PROLOGUE

Within the archives of the great kingdom of Arely (pronounced: Air-el-lee), the histories of past victories and triumphs of the kingdom’s forefathers and mothers are the highlights of their culture. Battles told of vanquishing the ones known as ‘Spirit Speakers,’ unearthly monsters who could communicate with the souls of the other world and raise the dead from their near eternal slumber. Arely also defeated beings known as ‘Elementalists,’ evil creatures who walked the realm like humans, except with the ability to smite their enemies with the use of air, water, fire, and earth. They also were known to cause great floods, wildfires, and anything sociable to any kind of chaos. Among their triumphs, were the people known as ‘Skin Changers,’ beings who could change their appearance to look like any other person or animal in the area. They were terrible enemies who could not have been defeated without the help of the past king, His Majesty Raphael the Third’s quick mind and strategic abilities. Alas, there were the ones only known as ‘The Blood,’ for their blood sang and held power over the first three enemies. They were the most horrendous of them all, and almost brought collapse to the kingdom of Arely. However, the succeeding King and his three sons, with courage unveiled to the evils of The Blood, road into battle with swords raised and spirits high. Within two years, The Blood were banished from the Arely, and everyone rejoiced. Yet, it all came with a terrible price. The King died while fighting the King of The Blood; who after slaying the noble sovereign, fled like the coward he was.

The Queen of Arely, heartbroken and in angst, outlawed any magic within the kingdom. Even the helpful mage to the family was taken to the pyre and burned alive for collaborating with the Devil. So, magic was punishable by death.

Another problem came to the kingdom. The eldest son was to be married before he could take the throne, but the court advisers (who liked the power of controlling the kingdom for a bit), persuaded the Queen to not let him find a bride until his twenty-first birthday. In those five years (for he was sixteen when his father died), he learned the kingdom and its people like the back of his hand. He always came off as arrogant and took nothing seriously, but he held more maturity than he let on (acting behind the scenes and making sure things were actually done). Only the middle prince could see this though, for he was more mature than the eldest and incredibly intelligent than the youngest. The youngest son, taking to knowing he wouldn’t be succeeding the throne any time soon, became infatuated with the arts of Love and Lust - taking any girl he made swoon at his feet to his chambers - and let us not say anymore on the matter. The three princes had become the heart of the kingdom, and they all were taught the same thing. Hate magic. It had killed their father and almost brought their home to pieces. Such a horrible thing as magic could not be considered anything else but evil.

Thus, did the twenty-first birthday of the eldest son came about. Arrangements were made for the princesses of the equally powerful kingdoms around the world; either way, who the prince married, strong alliances would be made. So, with sleeping quarters for each princess made, and party set - they would stay until the prince chose his bride. The time limit was not set exactly, but the advisers hoped it would be long enough - for they had become greedy with power over the last five years. The eldest prince had found this just too troublesome, but at the same time, he was anxious about it (though he didn’t admit that to anyone). The middle prince would just stay silent at his twin's side, being the person the eldest spoke to when he didn’t want to be around anyone. It was always like that. Lastly, the youngest was anticipating the ladies of the kingdoms - thinking it a challenge he most certainly accepted.

What the kingdom was not expecting though was that among the princesses coming, some of them would be the one thing they feared the most. The enemies of old were returning in a ‘sweeter’ form. Except for one. The only enemy never known to be ‘sweet,’ and the only one very close to bringing Arely to its knees - The Blood had returned. Stronger and powerful than the other princesses… and in male form dressed as a female. Seriously, who would expect that?! Obviously, not the Arely royals

A recycled oldy made in the heat of the moment. Too bad I can't get the original cast back in; oh well, tis why we have remakes! XD

Alright, anyway, this is about the kingdom of Arely - who after winning battles upon battles of magic and such - banished magic from the kingdom, and anyone caught in the act of doing it would be forsaken to the pyre. In any case, the eldest prince of Arely must be married to succeed his father’s throne. So, upon his twenty-first birthday, a party is set and princesses of each powerful kingdom are sent for as potential brides for His Highness. However, unbeknown to the Arely Royals, some of these princesses are descendants of the enemies Arely defeated long ago. Yet, they are changed in their ways - more peaceful than not. Only one enemy has come into the party with the complete intention of revenge - The Blood Prince… dressed as a princess (har har)!! In any case, the princesses will be staying in the kingdom until the Prince chooses his bride - or until he falls in love. The princesses who use magic must be careful though, or else they will be suffering the same fate as their counterparts long ago.

Well, this thread is a romance, so the princesses can fall in love with whoever they want - not just the eldest prince. They could end up with the middle (who in this remake is the twin to the eldest) or youngest prince, a knight of their own guard, a servant; heck, they could even fall for the cross-dressing villain (which would be pretty hectic, mind you, that your character be questioning her sexual orientation)! Just remember, the princesses with powers are individually less powerful than The Blood Prince; after all, he has the powers of the three.

