The Hand of Doom, a term scarcely used in jest or joke. Though the concept may seem outlandish, it is no issue to be taken lightly. The Hand have been the most secretive and deadly of all the casters since time immemorial. They are a caste of five great spell-weavers. Stories and records speak of the Hand exterminating the populace of an entire kingdom with the Winds of Magic, the source of the True Power.

Though the Hand was, at first, a paragon to the people, being the arcane guardians of their king, they soon grew mad, corrupted by the king that now rules the land with a fist as cold as ice, hard as iron, and as unforgiving as a rabid dog. Now, more than ever, the Hand are powerful beyond measure, feeding from the True Power like a famished horse from a basket of apples. The mad king Bhaldur, his sense of morality and sanity completely decayed by his evil, declared war on all nonhumans; stating that every man, woman, and child of nonhuman nature would be killed or publicly executed, any sympathizers or supporters of the nonhuman kind will be tortured and executed as well.

All looked grim, but a gathering was massing in the Myst Forest, one of the forgotten lands. The home of he Shapers and Singers, the Eldyr, the Firstborn, the Elves. Here, in the elven safehaven, the greatest leaders of the nonhuman's gathered under a banner of peace and allegiance. The Eldyr chaperoned the meeting, making sure that their younger kin would not get into a fight over long-forgone but not forgotten grudges.

Here, in the Myst Forest, the nonhuman's planned their counter attack. Some, like the Blödhgarm, demanded open war, to shed as much blood as possible and to place the heads of their enemies on pikes as wards. Others, like the Gatä, wanted to fight more discretely and strategically. Then others, like the Cyntür did not want to fight at all, they thought it best to escape the lands and sail to the White Shore, the homeland of the Eldyr, the true Eden.

The nonhumans were making a huge gamble. If they openly fought the Empire, they would be hunted down to extinction, if they stood by and did nothing, they would either be hunted to extinction or the men would be killed and the women and children made slaves, or worse. The decisions made in the council of Myst would shape the future of the nohuman races that up until recently, had been only a part of lore and myth.

And then they murdered the whole world....

A group of Angmarian representatives entered the Myst Forest, flanked on both sides by Irongard, with two warriors at each side. at the head of the group, was Magni Sunbeard, a veteran Irongard with years of experince, he was chosen to take command of the guard during the meeting.

The Angmarians soon arrived at the rendezvous point. noticing some late arrivals.

Kenny sprinted ahead of her group, rushing past trees and fallen branches. Every once in a while, she would stop and sniff the air, and then go on ahead again. She was not the only Gatä traveling to the Gathering, but she was the only one truly excited.

She had been in skirmishes before; she knew battle and death. But she was going to fight for the existance of her people, and if they were going to die, she would take down as many humans with her as possible.

Also she was young compared to her older relatives, so she was prone to excitment. Kenny ran back and forth like a bumblebee, until she sensed one of her people behind her. She turned around to see her older brother standing there with his arms crossed, and he was tapping his foot.

"Kenny, for the last time, stop acting like your age, and at least pretend that you're worried." With a shake of his head, he turned and headed back to the group mumbling "You're almost as bad as the Blödhgarm."

Kenny called after him "At least they aren't afraid to take risks!" But he was ignoring her now, so she just sniffed and started running again. When she arrived outside the circle, she waited until the others were there as well, and then, according to rank, they entered the Sacred Meeting Ground. The Patriarchs and Matriarchs of the clans went in first (Kenny's grandparents) then the tribal leaders (Kenny's parents), then the elite (Kenny's two oldest sisters and brothers), and then the rest of them started coming in.

She was respectfully quiet when she entered. Kenny silently found her place among the Gatä, and sat down to wait. She was actually excited to see all the Others. Kenny had never seen a Cyntür or a Blödhgarm. She was especially excited about seeing them. She wanted to see if she could stand up to them in battle.

Skarryn walked slowly with a purpose, he and his battle-bretheren walking in unison, their dark leather cloaks dragging on the muddy earth behind them. They each held their swords high, their muscles bulging under their pale skin.

Skarryn was at the head of the warband, standing taller than the rest, his scarred body standing out against his dark clothing and hair. His eyes shone like fiery suns in their socketts.

