I don't mean to be naggy, but three months of work has produced (not including the masses of code, which I cannot fathom one mortal man accomplishing in the amount of time alloted) one successful chassis design, new artwork for fleet, some new skins, a new chassis design, and a bunch of dead threads that could have had a future. I know the graphic stuff must take a long time, and i personally have very little knowledge of it, so let's put that aside and focus on our ideas. I think we can do better in terms of peer editing. there are a few player-made builds suggested here (e.i. the Squid chassis) that I think are not only good concepts, they are good enough to be accepted into the game. I know there are a lot of complications, namely with the storyboards, which I know Pringles is working on, but things would go a lot faster if people put maybe half an hour of their time into this a day, which I know you all can spare, because I've got a pretty tight schedule myself, and i can manage much more that that. we have FORTY people's brains to put to work here, about 80% of which aren't caught up with the coding and graphics part of the game. It's true, the new content isn't the most important thing we need to do for this thing to be succesful, but we lowly members aren't a part of that process, for the most part, so lets work on making the game we loved enough to make another even more awesome.

I submitted art to a developer's diary that's still very much alive and well. I even worked on my main menu yesterday night. I made around 10 tilesets (some of which I haven't shown to anyone but Dansteph yet) which I already sent to Dansteph. I put some art into my volcano map thread which is still open for discussion. I worked a ton on the ruined sentinel factory tilesets and background art which is available for you to see in the ruined sentinel factory map thread. I renamed almost all of the modules in a thread which is also open for discussion. I almost finished the art (a long time ago) and stats (recently) for my wasp chassis thread. I offer suggestions, criticism, and support in any thread I can. I'm working on a plot which is pretty much done. I just have to write it down. I wrote down a lot of the sentinel histories and renamed them all (bosses too). I suggested a volatile energy weapon class which isn't going anywhere until I get enough people to help me balance it out. I made a lot of 3D models which I still need to perfect. The basic slave skeleton is 100% finished. I can go on and on. So I've been very busy on these forums so far! Take a look around. You have to find all of these threads which have content and potential that a lot of people helped support. We did a lot in three months. : p
BUT, I do agree that some people should be more active. You're right about the fact that we have 40 people, and only a few are active. Also, you members aren't lowly. You have the power to suggest, and that is a LOT. It keeps these forums alive and well!

This is why I am in awe of you genius computer people. -Salute-
I know that some people, obviously you, for example, work very hard to realize this, and I'm not saying you aren't doing enough work. DEFINITELY not. (considering I haven't done close to that much) I was just thinking that only 15-20 members have ever so much as commented on a post, and that's pretty depressing.

Thanks for moving the post, BTW

P.S. Since when am I a distinguished member? :panic:

Probably since the same time I became one as well.

On topic: I can't speak for anyone else who isn't suggesting stuff, but my thing is that 1) I actually have a life aside from the Internet now, and 2) Someone else is already working on the campaign. Just my :2cents:

So do most of us, but I think you can spare at least a half hour of your time on here, just to add those pennies. We collect them.

Eh, I get on and moderate as many of the "Hot topics" as I can spare time for, I'll occaisionally go through every sub forum and moderate each and every thread which is either new or updated if possible, and I'll assist in any work given me by other members of this forum.

I'd put some cents here, but they seem to be all taken.

Part of the reason we only have 40 members is b/c the new SS2/Chrome Conflict/Insert-Name-Here is not in a releasable stage. Once we have an Alpha or BETA version of the game out there that people can get their hands I think we'll see an increase in the people here. (assuming we all spread the word)

I needed a equation how efficient was a ion engine, though it went down into the drain.

Found this in Specialty & Other and moved it here to say definitively that I am less than satisfied with the state of progress made on the game after five months of the project's being rebooted.

Maybe I'll have to find more/new methods of encouraging efficiency, but I'd like to ask everyone NOT in the programming department to please "remind" our programmers of the necessity of their role, our faith in them and our expectations. Whether those reminders be off-handed remarks or private DMs, the more the dev's knowledge that we're invested in them is refreshed, the better.
