All forum rules are located under the orange Saint Ignatius Nerf Club logo. Please read these before you register your account.
First of all, here are few helpful tips for using our forum...
- Whenever there is a paper sticking out of the folder on the left side of each column, that means that there is something new (whether it be a post or a comment) located in that section
- Whenever you open a section, there will be a book icon on the left side of each post column. If the book is a solid color (blue, green [for polls], or red), that means that there is either a new comment within or that it is an entirely new post that you have not read before. If the book has a white center, that means that you have read that post before.
Please make sure to always read new posts.
Also, please check the forum, at minimum, once a week.
Feel free to make new posts or comment on old ones.
Finally, thanks for joining the Saint Ignatius Nerf Club!

______________________________________________________________________________

So I was talking to two guys at a Miamu U summer camp a little while ago and the conversation went to none other than Nerf Club (I believe we got there as I was telling them about the gang I run...) and they brought up an event that they both do despite going to different schools that they say has been pretty dang successful. I thought it would be awesome if we were to do something like that so here is The Hunt :D
(please bear with me, it's a long one)

The Hunt

The Basics
The Hunt is not your typical Nerf Club event - as a matter of fact, it is not held at an event at all.
The Hunt is, in essence, a much simpler version of how colleges actually do HVZ. See, college HVZ is typically done unlike how we do it, it is typically held over many days, weeks, months maybe. As long as there are people still "in", the game goes on wherever, whenever (minus a few times and places of course which I will get to soon). The idea of these kinds of prolonged games is that there are typically not huge firefights as there would be in most of our events but you are always watching your back.
The goal of The Hunt is simple, you have a team of 3 and you have to eliminate all of the other teams of 3 - everyone has 1 life.

Restrictions
Now, of course you can't be going around attacking people without any moderation. So these would be some of the times and places in which you are not allowed to engage someone:
- on campus during school hours plus 15 minutes before and afterwards -
Obviously we're not going to be attacking someone during class... Also, I thought having a 10 minute grace period before and after the bell rings to start and end the day would be a good idea just so that someone doesn't get a cheap shot as they're walking out the door from class at 2:55.
- at one's workplace during their work hours -
Again, just to avoid cheap shots - obviously they can't defend themselves if they're working.
- At Church -
- Sports/Musical/Etc. Practices or Meets
- on Nerf Club event days -
If it happens that The Hunt is still going on on the day of a regular Nerf Club event, The Hunt will be put on a hold for that day. I mean we can't really have a Nerf Club event if everyone is avoiding each other so they don't lose their one life...
- follow the law and don't be dumb -
Ok, I don't think I should have to mention it but no, you are not allowed to break into someone's house to get them - that it against the law sir or ma'am. No, if someone from another team is kind or dumb enough to give you a ride somewhere, please do not shoot the driver - shoot them as you are stepping out of the car at your destination. Just remember this simple phrase, "What would Jesus do?" and you should be fine.

Misc. Stuff
- You are all more than welcome to borrow weapons from our supply until you get out. Just text me and I can obviously-not-shadily give it to you in a black trash bag behind the dumpster in the Wendy's parking lot before or after school. These would be a first come first serve - we would have enough for everyone, it's just that - if you want something specific - you have to let me know. Also, I'd have a list of stuff that each person borrowed just to keep track of everything. -
- Every day or so, I would send out a list of people still in and a list of those who were killed that day via our twitter, email, texts, something along those lines. That being said, you would have to shoot me a text if you are eliminated/eliminated someone else. -
- Assuming the game lasts for this long, every 4th week of the month (or whenever, this is up to you guys), there would be a week long break. I mean you're not gonna be able to have all of your friends on one team so I wouldn't want this game to keep you from hanging out with your other friends because you don't want to get tagged out and stuff. -

- Just as a side note, I think we'd be able to have a tonnnnnnn of people in this game. Think about it, the people who don't come to Nerf Club don't come mostly because the day doesn't work for them. Since this event doesn't actually take place on one day at one place, literally every single Nerf Club member (as in all like 140 or so of you guys) theoretically should be able to join. Seriously, the schools of the guys I was talking to were pretty small but this event was pretty dang big for them. With a school of our size and a club of our size, we could make this massive.

Stuff That I Specifically Want Your Guys' Input On
- A small entrance fee for prize money and prom money? This is what the guys did for their schools - they had each team chip in a little bit of an entrance fee and the winning team would get a portion of it while the rest would go towards funding for the over expensive prom night. This would only be, I was thinking maybe 3, more towards 6 dollars per team so 1 - 2 dollars per person which really isn't that bad at all I think. Not only would we obviously be raising money for prom and having a incentive that would drive competition but I think both of these would grab the attention of people who weren't so drawn into normal Nerf Club events beforehand. -
- The ability to buy back in? Another thing the guys I was talking to did was that, if you got out, you would be allowed to pay $5 within 24 hours to buy yourself back into the game. The way they did it was that you could only do this once but I also thought another way of doing this would be that the payment would increase by $5 every time you got out. Also, after a while and after only a certain percentage of people are left in the game, you would not be allowed to buy back in. The guys said that this "buy back in" idea was actually really popular and they got a ton of money through it - I believe that, if we were to have prize money for the winners, this would be very popular here as well. If, however, there is really no incentive to win, I doubt this would be used.
- When do you guys think this event should be held? I was thinking maybe early school year sometime?

Some changes I thought off...
- revives cost $1 first time then go up by $3 every consecutive purchase
- at $1, most likely everyone will buy the first revive; we will be able to get at least 1 additional dollar from mostly everyone to add toward the grand prize
- 3 info meetings: one on a Monday, one on a Wednesday, and one on a Friday
- to verify someone being eliminated, the person who got one guy out must make a group chat with the eliminated person and myself
- instead of putting a picture on our Instagram of each individual person who gets out, we'll post a yearbook-like picture thing with everyone's face on it and, as they get out, i'll post that same picture with "X"'s over the outed
- members can't back buy or use revives after there are only 4 teams left
- teams who want to join after the start date must pay $12 dollars opposed to the normal $6
- To keep things running smoothly, once someone gets another person out, the kill must be reported within 24 hours or it doesn't count. Additionally, if the person who gets out does not deny the claim within 48 hours of the first sent text, it is assumed that he is in fact out. During this time, I'll probably find the guy who hasn't responded just to make sure he's out.
- Backpacks don't count as hits
- Manhunt Mondays: every Monday, one randomly chosen person will be a known target (posted on the gram). If anyone eliminates him that day, the killer will get 1 free revive. If the target does not get killed, he gets 2 free revives
- Some of the prize money may be taken from the winning team's pool if we lose a significant amount of darts. To be honest, I probably wouldn't mind if someone broke a gun or something because we have so many of them - it's more of the bullets we need to be careful off just cause they're so much more easily lost or forgotten and, if people aren't careful, we might not have many darts after this... XD
- if anyone already has any Nerf weapons, they are highly encouraged to use those instead of borrowing some of ours. Also, they are encouraged to let others borrow them so we can supply everyone. If anyone looses or breaks someone else's weapon, we will replace it before our own equipment
- Another clarification, technically you can make a team of less than 3 people so that you don't have to split the money
- If you mess around with any of your weapons during the school day, you are subject to immediate disqualification. If someone does something dumb, it's not too far off to say that this whole thing could get called off by Franzinger. He likes the idea; we have a pretty awesome opportunity here so let's not ruin it.
