not many people had ever scene the face, and those who did didn't live to tell the tale. That was true for everyone but Goldie, he tried as hard as he could to hold the face, but like always he gave in, and a very rare smile broke across his face,

"Now you ain't thinkin' about turnin' me in are you? Cause ya know I couldn't spend a life in jail... and ya know I couldn't spend a day without you." He grinned at her,

"So what do you say we pay this good 'ol sheriff a visit, and thank him, for doin' his duty." He looked at her, and gave her a wink.

"Get on your horse, we'll ride there, it'll take a few minutes or so, and they have a field for horses," Dante smirked as he climbed over Piston, the horse neighed loudly, it was as if the horse was giving out a battle cry, "So, let the wind run."

Piston galloped straight in the direction of Darkbrew, Dante let his hands fly as the tasty shock of wind flew in every direction as Piston dashed. The hot sun was slightly going down from the tall endless sky. He was sure that Quicksilver was going to follow, soon enough.

The magnificent horse neighed as it dashed forward, Dante smirked and shouted over the roaring wind, "Let's say two minutes until we get there!"

"aaww your soooo sweet, I couldn't never turn you in!" Goldie put her arms around him. She sometimes thought of them as a couple, but she always found things in her head that seemed wrong about it. "I think we should give him up a good visit! You know I always love to visit the ones in jail too!" what she had meant by that was she loved setting jail people free, to let them roam again. To give them the second chance they never got.
She saw another sign "ooh! Whats this?" she slipped her arms off of John and picked up the paper. "ooh, a prize for bounty killin. Hmm, good money its got. Hey we could kill whoever wins this-and even enter ourselves if we want toooooo." She turned to him.

"So nice of you to notice, James. Yes I am a woman." She mutters putting her hat back on. "Today is just going to get worse, I can tell..." She says with a sigh before turning towards him, her eyes afire. Uh-oh. "Lets go." She says and drives rose into a gallop. Kate was on a death hunt again. She'd find their mark even if it killed her.
He rolled his eyes when she spoke, "Well yeah if you wanna be pessimistic about it then yeah the day will only get worse."
He could see the drive in her eyes when she looked at him and rode off, he sighed before coaxing Silver to move "God, it cant get any worse than this." He prodded Silver and the horse gave chase after Angel and Rose.

'Last chance to keep going on your own. Travelling with others can be a hassle...' he thought to himself. But he quickly decided, well, a bit of change was in order, might not be such a bad thing. And in a seasoned sort of manner, a few moments later he was in the saddle, patting Gray's neck. He was following, and it was clear that Gray as no slouch. The horse fit the rider well, as the pair were a gray streak of speed. In no time at all, they caught up.

"A whole two minutes?" Clyde asked, a brow raised. A grin broadened as he looked towards Dante. "Feeling generous today aren't you? I'd say a minute, tops!" The breeze that was made by the travel was a welcome respite from the heat, although it sure made Clyde glad his hat was on tight! But there was no feeling to compare to that of a fast gallop, to speed... and he was glad there was somebody out here who could appreciate that.

To Darkbrew it was, where perhaps even a bounty could be found. And suddenly the young gunslinger didn't feel quite so reserved, as things were looking up. And so he still smiled wide, quite pleased with how things were unfolding.

Dante was a far mile across the land until he slowed down slightly, just to find Clyde take over and catch up. Piston dashed so they were side by side, "As you wish, a minute it is!"

Piston was dashing at the same speed of Gray, the spectacular town which was a few seconds away from them was in sight, "Darkbrew is in a town of rebels, we might find a nice bounty there, if you wish."

Dante and Clyde were only half a minute away from the town when suddenly a swift bullet passed a few meters behind them, a clicking of boots could be heard, "Damn it!"

Piston noticed the danger a tad bit earlier than Dante and had already crouched low to dodge a bullet which zipped harmlessly above his head. Dante shouted for Piston to go ahead and shelter, the horse listened, it knew it's master too much too disagree. He was on the ground now, drawing Ebony and Ivory from his dark crimson cloak, he saw a group of figures with their guns held up at eye-level, pointing down to him.

Rolling to the right, Dante shot with Ebony to the man's foot to the most right, he heard a loud curse as they shot rounds at him, Dante dashed to his left and rolled behind a large boulder. He saw a large metal sign on the post, reflecting the figure of a muscled man carrying a rifle, it all shot right at him, the sniper was the one who was shooting. Dante spun Luck in his hands as he reloaded and shot it to the metal sign which rebounded straight into the skull of the sniper.

