Are you using a model from outside with no skeleton ? if yes then the method I learned from khaled and sega is to append the skeleton using milkshape and then export the smd and use blender's weight transfer/weight copy to add proper bone weights to the model. Your model should correctly aligned on the position of original character for correct animations. |

Oh, I must have misunderstood what you where asking to me. If you've got and .obj file and want to create a .smd file from it, Blender messes it. As BrutalAce said, I import the .obj to Milkshape, import another .smd file with the bones I want, remove the unwanted model and export it as .smd (sometimes it needs bones and materials to be assigned before exporting). And now it's ready to be edited with Blender. |

@ medjoer : this error happens when the exported material is too big or you got an X-mirror duplicated stuff (like a piece of armor you got on an arm and you duplicate it and flip it on x axis) |

That message means that a single material have more than 24 bones assigned, SFxT can't handle that (if you see it in the explorer, it will appear messed up). You have to subdivide it with the material panel (in the right panel, click in the round icon). The materials can have the same name, to do that you have to name them material-0, material-1, material-2, etc... |

ah thanks for the tips! since I don't know how to divide material so I just split the obj into few parts and now it's working Edited by moedjoer, Jan 4 2013, 04:49 AM.