Rules:
1) 2-3 paragraphs minimum! Not maximum, meaning I don't want to see one line of dialogue considered to be a paragraph. Need full length.
2) Go by character sheets!
3) No speed posting or doubleposting.
4) All OOC stay here!
5) You're not going to instantly fall in love with whoever you wish. This thread is supposed to be at a certain pace so don't expect your character to be jumping back and forth between scenes all quick-like and such.
6) Godmoding will NOT be tolerated. If I see one hint of it, you will get only ONE warning. If it continues, you will be removed from the roleplay.
7) Please, PLEASE, if you are leaving the thread or you are going to be gone for a certain amount of time, notify me or else I will kill off your character in some freak chandelier accident. :/
8) This is made to be a sort of drama, but all in all it's for fun/comedy with action sequences. So, let loose!

Name: (Full name)

The Blood:
 • The Blood Prince:

The Arely Royals:

The Arely Advisers:

Misc. Characters (servants to the princes or princesses, etc.):

There will be more princesses in the roleplay, but many of them will be NPCs.
DON'T POST YOUR CHARACTERS UNTIL I POST MINE PLEASE! It'll save you some confusion. XD I will be adding some things for characters so it will be easier for others to make their profiles.

Congratulations - I have never seen "in angst" used as a descriptive before. I burst out laughing and I'm still giggling now and again. I think I'm going to start using that phrase now!

I wonder if I can call forth my inner drag queen for this.

This is mainly for the princesses, blood prince, and the Arely royals - as in pictures. I know some roleplayers hate it when appearances are preplanned, but it helps me that way - sorry kiddos. One can understand why I like Heise, Feimo, and Jiuge so much. XD

Name: Annabelle Aiyala Varienne

Age: 20

Kingdom hailed from: Ferezian, known for it's trading routes and fighters.

If one of the magical beings, which one?: Spirit Speaker

Rank: Princess

Gender: Female

Abilities/Powers: Known to climb up trees, scale walls, and have a high tendency to do acrobatics - Anna also has her lady like hobbies such as writing and/or reading poetry, play the harp, sing, and ride horseback side saddle (though she hates it as much as studying).

Her powers are, to say the least, disconcerting. She has the ability to see and speak to the dead so on many occasions, her ladies in waiting find her talking to things that aren't there. Sometimes holding conversations with herself for hours upon hours, it has come to the conclusion that the princess is insane (though she really isn't). She can even bring the dead back to life, but alas, it takes so much out of her that she can go into a coma for an extended period of time or die depending on what she revived. Anna has had a traumatizing experience with this talent so she never uses that power unless there is no way to help the victim.

Weapons: None.

Description: Annabelle has the air of royalty that every princess holds in her own way; however, behind the courtly facade is a tom-boy through and through. When she is at home, she is usually in pants, tunics, and riding boots with hair flowing in disarray around her waist. Because she lives in the mountains where the sun doesn't shine due to constant cloud coverage, her skin is very pale (contrast to her dark hair and eyes). In court, Anna wears the stereotypical court gowns with her hair bound in braids on her head. To finish off the disguise, she lifts her chin in a snobbish way (only doing that so she can get away from people easily. She's not a charmer).

Her attitude towards things is very direct and forthright. When someone is wronged, she will defend them to the utmost ability whether she has to drop her snobby disguise or not. Her family knows she is kind though their opinion of her madness still makes them wary of her. In this respect, Anna is a very lonely, insecure girl. Yet, she has come to realize she isn't like everyone else and questions her own existence. Besides her own troubles, she tries her best not to dwell on the past - even if it there will come a time when the past may be the only way out for her.

Bio: Born to a benevolent king and a sickly queen, Annabelle was the apple of her father's eye. She grew up as sickly as her mother, who passed away when she was only five, but under the great care of her father's physicians Anna turned out to be one healthy child. Her studies were strict. Her tutors were slave drivers. Her ladies in waiting were her only friends. She never understood why her father sheltered her the way he did, but in the back of her mind Anna thanked him for doing it. The consequences of such sheltering gave way to "imaginary friends."

In her tenth year, Anna knew something about her was off. The friends she had come accustomed to had a knack for going through walls, people, and at times her. When she received odd looks from her ladies in waiting, the princess learned that what she thought was normal, wasn't normal at all. By this time, it was a rumor that she was, indeed, insane. Because of this, the number of suitors that had been waiting for her dwindled, and the King thought it best to keep her hidden from the world, either to protect her or too ashamed of her; she didn't know. The king never spoke of it to her, but his daughter had a feeling that he was aware of something that he didn't want to say. It took another few years before he finally admitted that her mother was a Spirit Speaker. The truth of it was dangerous; Anna had to live with the rumor of being insane, but in a way it was a relief. She was never one for marriage anyway.