"Headshot, Quicksilver, let's enjoy this taste of action!" Dante said as his gunslinger personality kicked in.

The Morning and the Evening Sun
Laura halted the carriage in front of the general store. She secured it, patted Crumbs and went in. She was hoping that it wouldn't be crowded that day, and she could get what she needed quickly and go home. She opened the door-

-and saw the general manager being held at gunpoint by a man dressed all in black and wearing a bandana, hiding the bottom half of his face. They both turned to look at Laura, the shopkeeper's eyes wide with fright and concern, and the bandit's face... Well, Laura couldn't see anything of him except for he narrowing eyes. She took that as a bad sign.

"Well," she began, speaking in a nervous tone, "I must have come at a bad time. Terribly sorry to come in at a time like this. My apologies. Please don't mind me. I was just on my way out." She tripped walking backwards and fell. She stood up quickly. "No, no, I'm alright. No need to fuss over me. I'll just be on my way now."

Thus said, she began to hurry out.

Goldie put her arms around John, and John smiled at her, he liked the embrace. There was something special about Goldie, something that every other girl that John had been with lacked, perhaps it was her adventurous nature, maybe it was also the fact that she too liked mischief. Whatever it was John didn't really care, she was pretty, and that was easy to see, and so John didn't complain,

"Well Goldie, seems to me that a few people might be deservin' of a second chance, but you ain't thinkin' 'bout collect a bounty, unless ya know..." John paused, he was deep in thought. This was a moment that sent a chill down every badge wearin' man's spine. Blackheart was thinking, and nothing good came from thinking.

"What do you say you turn me in, to trick the sheriff. You tell him I ain't got any weapons, which of course is a lie, and then as soon as he hands you the money, I shoot him. Then you free the other inmates, and after that we ride away with a huge load a money, and the knowledge that we helped men get a second chance." He lifted his eye brows at her and smiled,

"What do you say to that sweetheart?"

Goldie blushed at his comment "well, that sure is a great idea. I'm so glad your here with me, I couldn't never do any of this on my own I hope you know." she smiled at him, the sun was burning against the back of her neck. Her eyes were shining with glee how he enjoyed her embrace. "Then we could steel his horse, mine is getting old. She is old, but sweet" she had started to pat the horses neck, she wasn't facing him. She turned her head to him "not sweet like you though."

John noticed that the sun was beating down on Goldie's neck, so he took off his hat and placed it on her,

"Ain't too many round these parts that call me sweet, but ain't no one in these parts like you." John gave her another grin, "So what do ya say we get the hell outta here, and we cause some good 'ol fashion mischief?" John pulled on the rains of Mercy, she whinnied loudly and began to ride ahead,

"You comin' slowpoke?" John smiled at her, though he wasn't known for his jokes, he sometimes cracked wise. He waved at her, and raised his eyebrows playfully.

Goldie climbed on her horse "No." she lied jokingly back. "I could dress up so that the sherrif won't regonize me, is that a good idea?" she caught up with him. Her appaloosa horse had heavy breathing, the poor thing looked troubled. "and I can call you sweet if I want too. I think I know you better than you do. You can't keep a straight face with me!" a smile glittered across her face. She kicked her horse in the ribs to make her go faster, the horse reared up-throwing her off. The animal triggered off quickly. Goldie hit the ground on her back, and after a few steps the horse did too. Goldie got up quickly and ran to its side. "Aaaw, I should have been thinking. John help me get her standing again-I need to get the saddle off her!"

((you spelt reigns wrong-you said rains...I spend alot of time riding horse myself!))

Clyde found himself greatly amused simply by the fact that Dante's speed really did rival his own. How long had it been since he came into a situation like that? Too long! Things were no fun if you had to slow down and wait for your friends to catch up, now were they?

"Heh, been too long since I've found a decent bounty to go after!" he replied. "So I hope you're right!" Thats when he heard the all too familiar whizzing of a bullet passing by. Not a bullet aimed for him, but rather at Dante. Still, Clyde was no fool when it came to a gunfight, or else he would not still be standing. Immediately he was off of Gray as well, finding himself crouched down on one knee as he pulled his guns out as well. Fine colt weapons they were, with names known only to him. Then again, nobody ever asked what they were called. Or rather lived to ask usually. Gray meanwhile dashed onwards as well, having seen this all before.

Clyde would be sure to give him a carrot tonight.

