Note:- This method can also be used to find/discover updates for all other GFWL enabled games too e.g. Dark Souls, Bulletstorm etc.

In this thread, I would like to present my findings which will enable us to manually download and apply all future SFxTK updates, even before they're officially released as long as they're already on the GFWL XBOX content server.

This discovery was based on some simple googling/sleuthing and a reference point courtesy of ZAK-81's 1.06 SFxTK patch link.

1. The link to the 1.06 patch was as follows:-

http://download.xbox.com/content/43430fa5/tu10000082_10000282.cab

2. Converting it to this notation:-

http://download.xbox.com/content/xxxxxxxx/tu1000008z_10000y8z.cab

Where

xxxxxxxx = refers to the titleID of the game, represented by 8 characters in lowercase hexadecimal notation.

This can be found by opening the game.exe.cfg file in Notepad++ (for SFxTK it's SFTK.exe.cfg), located at the game's installation directory in this uppercase notation, <titleid>43430FA5</titleid>.

Another place where you can discover the titleID of the game would be the InstallShield Installation Information folder located in your C:\Program Files (x86) drive, but this is a more cumbersome place to look for it.

and

y = refers to the title update number that the game is to be updated to, e.g. 1 for the 1st update, 2 for the second update etc

and

z = refers to the specific regional version of the game (get this also from the preupdated game.exe.cfg file, it varies from game to game and also your region, e.g. <titleversion>10000282</titleversion> means that the game has already been updated to title update 2, and has a region code of 2

e.g. if your version ends with a 2, the tu10000082_10000382.cab part should have both 2 at the end of each set of numbers

3. So in conclusion, for SFxTK, the future update would be at the same link, with only one change;

http://download.xbox.com/content/43430fa5/tu10000082_10000382.cab

3 signifying the third update, and the numbers in the middle would remain the same as the titleID for SFxTK is 43430fa5

If for some reason you wanted to update to just 1.02 (which is the 1st update released for the game), you'd just substitute the 3 for 1

Hope that helps.

O/T but still relevant:- I wanted to know how to do this because the newest Dark Souls PC patch just came out (increases performance and fixes the 5.1 downmix issue to stereo systems) and I didn't want to have to go online in GFWL to get it, thus the discovery of this titleID method.

(Dark Souls titleID is 4E4D0FA1, and this happens to be 1st title update for Dark Souls on the PC and my version number ended with a 2 in the game.exe.cfg file, so the link would be:-

http://download.xbox.com/content/4e4d0fa1/tu10000082_10000182.cab)

Is it possible to use a method like this to find the location of the Color/Gem/etc file downloads?

Hmm.. I'm not so sure about that, the method employed only applies to the Title Update as a whole.

Colors and Gems should be incorporated within the title update itself, awaiting "unlocking". I think when you "purchase" the gem or color pack from the marketplace, all you're downloading is the unlock file.

Which is not part of the Title Update, else it'd have been as easy as the replace "dlc_b" with "default" method that BrutalAce used to enable the 12 DLC characters in the latest update.

I can get those download files, but they can't be installed as my copy is not legit and they are tied to the account used to download them.

@stavros

Find the titleID and the title version from the game's executable.cfg and post them here. It could be that you typed them wrongly in your attempt.

The titleID must be typed in lowercase characters, e.g. <titleid>43430FA5</titleid> should be typed as 43430fa5 when entering the link into the navigation bar of the browser.

E.g. for Street Fighter X Tekken grab the details from this file as in the image below:-

1st Picture

Open the file and get the title id and title version:-

2nd Picture

Post them in your next post please; we can get the links based on the data provided.

You're not supposed to change it in the cfg file itself. You're supposed to change it for the download link to be accessed in your browser.

E.g the the titleid is <titleid>43430FA5</titleid> in the config file. You don't touch this, just copy the titleid, change it to lowercase and paste it into the link you'll create to access the download.

Like so:-

You won't be banned, but you also won't be able to sign onto GFWL with that game until the update officially goes live.
