Hi everyone,

I was supposed to post this sometime ago but I didn't managed to. Anyway I have written a fairly detailed guide on how to make your own SFxT style customizable textures. Basically a similar guide was also written by Moddah (which I used to learn this) but he didn't went into details on how to do it so I hope my guide will prove useful.

I was also supposed to post emm writing guide too but it has too many things to explain so I guess I skip it for now, if you have some questions about SFxT emm files you can ask me here.

The guide is in PDF format here

NOTE: This is my way of painting customizable textures so if you find some errors in it or you know some tips and tricks which can make it better please share them here :)

@Khaled

Thank you bro :)

@Robhal

You can do this bro, it's not difficult I just explained it in step by step way so the guide is sort of big but once you get the hang of it, it will be simple. If you have any questions let me know :)

Thanks for the guide!

About the brightness trick, I do it another way:
I just select the green and blue channels and paint them white. If I don't like the red layer, I copy&paste from another layer to the red one (all or just the part I want).

@mimonorulz

Thank you and it's my pleasure mate :)

@Sega

Thank you Sega, yes that's another nice and quick trick to get rid of dark textures in blue/green channels, thanks for sharing :)

The selecting step is really hard. Any idea why when I save selection, the background is black, not white?

What tool you're using for selection ? if quick select is causing problem you can use polygonal Lasso tool which is slow and manual but gives you more control, but if you prefer to use quick select then you can modify the brush size given on top, the bigger your brush size the more area it will select so for delicate and small textures use small brush size.

If you're using magic wand then there is a tolerance field on top, you can reduce the tolerance to make it select less area or you can increase it to select bigger area.

As for saving your selection. Whenever you save a selection it is saved in a new Alpha channel so only your selected part is considered black while everything else is white. You shouldn't worry about it because the selection is only meant to select your desired area later (after you put your entire image behind cyan color) it has no other use.

EDIT: Also don't forget to zoom your image when doing any selection work, it helps you a lot specially with polygonal lasso tool.