Right now, however, Clyde himself found the nearest shelter to be a nearby cactus. Not the best shelter, but it would do. Rolling behind it, he peered out and fired a pair of shots. They came one after the other, bang bang. He was just in time to catch Dante's shot as well, which made Clyde grin broader. "Nice shot! Ah you're a devil Pulse! Don't you know?" He laughed then, his grin broadening. "You're supposed to send bastards like this to Hell together!" His own shots then landed, one to the skull of the first man sending him down to the ground in instants. The otehr was to the throat of a second man. More shots rang out, to which Clyde ducked behind his cactus. The first few went sailing by, a few thudded into the cactus. Fools. Ah well, without shelter, those bastards would be going down soon enough!

And all the while he wore a grin, finding these were the best times of his life!

((Haha, there, writers block defeated! *does a victory dance*))

Goldie was at the weak horses side, luckily it had fallen on the left. She would be able to unknot the ropers cinch. She moved quickly as she unclipped the breastplates of the horses saddle. Goldie mummbled over and over "this saddle is not being left behind, this saddle is not being left behind!" she unwrapped the the cinch, unrolling it very quickly. The stirrup fell back down on her again, she frusteratedly through it onto the back again. It was finnally untied. She walked around to the other side of the horse, grabbed the horn and pulled. It slid alittle-the horse seemed frustrated that she was trying to slide a stirrup under her. She kicked at Goldie, but had no way to reach her. "Damnit John help me!" Goldie yelled at him.

John got off his horse quickly and ran to Goldie's side,

"Sorry sweetheart," He reached down and helped her with her job, the horse tried to kick John but he missed, "Woah there fella, we ain't tryin to hurt ya...well maybe we are...never the less calm down!"

When the job was finished John looked at Goldie,

"Well looks like your out a horse...It's a shame isn't it, seeing as how I have a horse and you don't, doesn't seem quite fair..." John laughed a bit,

"Well, you can ride with me and Mercy, cause I can't let a beauty like you walk." John got on his horse, and then held a hand out to Goldie.

Goldie smiled "hold on a second." She set down the thirty pound saddle, she tipped it over. Goldie took out a pocket knife, and cut open the inner saddle. Out poured gold coins, shining brightly. They glistened in the sun. "This is why I wouldn't leave it behind, I wouldn't have been able to get all the gold out." she stood up again, she stomped on it forcing it to crack. Out poured more gold, this is where she kept the gold from their last bankrupt.

Goldie hadn't told John about this. Just in case she couldn't trust him. She collected the coins and slipped them into the removable pocket that was on the saddle. She threw it over her shoulder. Goldie then climbed onto the horse with John.

"You give too much credit Quicksilver!" Dante's smirk could clearly be seen, "How modest do you have to be?"

His twin guns were almost out of bullets, so he reloaded in less than four seconds, a grin broadened on his face as he heard Quicksilver sent a few of them down to the ground, the hot rays of the sun beat down of the location, giving it a feeling of death, when the stench of the blood couldn't be smelt nor seen, and it would just evaporate in a while anyway.

Dante took a small peak at the remaining number of attackers, and from his point of view, only four were left. Dashing straight into their direction Dante was planning on leaping to the shelter nearer to them so he would get a clear shot. Dante was clearly making his name be remembered, he dodged shots which zipped passed his ear, the menacing glare in his eyes could be seen as he slowly sent Ebony and Ivory up to chest-level.

Dante reached in the same location of the large tree, which he was planning for shelter, except he was just a few meters to the side of it. Swiftly stepping to his right, he leaped and raised the twin guns and released a barrage of rounds, which barreled straight into the three which were close to each other, the last one was a bit farther away so he didn't get hit.

Rolling behind the tree, Dante quickly reloaded and then hid his guns, "Quicksilver, he's yours!"

((Yay, I barely passed Writers Block :P ))

John stared at her blankly, the gold shined in his eyes, if he didn't know Goldie as well, and if she was so pretty, John might have reacted differently. However, today he merely helped Goldie up on to the horse, and helped her secure the gold to his horse. He gave Mercy a good kick and she began to move forwards. John looked back at her,

"Well I must say I am glad that we didn't forget that," he chuckled a bit, "I'm glad you trust me enough now to show me." He smiled at her while he gave the horse another kick. John was paying attention and the horse went into a faster gallop, which sent towards Goldie. Fortunately he caught himself an inch before he hit her, his forehead nearly touching hers. He remained close to her for a second,

"My apologies Ma'am" he laughed, but remained close to her.