That is... until Arely's messenger came and invited the princess to the kingdom, which to her dismay - she had no choice but to attend. Her father really wanted for her to get married; not out of business, but for her happiness. So, sadly, to humor her father - she goes to attend the Prince (with his reputation of arrogance and nonchalance towards everyone) with the intention of making him hate her.

Forgive my long-arse babble, but I found myself being rather caught and captivated by the image you put up...and my imagination did the rest. I hope it suits.

Username: Nuviev
Name: Ulthea Niltheri
Age: 20
Kingdom hailed from: Alstheora
If one of the magical beings, which one?: Skin Changer
Rank: Princess
Gender: Female
Abilities/Powers: The ability to shift into animals, with a rather acute preference for mythical creatures – phoenix, unicorns, wyvern, manticores, kirin – she is unique amongst her people in that she can shift into creatures more in keeping with imagination than reality.
Weapons: N/A
Description: Ulthea is somewhat taller than many female counterparts, with pale features. It could be said in reality she appears quite plain, but she possesses the equipoise and grace to embrace simplicity and transform it into elegance: her sweeping silk clothing is embroidered with fine metallic threads and deep natural hues, sewn in such a cunning fashion it could be believed that her apparel was made from living floral blooms; her long auburn-brown hair adorned with hairsticks and flowers; her brow and throat wound about with the finest jewels and metals which comprise a portion of her dowry.

Bio: Ulthea grew up as the pride and joy of her parents. Although she was no great beauty, she had a gentle grace and serene, easy smile which delighted her kin and made her a joy to be around. Even so, her family harboured their secret lineage which had recently become outlawed, and though none but the royals spoke of it to anyone, they watched silently, and schooled their child to the arts which they hoped she would eventually perfect; if not for revenge, but for the right to be as they were, proud and free – for the people of Alstheora have a very different account of their past, and why they fought their wars against Arely...
Ulthea was an avid reader, especially of the myths and fantasies of her people. Storytellers were a constant in the nursery, and the best and most prolific storytellers were quite well paid. Ulthea would sit rapt listening to their stories of vanquishing heroes and fair maidens, creatures of fancy and benevolent animal spirits. She rapidly became an authority on myth and legend, though no one suspected how such would manifest itself. To everyone else – especially her tutors – Ulthea seemed to be a daydreamer, persistently missing her lessons to stare out a window or lose herself in a fantasy tale from her nursery library.

Eventually the day came where Ulthea spontaneously underwent her first transformation; the evening story from the Royal Storyteller had related a tale of a mythical bird with feathers like molten gold – it had seemed charming when Ulthea questioned the teller to the very smallest detail what the bird looked like, but none dreamed that she was constructing the bird in her mind’s eye in order to transform herself into its likeness. That very evening, as a gift to her parents, she transformed into the brilliant bird with golden, trailing plumes. The King and Queen were shocked, and yet delighted – their daughter held the magic strong and true, but now it fell to them to make sure she guarded it well, and rather than instill a sense of fear and foreboding in here, they cultivated her abilities gently, and privately. Wise Ulthea followed their counsel unquestioning.

Indeed, Ulthea seemed capable of not merely transforming herself into the likeness of animals and people nearby, but she could even summon forth the ability to make herself into the likeness of animals which had never existed; creatures which came from myth or legend from Arely’s past. Indeed, she excelled far beyond any other ability, explaining this rather fascinating feat of creating a form out of fantasy rather than fact due to “imagination being much more interesting and beautiful”. However, she was not merely capable of creating creatures of iridescent plumes or pearlescent scales; she could create diamonite claws and razor sharp teeth, and could defend herself if need be. No fainting flower, this princess...and yet she was no harpy.

Whilst her family still smarted under the indignity of being written henceforth into history as outlawed monsters, Ulthea pondered Arely itself, and the three princes who ruled the kingdoms therein. A quick thinking child, she brought forth a plan to her family; if she were to be offered in marriage to the Arely Kingdom, once the marriage was binding, surely once she charmed such a one, and won his heart, she could have the magic ban lifted, for even the new King’s law would overrule his mother’s code. Her parents feared for their daughter, and refused her proposal, but Ulthea was patient and adamant, and there was a fair logic to her request; for a princess was little more than a political bartering chip, and well she knew it.

Reluctantly, her family agreed, and Ulthea prepared herself for a journey to Arely, bringing forth the best of her arts and charms, and vowing to do her best to appeal to whichever prince seemed to be the most politically influential.

Personality-wise, Ulthea is calm, serene, but nevertheless a determined young woman, proud of her heritage yet sensible enough to realise it would be unwise to flaunt it. She is considerably more humble than one would expect a princess to be and a bit more level-headed as well. Even so, she is still young, and as love and courtship is something she only has a vague understanding of, chances are the reality might come as a bit of a shock.

