To extract the textures, I use ARCtool with a little bit of hex to fix/import the textures. Download ARCtool.rar and ARCtool-PC-batch.rar here: http://www.tzarsectus.com/tools/ Extract and put in the same "ARCtool" folder ARCtool.exe, pc-dmc4se.bat and pc-re6.bat
So Ryu 1 is 0001_00.arc, Deadpool 6 is 0040_05.arc, etc,. those files are in "Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3\nativePCx64\chr\archive\". To extract Ryu's 1st costume, put 0001_00.arc in the "ARCtool" folder and pull the file on pc-dmc4se.bat, it will create a "0001_00" folder with the extracted files and a 0001_00.arc.txt file used to repack the arc. To mod textures you only need to edit files in "0001_00\chr\Ryu\model\1p". To extract textures put ARCtool.exe and pc-re6.bat in the folder with the .tex file you want to edit ("1p"), pull the file on pc-re6.bat and you get a dds and a txt file with the format of the file.
There's a problem with the extraction, the tool takes too much data at the beginning of the file (some of the mipmap addresses). You have to open the tex and the dds in hex to compare them: Here on the tex file the texture data starts at offset 0x60 (after the mipmap addresses):
![]() The length of the texture data is AAAB0. On the dds file the texture data starts at offset 0x80, but we see stuff that shouldn't be here:
![]() Get rid of it to fix the file: ![]() The length of the texture data is now the same as in the tex file: AAAB0. Before: ![]() After: ![]() Edit the texture in Photoshop: ![]() Save it with the right dds format: 1024x1024 - DXT1 - 10 Mips Open it with the tex file in hex:
Save. Get back to the main "ARCtool" folder where you have the "0001_00" folder, the 0001_00.arc.txt, ARCtool.exe and pc-dmc4se.bat You can leave backups and files you work with in the folders, only the files that are in the txt file are going to be repacked. Pull the "0001_00" folder on pc-dmc4se.bat it will create a new 0001_00.arc file. Put it in the game folder: "Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3\nativePCx64\chr\archive\" (backup the original first). Its not completed it still missing All Titles All Hero and Herald Cards All Hereo and Herald Costumes Mission mode is 0 % Its a good start though |

To swap costumes I extract the arc files with pc-dmc4se.bat Let's swap Spiderman's DL costume (8th) on his original costume (1st) Extract 0026_07.arc, you get the folder "0026_07": in "0026_07\chr\SpiderMan\model" edit the "8p" folder into "1p" now that the folder is named "1p" you have to edit the paths in hex in "0026_07\chr\SpiderMan\model\1p\Spiderman.mrl" Before:

Freaking sweet, so glad that you're on modding this game, moddah. Looking forward to what you got cooking, you're getting farther than any of us are able to. Those are the character select images for Chun-Li, correct? Will use the alternate costume to regular costume swap tutorial you posted and see if I can get the Magneto alternate costume back to this game.

@moddah Don´t worry, the channels aren´t misplaced, that´s how Capcom´s engine MT framework deal with those types of textures, it´s the same for all their games using that engine. Like Resident Evil series Lost Planet ,and Devil May Cry 4. |
