Turns out I've been doing sensor detection wrong, folks - I should have taken a page from the NEAR project. Instead of having all objects instantly visible, they should come into detection the longer you hang around in the system, bigger ships and objects first down to the smallest ones last. This is because you get a low resolution sensor image first and refine the resolution as you keep your sensor drones out. I'll apply this methodology once Melutar gets his sorry ass back from the Slavic pogroms or wherever.

Also a note on sensors - it is far more cost-effective and doable to attempt to burn out or blind enemy sensors (a strategy called 'dazzle stealth') than to make an undetectable ship. Laser-equipped ships, for example, could burn out VSE sensors or blind them temporarily with a good roll.

Think outside the box!