Bah, sorry for the failure of a list description. I feel rather ill right now, and it's hard to come up with something half decent. I will probably try and fix it up later, when my brain can work at full capacity.

Username: Rapture.
Name: Miles Renault Arely.
Age: Twenty-first.
Kingdom hailed from: Arely.
Rank: Prince of Arely, twin to the soon-to-be-betrothed heir to the kingdom's throne.
Gender: Male.
Abilities: An excusite aptitude for the piano and violin.
Weapons: Miles is not a strong supporter of unneccesary violence, but if needed, will use a simplistically elegant stiletto he occasionally carries on his person. The blade has a triangular form, which is because the wounds inflicted by the weapon are irregular, which do not heal effectively, nor quickly. Due to this, the chance of infection, which could very easily lead to a slow and painful death, are increased. The grip is of onyx color, smooth and cold to the touch, the twirled shape giving the weapon a subtle sense of grace. At the very end of the hilt almost a silver knob of sorts, which is smoothed to the same gentle twisting. It is kept in a black scabbard, which is embellished with silver at the top and bottom.
Description: His personality is rather rather interesting embodied in the form of young prince, which is necessary, lest his elder sibling make a mess of things or his younger fall into trouble with another of his romances gone sour. Easily considered the responsible one of the trio, Miles is usually the one picking up the pieces and tidying up the messes, which he takes upon himself to do. The youthful man is quiet in nature, which only makes the moments he lets his voice be heard that more attention worthy. He is a very considerate, polite and selfless person, although most simply see him as the quiet little scholar who locks himself behind closed doors, both literally and figuratively.

Because of his self-reliant nature, it is difficult for others to really desire forging any relationship with him. He, at times, is practically invisible, which is a surprising feat, due to his heritage. At least, he only seems so compared to his two rowdier brothers. Miles hardly allows any servants to assist him, since he finds they had better things to do than assist him with tasks any competent person could normally accomplish. The only exceptions he will make are food, since he never was much of a chef. And even then, he will offer valuables or currency to those whom assist him, wishing to personally reward them for their endeavors.

Aesthetically, he could be considered appealing, from his slightly pale skin to his dark whispy hair, but his reclusive personality is usually a set-off to the many maidens, those of the court and otherwise. Besides, they are usually too preoccupied with swooning over his siblings, which he does not mind at all.

Bio: Miles, since his early youth, has had a facinsation with literature, varying from the meticulously scribed history books which could easily, due to their mass, be used as a deadly weapon, to intricate prose. Due to his time spent in the royal family's vast and well-stocked library, his intelligence, wit, and sheer sense of mind sharpened and grew. He has always been one to observe, especially before taking action. The prince finds it easier to make decisions when he has a good grasp on the situation at hand.

Not only was he earnest with time spent in the library, he took an interest with music after stumbling across a few books which discussed it frequently. With his natural sense of subtlety, he managed to aquire a piano and violin for himself, and practiced on his own. Through many years of work and self-tutoring, his skill is surprisng. Despite his precision and masterful playing, Miles prefers to keep his talents a secret, practicing in a secret room connected to his own quarters he discovered when he was much younger. It is, fortunately, sound proof, so he can practice and perfect in peace. No one knows of his musical hobby, and he intends to keep it that way.

Due to causing the passing of his father and near destruction of his homeland, he despised magic for a few months after the defeat of The Blood. After he managed to contain his grief, he debated for countless hours within his mind as to whether or not magic was truly evil. Being a philosipher in his own right, and through much mental turmoil and consideration, forged a tenuous truce of sorts with magic. But, he would never allow his opinion of it to be spoken of, since he knew the trouble and pain it would cause.

Despite being at a ripe age of youth, Miles has never been in an affectionate relationship, let alone commited sexual acts. He hasn't even so much as kissed a woman, which is not an experience he misses. Some people have even whispered behind concealing hands and fans that he might even be attracted to men, which would explain his disinterest in a romantic relationship and it makes for a juicy piece of gossip. But, like most rumors, it is untrue.

In all honesty, he's not really attracted to anyone.

It seems there's some rather nasty bugs going round as a fair few of the gaming community are suffering from what we call "the lurgy" so I imagine once feel a bit less like death, there will be better chances.

I'll prod a few this way if I can manage it.

The lurgy - fluish, coldish, sickish sort of thing. So, yes, what you'd find in a port-a-potti is sometimes quite accurate a description!

Right, word spread, and now...hm...I think I may have to watch the Storyteller today for a bit of inspiration.

Who knows, I might join. Yet writing a couple paragraphs may be a tad difficult for me..

No, instead I will see this as a test of true roleplaying skills, and how far I really can use what I have.

Give me time to come up with a profile, because I have absolutely no time right now. (as in I'm off in about... 10 minutes.)