He could smell the others ahead of him, they were late, as usual, though he did not care. His foster-father, the chieftan of his tribe and the prime diplomat on this mission, was old and growing weak, and none of them were rather exited to be where they were.

"Bloody Elves and their politics..." Skarryn growled aloud as he entered the clearing of the meeting, all the other nonhuman representatives there, as well as some human sympathisers.
And then they murdered the whole world....

Kenny's ears picked up the steps of the Blödhgarm as they came forward. She knew it was them becuase their steps were heavier, and they paid no attention to the amount of noise they made, like they knew they could handle anything.

She was the only one who watched them come into the clearing. Her eyes widened and so did her grin. They were everything she imagined they'd be; they looked like warriors.

Especially the leader. He was amazing, the very idea of what Kenny thought a Blödhgarm warrior would be. She felt excitment stir in her bones, and her tail twitched with anticipation. She was desperatly hoping for a chance to challange at least a few of them, and see how she stood up.

If she could at least gain their respect, which she heard was hard to do, Kenny was sure her family would recognize her as a true Elite in her own right.

Sakrryn reached the round table in the chamber and stood with his arms crossed, his face in a scowl as he surveyed the others around him. He saw them as unfit and all around weak, but then again, that is how the Blödhgarm saw all of their nonhuman counterparts.

His eyes did set on one of the Gatä, however. A youngling, but she had giddy spirit, and smiled at Skarryn in a near kindred fashion, which befuddled the grizzly warrior. He tried his best to avert his gaze, but he kept looking back to her. He stood straight as an arrow, his arms crossed and his highly muscled form, with all it's scars, stood poised, ready for anything.

An Eldyr entered the clearing, his hair was silver and his face lined with age,

"This meeting of Sages is not in order..." Skarryn sighed and laid his head back, sighing aloud, openly displaying his disgust for these politics. To occupy himself whilst the elders talked, the young Blödhgarm Thran Warrior pulled out one of his knives and started flipping it in his hand, seeming oblivious to the fact that he may loose a finger.

And then they murdered the whole world....

Magni and the other Diplomats took their seats, as they passed the cold gaze of the Blödhgarm Warrior, Sakrryn. they felt a sence of uneasyness, being in the same place with the Blödhgarm.

As Magni took his seat, he set down his Axe on the floor next to him, and laid back, relaxing as talks begin. Magni noticed the young warrior show his displeasure in the meeting. while it may not have been his place to say something, he went ahead. "Hey, Boy. Id show some respect if i were you, this could save all our asses from the Empire."

Skarryn chuckled at the stuntie's remark towards his behavior. As a retort, Skarryn looked at him as he responded, still flipping his knife about,

'Tell me, Angmarian. How old are ye'? I highly doubt you are in such a position to be callin' me "boy"" Skarryn's voice was deep and rumbly, yet somewhat sing-songey when he spoke, because of his Highland accent (scottish accent).

And then they murdered the whole world....

* I LOVE Scottish accents. How did you know? XD*

Kenny noticed how the leader kept glancing her way. Almost like he was confused. Kenny giggled, but shut up as soon as her grandmother looked at her. She didn't look happy either. Which was bad, conisdering that everytime Grandmother was upset, she usually made Kenny run 100 miles around a certain area that needed 'patroling'.

She sat perfectly still, and didn't even giggle when the Angmarian and the Blödhgarm started fighting. The only part of Kenny that moved were her eyes, and they followed the knife going up and down in the air. But she didn't notice that her tail began to twich in time with the throws.

Her brother did, though, and he accidentally (purposly) stamped his foot down on itl. She gave a yowl which she stiffled, and he glared at her.

"Don't even think about it,," he hissed.

Magni snarled a bit, "Old enough to know when i see a youngling, despite your age." he replied to Skarryn, tempted to just grab his Axe or dagger, as he slowly stood up, the elderly angmarian diplomat that sat next to him laid his hand on Magni's right shoulder, shaking his head in disapproval. "Remain patient, Warrior. nows not the time."

Magni nodded to the diplomat, and sat back down. "Aye, i apologize. i will conserve my Axe for the real enemy."