Dante was good at this, damn good in fact. It was a rarity these days. It seemed the impression going around these days was just slapping a belt on ones waist made you a gunslinger. But these men dropping like flies before the pair certainly proved otherwise, didn't they? Clyde could sure appreciate the skill, and wondered at why Dante's reputation wasn't wider known yet. Was he just starting out? All questions that could be asked later, right now there were a few dogs to be brought down!

Clyde, having reloaded his guns, peered out to take his next shot. As he did so, a pair of shots rang towards him. He grinned, knowing this was the last one. Dashing to the right out of cover, he fired his guns. The two shots were clean, one landing in the forehead, the next the chest. It was clear that Quicksilver lived true to his name, and was not one to waste time.

Finished, he blew the smoke from his guns and inspected the downed fellows. "Fools," he commented, shaking his head as he lightly tipped his hat. "They just never learn you have to make every shot count. Good for us though." Clyde laughed lightly, whistling twice. Gray came running back now, coming to a stop in front of him.

"And you... you're going to make one Hell of a name for yourself," he told Dante, a light smile over his features as he hopped back onto Gray. "You know, I should have probably gone with that two minute option," he joked, grinning once more. He was in high spirits, but then, any fight a cowboy could walk away unscathed from was a good one wasn't it?

((Yay! :3 Haha, I feel for ya, I get it aaaall the time x-x ))

Goldie smiled at him. "My pa always said 'It doesn't matter about trust-you keep your gold to yourself' but heck with the dumby I wanna buy us something shiny to share! I'm not quite sure what it will be-but it don't matter now." John had accidentaly almost bumped into her he told her how he was sorry "Its alright..." a couple moments of riding the horse Goldie told him "I'm tired, maybe within the next couple inns we should call it a day and take care of him tomorrow." Goldie slid her arms around his waste to stay on longer and for as much as she could hide it she liked him. She thought he was cute, and as long as he didn't mind her holding on, she didn't either.

John felt good; the wind blew past his face, Mercy carried on at an extremely quick pace. This was one of the things John loved, riding along a deserted road, it was times like these that John felt at peace with the world. In fact he could only think of two other sets of circumstances that caused John to feel this innate serenity with the world around him, crime and women. Perhaps the John's mindset was bolstered by the chance of having all those things, he nearly jumped at the thought.

As he continued on he heard Goldie speak,

"I'm tired, maybe within the next couple inns we should call it a day and take care of him tomorrow."

She then put her arms around him, ordinarily John, when on the pursuit of a target, would forgoe inns for the simple peace of the middle of the desert. In fact John couldn't remember the last time he slept in a formal inn, nevertheless he decided that an inn was a good idea. As to why he could figure out,

"You got it sweetheart, we're goin’ past Tuller County right now, best we don't stop there, ain't no reasonable man in that town that'd be happy to see us. 'specially after we handled that little gold problem they we're having," he laughed to himself, "the way I see it, we ride for 'bout another hour well reach Fittle. Probably the best place for us to stay, seeing as how we haven't been there before. Hope that's alright."

He gave Mercy another kick and she responded with an even faster gallop, he felt Goldie's arms around him, and he liked it. Blackheart felt warm inside.

"Alright, thank you. And I can disguise you, you don't have to worry-I'm here," It was odd how Goldie said this. It sounded as though she was mothering her best friend, it was no joke though. She still had her arms casually hanging around his waste. She leaned her cheek against his back. She hoped he didn't mind, she liked hanging with him. She liked hearing him speak, and how he couldn't keep a straight face with her, she liked how he was special, and daring. And if it somehow could have hurt her she didn't mind.

John felt Goldie rest her cheek against his back, her arms were still around his waist. John slowed the horse down a little bit to make the ride easier for her, but he kept going towards Fittle. He passed a few sign posts and abandoned carts that lay broken on the side of the road. Eventually the road he was following lead them to a ridge, that over looked the town of Fittle.

"There it is cutie, Fittle. What do you say you get me in a disguise then we get ourselves an inn?" John dismounted the horse then helped Goldie down,

"So what sort a disguise you gonna create? Ain't disguised myself in a long while." John smiled at her, it was true that John hadn't worn a disguise in a while, but seeing as how he didn't want to much trouble he would allow himself to be hidden. In most cases however John preferred that the enemy knew who he was, it helped him to create a lasting reputation.
