@robhal - no character will lose their name. unlike with the stage name file, the character name file has doubles. 1 english name, and one japanese name. even though only 4 chacters have different names in japanese (balrog, vega, bison, akuma) all characters have a japanese name even if its the same as the english. so since we will never see the japanese names in game, they act like blank slots. so to get it working, i look for a character with the same name length(might not be necessary, but did it anyways just to make sure. I think it will work with any character as long as you don't add an extra character code) and go to there code which looks like this "ID_BSC_CHA_CHR_E.ID_BSC_CHA_CHR_J" the one with the J is the japanese one, so I will change it to my character making it look like this "ID_BSC_CHA_CHR_E.ID_BSC_CHA_MOR_E" (remember to change the J to E aswell) then scroll down to find the name which looks like this "...C.h.r.i.s.t.i.e...C.h.r.i.s.t.i.e..." the second name is the japanese one, so i change it to look like this "...C.h.r.i.s.t.i.e...M.o.r.r.i.g.a.n..."

About the special intro, the reason why you are not getting the special intro when you pick KEN first is because while KE2's official partner is KEN, KEN's official partner is still RYU. and as for the KE2 being invisible, thats because they are both using their official partner animation, and since its the same despite what order you select them, they are both doing the animation at the exact same spot. to fix this you must copy RYU.d02.ema to KE2 folder and rename it KE2.d02.ema so that he will do ryus animation instead, but it might have monkey face issue that i got when i did the same giving asukas to lili.

EDIT - I think i have an idea for the stage icons. since all the icons are there own dds files in a specific file (dont remember which one it is at the moment) what if we extracted all the dds files, and while keeping the same order and naming, add the extra dds files for the new stages and repack it together with kensous tool. could that work?

About the ema files, do you know all the files' function? I only know some (at least the obvious one), like these:
a01.ema --> ???
cam.ema --> camera animation ???
ccc.ema --> color customize pose
d01.ema --> normal intro animation ???
d02.ema --> special intro animation ???
d04.ema (for Jin, Juri, Dictator and Xiaoyu) --> special intro animation ???
d05.ema (for Akuma and Ogre) --> special intro animation ???
fce.ema --> face animation during battle
g01.ema (for Ken, Lei and Ryu) --> ???
obj.ema --> moveset animation in battle ???
rXX.ema (random number for each character; Jin, Juri, Dictator and Xiaoyu only have one file) --> ???
rXX.ema (random number for each character) --> ???
rXX.ema (random number for each character; Heihachi and Kuma have the 3rd file) --> ???
sel.ema --> char select pose

In the past, I had tried that method for the stage preview pics. Either I do it wrong or something else, that way don't work for me. But you're welcomed to try it first.

the g01 files are accessories. bag for ken and ryu, and cellphone for lei. they are exactly like costume specific files, so the have emm, emo, emb, 2ry, 4ce, ema. I dont know why they didnt just include it with the chracters regular files, maybe because they are the same for all 3 costumes so they made it a separate file to save room.

d01.ema and d02.ema are correct. d04 and 5 i assume its there boss intro animations. obj.ema is correct. the rXX animations are rival animations. one is the rival animation when you are in control of the character, the other is the rival animation when that character is your rival. jin, juri, bison and xiaoyu only have one because they have a rival battle, but they are a rival to no one. heihachi and kuma have a 3rd one because they are rivals to 2 different teams. chunli has a CNL.mnu.ema which is the animation she has when you enter the arcade mode menu. the cam.ema i believe is the game play camera animation, like the throws and supers, haven't tested it out though.

the only one i dont know is the a01.ema file.

for the stages, i will try it sometime in the future, my main focus right now is trying to get these extra characters to look as legit as possible

EDIT- found some new info, but kind of useless. the legit way to have the names for the gem and health selection is to mod the file character_setting.m4s in C:\Program Files (x86)\CAPCOM\Street Fighter X Tekken\resource\ENG\ui\pre_battle\chara_select the same way the like the chara_name file, and writing the code in the const.lua will make it work, but it much more convenient and less work to write the name normally in the const.lua. I wonder why capcom even made that pointless file.

Are you trying to use your duplicated char on Arcade or Versus mode?
That means you haven't done everything essential yet. Follow the 4 steps before the part named "FIXES TO SOME ISSUES".

about the overlapping character issue in win screen, when duplicated characters are official partners. that only happens in arcade mode, and only if they are both the same character because they both have the exact same animation for there story, so that's why they get that overlap. anywhere else, its fine.

And now these my instructions below are continuation from hunterk's method above, to be able to play the duplicated character in Arcade and Versus mode.

1. Go to folder "\Street Fighter X Tekken\stream\CMN\battle\chara", right-click on the desired character folder, select copy, then right-click elsewhere in the directory and choose 'paste.' You should end up with a folder named '*** - copy.' Next, rename that folder to a non-conflicting 3-letter prefix that will represent your new character duplicate. In this case, 'KE2'. Then navigate into the new folder and rename all the files (just two files) to match your 3-letter prefix (that is, all of the KEN* files should be renamed to KE2*).

2. Go to folder "\Street Fighter X Tekken\resource\CMN\ui\battle\comment\cmt", copy the desired character file (in here, KEN.cmt) and rename it to 'KE2.cmt'. OPTIONAL: You may also move the file 'KE2.cmt' to folder "\Street Fighter X Tekken\patch\CMN\ui\battle\comment\cmt" for easier maintenance.

3. Go to folder "\Street Fighter X Tekken\resource\ENG\ui\battle\comment", copy the desired character file (in here, KEN.m4s) and rename it to 'KE2.m4s'. OPTIONAL: You may also move the file 'KE2.m4s' to folder "\Street Fighter X Tekken\patch\ENG\ui\battle\comment" for easier maintenance.

4.Go to folder "\Street Fighter X Tekken\resource\ENG\ui\battle\subtitle", copy the desired character file (in here, KEN.m4s) and rename it to 'KE2.m4s'. OPTIONAL: You may also move the file 'KE2.m4s' to folder "\Street Fighter X Tekken\patch\ENG\ui\battle\subtitle" for easier maintenance.

Done, now you have a duplicated character that can be used on Arcade, Versus and Training as well.
