This is the guideline the Programmers are suggested to follow for development:

3 months (end of year):
  • Movement (walk, jump, thrust)
  • Shooting & basic damage (detail shall be dependent on available data about stats, factors, calcs etc.)
  • NON-procedural generation of maps - will have several pre-made sample maps
  • Basic customization (representative sample of chassis, components, weapons, modules - a lot of these share behavior and only differ in stats and appearance)
  • No special game modes - free for all death-match most likely.
  • Able to play over a network
  • Hosting on server, or possibly on trusted client via NAT hole-punching
  • At this stage, expected small, trustworthy user-base - security, authentication, user accounts etc. all need care, so initially we would have only display names and/or IP addresses, no passwords. Scores / points are fine, but rating, achievements won't exist yet (besides, we're doing SS, not FunOrb)
  • Dumb AI (hence why early multiplayer is essential)

4 months (end of January):
  • Teams
  • Support for scripted (in the dramatic sense) events ie. drone spawns (for simple coop - however, not sure how fun it will be with dumb AI), overhead ships (anyone care about Lost? )
  • Support for flag-capturing (therefore, Fleet)

6 months (Spring):
  • Generated features of maps (terrain, space rocks...)

A big thank you to Idratex for writing out this list.

I was going to post about this today because the meeting was moved to today, but because the "deadlines" appear to fail to motivate the developers(rather resulting in stress or nothing, as well as the notion that this becomes a "job" or a "chore"), I've decided to do away with the deadlines and replace them with suggested deadlines/goals. Today's Programmer meeting we intend to map out the next 3-6 months of these suggested goals.

Thank you for posting the video here: I'll be sure to link it directly to the Programmers.

P.S. Kos is not actively participating in the project as a Developer(though he still tries to attend the meetings).
Task list updated.

Thank you for your report, Idra, but with suspension in our midst and likely to happen, I'll not be looking for these weekly reports anymore(though, if you wish to make progress and report it, feel free).

Though, thank you for remembering to post regardless.