As the Angmarian finished speaking, Skarryn grinned. Sporting rows of long, sharp, and glistening lupine teeth. Through those teeth, a chuckle that bordered the sound of madness slipped through. Skarryn openly laughed, then caught his knife, flipped in his hand, and stabbed it into the wooden table, which was grown from the very ground. The table shook and drinks spilled as all eyes seemed to divert to him, his maniacal grin still on Skarryn's face.

The arms of the massive Blödhgarm warrior tensed and bulged, veins seeming ready to burst. Skarryn was having trouble containing his berserker spirit, his wolf spirit. Such was his gift and his curse. He was itching to fight, but he knew that if he did, it would only make things more difficult.
And then they murdered the whole world....

Magni glared at the Blödhgarm, knowning the looks in his eyes, he just wanted to leap over the table and strike, but he also noticed the amount od restraint, and chuckled a bit.

One of the Diplomats stood up. "As we know of the human threat, we ask the Elves of what action is to be taken in dealing with them?"

As soon as he spoke the words, everyone began talking at once. Kenny's grandparents, her parents, the elders of the other races... It was one big hullablaoo about what to do. Kenny just sat there quietly drinking it all in. She knew she wasn't smart enought to absorb all of it. She was a warrior soldier, nothing more. Point her, and she would kill.

Kenny sighed and slumped over, crossing her legs and letting her tail twitch out her irriation. She wanted to fight, and all this babbling wouldn't really help her scratch that itch.

Oh, of course the needed a plan; Kenny knew that. She just wished they already had one so she could get some action.

The longer Skarryn sat there, the more he wanted to cause hell and anarchy, it was just his nature. He glanced across the table and saw that the Gatä girl across from him had a similar look. He was intrigued by her, he wanted the meeting to end so he could talk with her. He stood and roared above all the other voices,

"We are accomplishing nothing! We sit here like scared sheep, waiting for the Hand of Doom to smite us! I say we fight! We hang them by their own innards and we drown them out with their blood! Too long have we been living in fear! I say that it is our turn to make them fear us!"
And then they murdered the whole world....

The Angmarians looked to one another, and nodded in agreement with Skarryn's little outburst, the elder diplomat spoke. "We agree with the Blödhgarm, unfortunately, war is perhaps the only anwser."

Magni nodded as well. "Aye, he is right. i hate to admit it though."

Kenny's grandmother, Matriarch Ulshikyara spoke in a calm, placid tone. But she held an air of authority, one that was not to be ignored. "While my people are in agreement in that there must be bloodshed, we will not go into battle carelessly. If we simply go out in open war and place all our hopes on one great battle, we will most certainly lose. We lack the resources and troops for such a feat. To do so would ensure the deaths of all our cultures and races."

As she spoke, she looked around at everyone present. "Therefore, we propose the following course of action. Gurilla warfare. Hit-and-Run tactics. Sneak attacks. Sudden strikes and raids that leave confusion and devastation behind. These will lower moral and put fear into the hearts of the greener troops as well as the common people. Fear is good. Fear is power. If we have power, we gain control. With control, we will be able to get directly at the Hand itself."

She leaned back and let her mate, Patriarch Gorliark take over. "As our Esteemed Matriarch has said, sudden, unpredicted attacks are best. This causes confusion, and confusion will give us an edge. By randomly attacking trade caravans, we will be depriving the empire of resources they need. We should start small, with small trading routes. This will keep us from the Empires attention until we become a real pain. While they are debating what to do with us 'ragtag bandits', we will begin larger, more organized raids against the larger trading guilds. We will take their goods for ourselves and use them to fund our war."

He gave a smirk. "We will profit greatly from this. And with the extra money, we could hire mercenaries who have no loyalty to the Empire. If we pick out the right ones, we will be more than a match for them by the time the Day comes."

Kenny whispered to her cousin sitting next to her. "Isn't this like that old saying, uh, how does it go?"

Her cousin whispered back "Counting your fish before you've caught them?"

"Yes, that's it."

"Kind of, but I think what Grandfather is trying to do is sell them on the idea so we don't do anything rash."

Kenny nodded. "Oh. Okay. Yes, that makes sense." They leaned back to see what the rest of the council would say to this.
